- Spring is just around the corner! Hopefully. So that means any unfinished projects need to be gone through and prepped for summer cruising season.
Last fall I converted a 1957 Chevy 4 door hard top into a 2 door roadster. I built the whole car in a hurry to get a few miles in before winter. That means a cut a few corners, and the car needs a thorough once over.
Mechanically the car is sounds but all the little things need addressed.
Proper paint
New Interior
Gauges
Trim/chrome
Are all must haves before this car see's the road again.

That bottle of Lucas deserves a special mention for defying gravity. At 21:38 it's an unwritten rule that the guy who's out in the middle of winter driving a primered '57 Chevy convertible with the hood strapped down automatically has the right of way haha.
You know all of us "car people" usually get down at a point and overwhelmed with what's "left" to do on a project. You just roll with it and I appreciate that. All of us should stop, take a look how far we've come and enjoy the moment. Love the videos!

Just need to install heated seats and it's the perfect winter rig 🤣🤣
Use clear saran wrap for the material and drive through the rain, and you get to keep the convertable top down look. Make people do a double take as you drive by dry during a major storm like it was nothing.
@@truetech4158 driving in the rain is no problem with the top down. The air forced over the windshield keeps you dry. It's when you have to stop you get soaked. Then you wish you had a power top 😅

Last fall my girlfriend and I saw you driving your 57 ragtop around the perimeter. Way before I accidentally discovered your utube channel. I thought at the time; what a super cool chevy.

Absolutely love the Big Block Tunnel Ram Nova, watching you drive it to your dads place made me miss rowing the gears in my Camaro. Driving here in NB is still a few months off. But I have to put my front end back together first, replacing the 40 year old parts with polly stuff. No heat in the garage so will have to wait till it warms up a bit to paint the parts. Love the Channel thanks for the content.
I have to say, the left fender paint on the live stream really suits the car, bright red 57 chevy convertible, real head turner

So, steering box clearance issues, back in the late 70's when we used to race the Orange Crush at Cedar Lake Speedway in Somerset WI I recall the pit crew looking over a nice 57 chev a guy had brought to the pits to show off. He said of course we had to dent the headers...my whole pit crew cracked up laughing. I thought that was kinda cruel so i asked why. Well everyone knows that you just swap in a Vega steering box. There it is. Also available with a nice tight power steering option in case Danny wants PS for her convertible. Just FYI if you have trouble finding the steering boxes Buick,Pontiac, and Olds made "Vegas" too.

She looks good going down the road even with the top down in winter.my 65 Impala felt like top was down then summer came I found someone stole the kick panel vents.felt stupid as shit when I found that.

I am anticipating seeing the convertible project move forward. I like the Nova too. I had one when I was in high school.

You sir, are a true hot-rodder. It takes a certain kind of person to drive a topless car home at negative 10-15 degrees (I'm assuming C, not F, but that's still horribly cold) on snow and slush covered roads.
I can't wait to see the plaid and black interior on the convertible , that is going to be very cool . Some of the 70s cars did bad ass interiors back then , like the Levi's jeans Gremlins , i even remember seeing vinyl tops with the same pattern as the seat covers , some were checks , some were plaid also , and it was either Cameros or Firebirds that did that . But things were just fun and the manufacturers they were trying to reach the youth market .
the Gucci Gremlin was expensive and the interlocking G's plastic insert on the headrests was hard asf and shoulda been embroidered

Lol ! I Had a moment , when you were shuffling cars there , that I was like , "Wow ! When did he put a bug catcher on the 57 Vert , & a hard top , standard ?" Nova , Doh ! The entrance to Mur's garage was priceless with the Nova ! Cool ! You got them swapped out safe , & with lots of sound . Sorry , been a long day , worked 10 hours , then came home & installed a new alternator , for the 2nd time . 1st new one was no good . This one was good , Hallelujah ! I pulled a Dan today , no shop , NY , 36 F In the driveway . At least I know what Elantra means in English now ," You hands no fit in the engine bay , round-eye ! " Who says Koreans don't have a sense of humor . Best Lucas oil commercial I've seen yet ! Have a good 1 , guys !

Don't get me wrong Dan, I love my American Muscle. But I had a 66 Volvo Amazon 122s with that whopping 100hp Penta engine which finally blew up at almost half a million miles. So I did the right thing an SBC her. Ended up losing my license with her oooooops lol. But damn that lil thing was so much fun. Bought her for 300.00 with a little over 300,000 on her. She sat for 17 yrs. Played around with those good ole SU-6 carbs, did some valve adjustment got her going an hadda blast for 3 years. Those cars were so far ahead of there time and tough as nails. Enjoy your channel Dan. Keep On Motoring brother!!!

Not much different than Indiana at times, snow piled high by the curbs (road side) at times can blind your vision and others. Then of course you have to learn to rock a car by back and forth or risk getting stuck. Many people have no idea of the joys of Winter! We been lucky this year. Mission accomplished. Good vid! May you have better times ahead.

You should invest in an exhaust hose/fan system. You could run those un-catted cars in the garage without experiencing death by unburned hydrocarbons.

Summer cruising is not hopefully, it's a given and it's soon and I'm pumped and ready.
Camera audio is tough to diagnose but listening to the engine it almost sounds as if she has a bad wrist pin. Not a lower end knock and definitely not valve train. But again it’s tough to tell when your not I person. Hope she holds up for you.

One of my favorite shows as a kid was, where in the world is Carmen Sadigo. Wpg is the biggest little city in the world. I like trying to figure out which part of the city you're located. Based on previous videos and this video i think i got it figured out to within a few blocks. Keep up the content.
