Well I've only got my (still quite basic) editing skills gradually together over a year or so ago and I guess I have found doing the various Shorts quite helpful and cathartic in that regard. So yes it might seem I have built the channel up, quite what for I don't know🤣, but it might come across like I know what I am doing or actually have a plan of some sort 😉!!🤫. Not so fast with the 'boring' as regards Subs, both you and Mike (Vinyl Spiral) etc, have done lots of threads and comps very well and amassed lots of subscribers and loyal audience (me included). Most of my own subscribers are from the shorts. If I subtract that number then we are quite similar for long videos, but, if I take away the subs from my viral video then Both Mike and yourself are quite away ahead of me so stick with it and keep doing what you enjoy. If I progress to the next level I might need to update my £15 computer I got off Ebay 🤣 cheers 👍👍👍👍

Hi Jason, at that time, thanks to the short, I had a big boost to the subs, bringing my then total to 5k. I did think maybe some of them would watch a better longer version and it may get views in the hundreds (1 or 2) and may even make it to 1k over time!! How wrong I was 🤣(its still plodding along as well). The intro segment was kind of useful, people can make of it what they will, its all a bit tongue in cheek. It was too much of an example to pass up showing, quite what it was an example of I couldn't tell you but hey 🤣🤷♀! Whilst alot of people got that video suggested, I don't however think RUclips does a very good job of suggesting new channels of interest to the viewer, hence my second segment, cheers 👍
Congrats on the massive views on that video.Quite the accomplishment. My point about using other material is valid since I've been licensing original content for almost four decades. And remember, Fair Use is not an absolute. Also, the answer is yes; I actually attended that Who show at the Cow Palace and many others at all the San Francisco Bay Area venues throughout the 1970s. (I'm reminded of Mary Whitehouse and her followers, and other religious fanatics since, who condemn a film, TV programme or book without having even watched it or read it.) My mind is boggled by your achievement! ... What I'd really like to see from you going forward is a mix of the two approaches in the Who and 'Tormato' videos - a forensic examination of an iconic event (or album) from a band's career using some found footage, but also with some voice-overs and link-pieces to camera by you. Your personality and natural humour would shine through. Think Abigail Devoe's channel (but without the dresses) ... P.S. You definitely missed a couple of 'incorrects' on your DIY bingo card. P.P.S. I also like that you include detailed notes in the description below your videos. It annoys me when 'content creators' leave that section blank. All the best.
Hi Carl and thank you, appreciate it. My mind is a bit on the boggled side as well tbh! I enjoyed having a crack at putting that video together. I will indeed be looking to dip my toe into the more iconic events every so often and I thank you for the very valuable feedback. I will take it on board as they say. I have seen Abigail's channel and she's great at what she does, however I think there is a slight danger of that kind of approach becoming somewhat formulaic (and possibly, for me, less enjoyable to do). I like to try different things and have ideas for videos that are quite different, which, probably wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, and consequently lesser views via YTs algorithm. I think there is a temptation with a RUclips channel to try and keep the views traffic coming in, which can I think, take some of the enjoyment away. However I will try to 'attempt' the odd concise, more professional approach to making a video whilst incorporating some of the factors you suggest. My usual rule of thumb is 'Was this enjoyable/interesting to do' or 'am I having fun', anything else is a bonus, cheers 👍

It was a ‘different’ kind of intro experiment tbh ( don’t worry , one that shall never be repeated) but it showed a lot of valuable misconceptions and judgemental-isms-isms. As someone with a sociology degree I hope you found it especially amusing 🤣. Someone searching for some sacred album cover stones, high on mushrooms, lost on Dartmoor being hunted by the SAS is a good metaphor for parts of the VC perhaps 🤔. However, I couldn’t not juxtaposition the video success , some adverse reactions, with, what were some truly great shoutouts from genuine VC stars. I truly didn’t expect so much love, and was and am, very humbled. Large views and some extra subs are lovely, but the real prize is people like you Mike 👍 PS I’ll see the a***holes at 10k subs 🤣

Very good! Actually this video demonstrates the real skill of editing imo, you have formed a coherent narrative by using different techniques...which I wouldnt have a clue how to do. My particular skill set is showing a KC & The Sunshine Band records & then making a knob gag! Great video, kept me watching until the end...which really is the only way I judge if a video is good or not. . I actually think there was quite a lot of admiration on the live stream clips too!..although The Waxed seemed a trifle peeved!
Harris, thank you for 'the real skill of editing', not sure what that means 🤣but thank you anyway, much appreciated. I did want to say both a thank you for the 1mil views AND the shoutouts I got from the Vinyl Tag 2024 (long overdue). I had a think and couldn't really get out of my head just what a contrast these two areas posed. I enjoyed making the shootout collage and it was my first crack at staggering the clips of the different people using the great John Bellamy as the baseline. I think it worked well. Adding a bit of pomp and circumstance to it (by literally adding Pomp and Circumstance to it) I think took it to the desired Stevie level of 'what the hell am I watching here' 🤣. Someone had alerted me (Mr time stamp) the day before to Rob Walkers shenanigans (stirring the pot) and just as I was by a Wi-Fi spot by the port shop/toilets in Haugesund Norway (just after riding the VC Love Train) making our way back on the boat, I chimed in with my once yearly comment on that stream. As I walked away all I could hear on my phone was the ensuing mayhem, which made me chuckle. Yes the stream was kind of complimentary (I think) despite the numerous interjections of insane stupidity. I don't watch the stream but that Mr Waxed doesn't seem to have a very positive inner dialogue ; ). I would probably be the first person in history to be sued for copyright by NOT using any footage at all from 'The Kids are Alright' documentary 🤣. According to my stats you are now in the top 1% of my viewers, ones who have watched a video to the very end 🤣. Thanks for the great feedback👍. PS The VC wouldn't be what it is today without the knob gags
@@SteviesVinylCupboard Well there is a skill to editing...youre telling a story...if I did it mine would just be some mad collage..but inserting the bingo card on screen...it takes a bit of imagination. BTW the thumbnail is total genius!
@@Harrispilton22 Thank you Harris. I did the Thumbnail first, after that I knew I couldn't go back 🤣. I filmed the Bingo pad by hooking a bendy tripod on my screen and playing the segment. I detached the audio of that and synced the vid. I then just cut bits on a different track as n when altering the size n position, although I admit it was very difficult to keep up with the 'stolen content' on repeat 😂.
Great video Stevie and well explained. Some very strange reactions...As a luddite who relies on one take and no edits for his VC videos, I admire your editing skills and creativity. Dale thank you. I do enjoy your 'Lost in the collection' series and the initial preambles before showing the records ; ). The one take video is a very difficult skill, one which I always falter at and need a few takes in manageable chunks. You do it very well, well done Sir. I have to compensate in other areas. I have only been having a crack at using a (basic-ish) video editor for just over a year. I'm sort of getting used to it now and am fairly speedy at doing most of the basic things I want to do. Although it does take time to create some of my wackier/stupid ideas. The Shoutouts (and so many of them) were truly unexpected and very humbling as is people appreciating skills and creativity, cheers 👍

Thank you RM, much appreciated 👍. This was a bit of an experiment tbh. I had made the thumbnail first and knew I just couldn’t turn back 🤣. The shenanigans (that I don’t usually watch) were a different kind of intro. I tried to cut it down as much as possible but had to include the misconceptions to make it work. Rob Walkers performance was great 😅. I wasn’t trying to make a huge point,but, if I was , it would be that huge views, comments and likes , plus some extra subs, are a lovely validation (if you can push through the algorithm, even just once) but can you beat the wonderful praise of some lovely VC people? I am not judging but I guess I am asking ‘what kind of VC would we like to see’? I still remain, just a humble channel, a guy with some records that he keeps in a cupboard, who makes the odd video (with lower views if I’m in it ) 😉. Cheers 👍
Appreciate it thanks. I don't watch streams during the day (UK) and I don't know Mr Waxed (and he me), but he doesn't seem to be a very positive chap! It is a bit strange to be 'so' negative about a video both He and Mazzy had obviously not watched (or understood). It was good however to use their misunderstanding of it to introduce and explain what it was actually about and how it actually came about. Also the Vinyl Tag shoutouts are a good contrast. I hope it gets people thinking more about the positivity in the VC, cheers 👍

I did twig straight away that you were winding them up, which to be fair doesn't seem to be that hard to do🤣. I did make my once yearly comment the next day (at a Wi-Fi spot in Norway) and just heard all hell breaking loose as we walked towards the boat as it cut off, it did make me chuckle. Its only when I got back home that I realised this subject was a long segment. Your sudden U-turn was brilliant. I didn't mean to use such a long segment but as Mr Waxed and Mazzy were bringing the stupid so much I couldn't leave it out🤣 . Anyway I think people appreciate the work you put into the Vinyl Tag and I listed the shoutouts from that and other channels, so hopefully my new found subscribers will have a looksee and sub you all up soon. It was a ‘different’ kind of intro experiment tbh ( don’t worry , one that shall never be repeated) but it showed a lot of valuable misconceptions and judgemental-isms-isms. As someone with a sociology degree I hope you found it especially amusing 🤣. Someone searching for some sacred album cover stones, high on mushrooms, lost on Dartmoor being hunted by the SAS is a good metaphor for parts of the VC perhaps 🤔. However, I couldn’t not juxtaposition the video success , some adverse reactions, with, what were some truly great shoutouts from genuine VC stars. I truly didn’t expect so much love, and was and am, very humbled. Large views and some extra subs are lovely, but the real prize is people like you Mike 👍

Very good! Actually this video demonstrates the real skill of editing imo, you have formed a coherent narrative by using different techniques...which I wouldnt have a clue how to do. My particular skill set is showing a KC & The Sunshine Band records & then making a knob gag! Great video, kept me watching until the end...which really is the only way I judge if a video is good or not. . I actually think there was quite a lot of admiration on the live stream clips too!..although The Waxed seemed a trifle peeved!
Harris, thank you for 'the real skill of editing', not sure what that means 🤣but thank you anyway, much appreciated. I did want to say both a thank you for the 1mil views AND the shoutouts I got from the Vinyl Tag 2024 (long overdue). I had a think and couldn't really get out of my head just what a contrast these two areas posed. I enjoyed making the shootout collage and it was my first crack at staggering the clips of the different people using the great John Bellamy as the baseline. I think it worked well. Adding a bit of pomp and circumstance to it (by literally adding Pomp and Circumstance to it) I think took it to the desired Stevie level of 'what the hell am I watching here' 🤣.
Someone had alerted me (Mr time stamp) the day before to Rob Walkers shenanigans (stirring the pot) and just as I was by a Wi-Fi spot by the port shop/toilets in Haugesund Norway (just after riding the VC Love Train) making our way back on the boat, I chimed in with my once yearly comment on that stream. As I walked away all I could hear on my phone was the ensuing mayhem, which made me chuckle. Yes the stream was kind of complimentary (I think) despite the numerous interjections of insane stupidity.
I don't watch the stream but that Mr Waxed doesn't seem to have a very positive inner dialogue ; ).
I would probably be the first person in history to be sued for copyright by NOT using any footage at all from 'The Kids are Alright' documentary 🤣.
According to my stats you are now in the top 1% of my viewers, ones who have watched a video to the very end 🤣. Thanks for the great feedback👍.
PS The VC wouldn't be what it is today without the knob gags
@@SteviesVinylCupboard Well there is a skill to editing...youre telling a story...if I did it mine would just be some mad collage..but inserting the bingo card on screen...it takes a bit of imagination. BTW the thumbnail is total genius!

I filmed the Bingo pad by hooking a bendy tripod on my screen and playing the segment. I detached the audio of that and synced the vid. I then just cut bits on a different track as n when altering the size n position, although I admit it was very difficult to keep up with the 'stolen content' on repeat 😂.
Great video Stevie and well explained. Some very strange reactions...As a luddite who relies on one take and no edits for his VC videos, I admire your editing skills and creativity. Plus there was creativity in having the ideas to make and create the Who and Tormato videos, which were great. Cheers Dale
Dale thank you. I do enjoy your 'Lost in the collection' series and the initial preambles before showing the records ; ). The one take video is a very difficult skill, one which I always falter at and need a few takes in manageable chunks. You do it very well, well done Sir. I have to compensate in other areas.
I have only been having a crack at using a (basic-ish) video editor for just over a year. I'm sort of getting used to it now and am fairly speedy at doing most of the basic things I want to do. Although it does take time to create some of my wackier/stupid ideas. The Shoutouts (and so many of them) were truly unexpected and very humbling as is people appreciating skills and creativity, cheers 👍

This was a bit of an experiment tbh. I had made the thumbnail first and knew I just couldn’t turn back 🤣. The shenanigans (that I don’t usually watch) were a different kind of intro. I tried to cut it down as much as possible but had to include the misconceptions to make it work. Rob Walkers performance was great 😅. I wasn’t trying to make a huge point,but, if I was , it would be that huge views, comments and likes , plus some extra subs, are a lovely validation (if you can push through the algorithm, even just once) but can you beat the wonderful praise of some lovely VC people? I am not judging but I guess I am asking ‘what kind of VC would we like to see’? I still remain, just a humble channel, a guy with some records that he keeps in a cupboard, who makes the odd video (with lower views if I’m in it ) 😉. Cheers 👍

Appreciate it thanks. I don't watch streams during the day (UK) and I don't know Mr Waxed (and he me), but he doesn't seem to be a very positive chap! It is a bit strange to be 'so' negative about a video both He and Mazzy had obviously not watched (or understood). It was good however to use their misunderstanding of it to introduce and explain what it was actually about and how it actually came about. Also the Vinyl Tag shoutouts are a good contrast. I hope it gets people thinking more about the positivity in the VC, cheers 👍

I did once call MetalMickey a Geordie Prick. That didn't go down well at the time, but I like to think he'd laugh about it now. But aside from that... I'm obviously doing something wrong. 👍

Much appreciated Rob. 'Much credit over the years' , I've only been at it properly since the latter part of 2022, a year and a half!! I did twig straight away that you were winding them up, which to be fair doesn't seem to be that hard to do🤣. I did make my once yearly comment the next day (at a Wi-Fi spot in Norway) and just heard all hell breaking loose as we walked towards the boat as it cut off, it did make me chuckle. Its only when I got back home that I realised this subject was a long segment. Your sudden U-turn was brilliant. I didn't mean to use such a long segment but as Mr Waxed and Mazzy were bringing the stupid so much I couldn't leave it out🤣 . Anyway I think people appreciate the work you put into the Vinyl Tag and I listed the shoutouts from that and other channels, so hopefully my new found subscribers will have a looksee and sub you all up soon.
