    I feel like it's fairly easy and most likely worth it to get the "City against the state" mission from the get go. You can simply give a single privilege to the Burghers (or make sure they stay under 50% influence), and as soon as you get back to 30% crownland all you need is dev. I've been waiting until the Renaissance spawns to dev my province so I can have the institution get there a little faster, but it could very well be done earlier.

    • @michaelrusso9809
      @michaelrusso9809 2 года назад +12

      Yeah, handing out the estate mana privileges from the get-go is a huge mistake. That's a simple mission that turbocharges Riga's economy very early on. Sort of stopped paying attention after I saw that. Gives amazing ROI for developing tax early on, which should be easy since you're basically never using admin to core, and then you can just exploit the development for more money again later if you'd prefer to pump the town with trade/production/military development later at a lower cost. Takes a little while to get the ball rolling on trade dominance, and that tax income + sailor boost early on helps a lot.

    13:15 if you temporarily take your merchant out of Lübeck (o'r change them to transfer) you'll not need as many ships. This is because while you're collecting there you're getting a massive "collecting trade not in home node" malus to your trade power there.

  • @iquabakaner
    @iquabakaner 2 года назад +37

    It seems to me it's not worth it to take land from the Teutons and Livonians since you can just divert trade to get those trade power. You can get trade power from provinces in e.g. Lubeck trade node for even more trade income. In my game I got Riga, Gotland, Lubeck, Neva and the trade center in Pomerania (forgot the name), from there I got the majority of trade power in both the Lubeck and the Baltic nodes.

    • @lainling
      @lainling 2 года назад +4

      Yeah, and the orders are probably what you want to feed most of the land you conquer since they're ridiculously loyal with the historical friends modifier.

    • @theguyyouhate
      @theguyyouhate 2 года назад +3

      right gotta say Neva is a much better province to take simply because of the monument. hoinestly if you ask em the optimal 5 provinces to take would be Riga, Neva, Gotland, Sjæland and Krakow simply for those pretty decent/great monuments all on centers of trade setting you up to have your trade capital in the Lubeck node.
      but you shouldn't take anything from the orders.
      anotother huge mistake if you ask me that isn't nearly as obvious as this or giving crownland away early is going against the livonian order so quickly. you actually need to ally them early. not because you need them but because you need them to complete the "protect riga" mission which requires them to ally riga and have riga like them by 190(so you anoyingly also have to wait for them to improve relations with you). however if they don't do this mission then they can not open their mission tree and can't get rid of the last negative privilege, which just gimps you lifelong vassal.

  • @aqvamarek5316
    @aqvamarek5316 2 года назад +19

    Top mission is most easy at gamestart, do not give any estates on burgers, and only non Crownland estates to the rest.
    Than simply press two times take Crownland, and you get your cathedral in 1450, when renaissance spawn...
    Simply develop up Riga, and use focus province button (+1 manufacturing, and massive bonus on province, cheaper development)..
    Other Tipp, leave Lubeck trade league the moment you have them ally, for Sweden mission in the first year.

    I think you don’t need to restart even if Teutonic Order or Livonia Order allied to some strong power. Develop our city mission can help you to build a sizeable army to handle Poland or Lithuania on your own. You can also ally to Moscow if you want a strong ally (i dont prefer Denmark because the new mission tree and events of Sweden has caused their fast downfall.) Ottoman tends to attack their neighbours aggressively, so even Poland took most of Teutonic Order’s land, you can take them back after Ottoman weakened them.

    It makes more sense to me, to fight the first war with subjugation cb against the teutons and cobeligerating the livonians. Since subjugation warscore will be maxed at 90, you can always vassalize the teutons in that war, the livonians should have a cost less than 100 by default so they can also be vassalized immediately.

I've tried to do a workaround by not co-belligerent the other nation in the start. But then Poland comes and eat up Teutons. Or Muscovy/Novgorod comes and starts a war with Livonian Order. I feel this is the most unreliable guide made by you yet. I still love your guides of course but this guide in particular is just far too unrealistic when you have to rely on something that happens, at most, 3% of the starts. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do in the start instead? Should I just give up going after Teutons provinces and maybe try Reval+Gotland+Stockholm+?

    I really like watching you, but this "guide" is in my opinion not thought through and optimised at all.
    My Reasoning:
    The main Mission of Riga is "Develop our City" which needs alot of buildings and dev. a church/cathedral is one of them.
    The Mission "Papal Embassy" also requires a church/cathedral and unlocks the mechanic to sell indulgences to all katholic nations. Which is needed to do five times for the Mission "Sell Indulgence" for unlocking the rest of the Missiontree of riga and gives a katholic seet.
    So naturaly you would want to get a church/cathedral as fast es possible to first unlock the rest of the Missiontree and sell es much indulgence to the rich nations as possible. ( having a katholic seet unlocks the estate to get more yearly papal influence meaning more possible sold indulgence.)
    The Mission "The City against the State" has as a reward an instantly build cathedral in Riga with some more bonuses. This Mission is therefore the most importend at the start of the Game to do! This leads to not summen the diat since it increases the influence over the Threshold for 10 years of the burgers, not giving out the +1 monthy Manapoints and in general no estates to the burgers. Seasing the Krownlands 2 times gives enough krownland for the Mission so its doable in 1449. Not summaning the diat leads to rebels by seasing krownlands leading to not disband the kavalery at the very start. (disbanding them after the rebeling is fine though since it costs alot of money to refill if thay get damaged.)
    Doing the Mission "Contact the Emperor" is very easily done my insulting a rival of the Austrians. Doing so gives more Time to use the diplomate to get Friends and imprufe Relations for Alliances.
    Once the Mission "Contact with the Hansa" is done. It is Recommended to Leave the Tradeleague since it gives only protaction but takes alot of tradepower away. But Protaction is now granted by being in the HRE.
    Leaving the Tradeleague will boost the tradepower in the baltic sea up to about 10% which the Mission "Compete with the Swedes" needs giving you about 100+ ducates. these ducates can be used to build marketplace if the tech is reached or upgrade the tradecenter to 2. These two options will help to get 3% tradepower in Lübeck along with tradeships (5).
    This way you are on the +2 balance in about 1446 with lowered armee maintainance. And are able to finish the Mission "Develop our City" in about 1460 giving you a balance of 24+ with 30k unites.
    As the 6 provinces i recomend having and taking Riga, Gotland, Saeland, Neva, London and Lisabon. Since it enables playing colonial because the limitation is only on European Lands. These Provinces all have Great Monuments that boost the Trade.
    Sorry for the Long Text but thats my Guide to Riga i guess

      Agreed, but it's actually >less than< 6 provinces, so maximum 5 in Europe. Also, Burgher loans reduce mercantilism and trade power, so I recommend to avoid them.

    I think it would be better to give Finland Stockholm and take dalaskogen for yourself. You will divert trade from everyone anyway.

    How are people allying powerful nations as Riga? I can't come anywhere near allying any nation more powerful than Wolgast. I max out relations, take religious diplomats and I'm atill at -30 to form an alliance. By 1446 every one of them has the "too many relations" modifier. There's no chance to rival a rival, no royal marriage to boost the chance.
    I can support Swedish independence, but they generally wait forever to rebel.

    Feel like this isn't a great guide, seems rushed and like hawk was making a guide for riga more to just get one out asap. Not going for City against the state is such a terrible idea. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think this was a good guide

    Eh Lübeck is still stronger, simply because the Lübeck node is infinitely better than the baltic one. Baltic misses out on all of western and central europe
