      @@GustheStruggleBus I know there needs to be a check valve after the accumulator. But, have you seen anyone put a check valve after the water heater as well?

    • @GustheStruggleBus
      @GustheStruggleBus  4 года назад

      Sorry for the late reply. In theory there should be two check valves one after the pump and one after the city water this is so that there is no back pressure going into the pump or going into the city water. I have not heard of anybody putting a check valve after the water heater.

    Guys, this video is a LITERAL lifesaver. I'm doing a conversion on a 2001 Bluebird (40') for a fam of 6. I've been dreading the plumbing a lot, since I thought it was going to take me at least 2 weeks to get done. Never even HEARD of Sharkbite. Then this video came along, and all my headaches are gone. Ordering the parts as soon as I get measurements done tomorrow, watertank is on the way.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to put this video together, liked, subscribed, and sending a ton of love from the Pacific Peninsula in WA.

    Thank you so much for sharing this fabulously informative video!👏👏👏 I’ve been trying to work on my plumbing for close to a year and haven’t had the guts!!🤦🏻‍♀️ You two explained your plan so well..plus I’ve been needing to figure out how to drain my tanks if necessary🤷🏻‍♀️-thanks for the answer!🤩👏. You’re kicking ass! I have to say, if you get a chance to live in or at least “camp” for a weekend in your bus once your bed is in, it can be incredibly helpful!! I planned and replanned; laid it all out in tape...changed it some more..BUT it wasn’t till I started living in it that I became aware of some major changes I wanted to make. So glad I had the opportunity to do them! Good luck to you two..not that you seem to need it!😅✌️💚

    Looking good so far! We had a used plastic outdoor shower faucet also but it leaked too much and felt cheap, so I found a heavy duty but still tiny stainless steel one at a local mom and pop shop that sells lots of RV stuff and special fittings for propane, plumbing, etc. It might be a good idea to find something similar. I love the way you buried the lines in the wheel well. Can't wait to see the progression.

    It may be prudent to place some neoprene where the water tank meets the securing batons so it doesn't rub through with vibration over time. I would also buy some blanking off caps and pressure test your system along the way Leaks now will be way easier to see and deal with.

    Doing a great job! Make sure you double check all of your shark bite connections. They are designed with a 2 stage seal and you will feel 2 clicks when pressing them together. I doubt you will have a problem because you will rarely be pressurized like in a house, but better safe than sorry!

      MEREDITH and PACO definitely! Have you had him from a puppy? Does he scratch his ears a lot by chance? How is he with other dogs? My Koko was in the Philly shelter for a year before I got to her😟, so she has a couple issues 🤷🏻‍♀️We’re starting training this week!👏👏👏👏🤞🤩. She’s actually really well trained as far as “sit, stay, lie down, Shake, comes every time (even if chasing something!), heel” and she regularly “checks in” (looks back at me), so in one sense we’re kinda ahead of some, but socializing is what she truly needs; she’s very dominant 🤦🏻‍♀️...your guy is probably perfect if you’ve had him since “day 1”-I HATE that the previous owner cut her tail (they do it for hunting dogs)..I know it would be much more obvious when she’s happy and not..😟. I adore her no matter what, however!✌️💚🥰

    • @GustheStruggleBus

      Of course! That confused me as well at first. On is for the outtake ( where the water exits ) one is for intake (where you refill and water enters. And one is for air to escape so you don't bust your tank! When water enders the air needs to exit, so that has a vent on it for bugs but stays open.

    Hey guys, thank you for the awesome content. I'm still in the planning stage of my build and am trying to work out what types of fittings to use for my plumbing. I definitely like the idea and simplicity of shark bites but am worried about leaks over time due to vibrations. Have you had any issues with those over time?
    Thanks,
    Martin

    With the city in line you used 3 elbows. Couldn't you eliminate 2 of those and just bend the pex? (Same with the outdoor shower line's elbow and the 2 hot line elbows.)

    • @GustheStruggleBus
      @GustheStruggleBus  4 года назад +1

      Technical, yes. You could eliminate a lot of connections if you really needed to. We didn't want to have to bend the pex pipe to much nor have it sticking out a lot. So we had to compromise and make a couple of connections (elbows) that also helped keep it nice and neat. 😁

    • @klandy4165
      @klandy4165 4 года назад +1

      I would just worry that each elbow is 2 extra joints that could be potential leaks in the future, but the elbows do make it look nice.

    I can't find any information for the kind of hot water heater you have, but some others have said that they shouldn't be mixed with cold at the source of where the water will come out(the faucet or shower). I want to be able to use a mixer valve at my shower like you have. Do you know if there's any reason why you wouldn't be able to do that?

    Hey, love this video, I was just wondering if you remember how you connected your pump to the accumulator. We have the same system and the plastic connection on the accumulator isn’t a pex, but a hose barb. Did you use a hose and get a hose connection at the pump.?

      I agree the rubber o ring dry rots over time and causes leaks. Do all the internet research you want it still won't change that shark bites are terrible.
      I'm a licensed plumber in Texas and we don't mess with those at least the good plumber's don't. Heck it would probably be cheaper to call a plumber to do it all shark bite fittings are expensive af too.

    the right way is to not use teflon tape (small slivers of the tape can block the impeller or the tapseals and can make youre life harder ) instead use a teflon coating stick
