it's pretty typical for Midway to use digitized graphics in that time period (mid 90s). They did this with many games like Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam. But this video is 4k upscaled resolution which is even better than the arcade Wolf Unit cabinet screen of 400x254
@@tynao2029 "But this video is 4k upscaled resolution which is even better than the arcade Wolf Unit cabinet screen of 400x254" This is a linear upscale, so this doesn't change anything.
You have to admit it was truly ahead of its time. Seeing the old behind the scenes videos on RUclips with all the wrestlers performing their moves and taunts really shows they loved working on the game and they gave it their all. The sound design is beyond exceptional. The commentary from Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler is pretty great along with the crowd and makes you feel like you are watching an over the top wrestling match. Hearing Jim Johnson's WWE music is so awesome. Its cool to see that the ai would fight each other and not just you and that they could hurt themselves. It looks incredibly fun. We can all agree the roster could have been bigger and better but then again WWE were in a really bad place when this game was being made and this was the best they had. It truly did pave the way for future wrestling games.
I think one of the most impressive achievements is how the developers managed to convey the sense that the wrestlers are genuinely holding/grappling with another person; can't have been easy.
Man I played the hell out of this game as a kid. The passing of Scott Hall just made me remember it. It was so much fun, when you hit Yokozuna whole turkeys would fly out of his body. Good times man. Rest In Power to one of the greatest to ever step into the ring.
38 years old guy here. I was in 3rd standard back in 1992. Went to an arcade game shop with my parents after school in school uniform. Played this game and went crazy just by seeing the graphics and gameplay. Cried a lot because I wanted the same for myself. After a few months convinced my parents to buy me a sega 16-bit, although I didn’t know that this game wasn’t on that console. So went to a shop and asked for a wwe game, he handed me wwf royal rumble cartridge, it was the best decision of my gaming life. Couldn’t be happier with worse graphics but the best gameplay ever!
This is such a Midway game lol. I wore this game out. And when I tell you I wore this game out, I mean I WORE THIS GAME OUT! It was all I would play as soon as I got home from school and it never got old. It's crazy to think that I'll be 40 when this game turns 30 (which is soon I might add). And it hasn't lost a step. It still looks as good as it did when I laid eyes on it. Thank you for this nostalgia trip down memory lane. To have been a kid in the 90s man I swear nothing compares.
The Graphics is amazing, funny thing is I probably played this when I was a kid, since I use to play WWF Games back in the day but this is just refreshing my memory
Never played any of these WWF games at all, but watching this I can see the appeal. It's really cool that each of the wrestlers have unique moves and special attacks that reflect their motif. I love the over the top 90's SFX too.
I remember making a temporary exchange of my SF2 champion edition on Sega mega drive for this cartridge back in the 90's. Then being blown away by how much the game play impressed me.
Great, groundbreaking wrestling game for 1995. WCW vs the World is another one of the same caliber. Played the hell out of this in 1996 on my Sega Genesis. It took me until a year later to realize that Diesel was in WWF Monday Night Raw (1994) but not in this game (1995)? Other glaring omissions from this game are Owen Hart, Tatanka, IRS, The 1-2-3 Kid, Men on a Mission, The Smoking Guns and Bob Backlund.
It’s great that home consoles today have better graphics and more computing power than we could have EVER EVEN IMAGINED back when arcades was a thing but there was something special about being at the arcade and standing around shoulder to shoulder with other people watching someone do some amazing play whether it be v the computer or another person. As a late 80s 90s kid I never realized how good we had it…. I wish arcades still existed in malls minus having to pay .25 per play
I remember there being some move that allowed you to do 3 tombstones (piledrivers) with some kind shade/ delayed outlining. (similar to the finish move when you put the opponent in the coffin.

I played this game in the arcade (Enchanted Castle) as a child and had it on both Sega Genesis and PC. Every blue moon I play it on my PC via MAME. This is my all-time favorite video game. Undertaker and Brett Hart were my preferred choices. Great memories here! I miss the 90s.
Even that I was very good at doing full combos for most of the fighters, I never seen "fatalities" in this game. I guess there are none in the SEGA version.
There was supposed to be fatalities for everyone, but only Undertaker's was done. There were rumors that Yokozuna could drop the house lights on his opponent, but it's not in the game.
I remember back in 1995 being 14 years old sitting in my attic room late dark winter nights playing. Had it on 3,5 diskette to hard drive. This was when wrestling was still fun with bigger than life characters.
I was the best player of this game on SEGA 😍 absolutely amazing game! Razor Ramon my fav character 👍🏼😂 Oh and I remember one combo I made with him, it was 30+ hits and I launched my opponent over the moon in that match. It's was so orgasmic! 😁👌🏼
Half of the rosters in this game had passed away. First, Yokozuna. Then, Bam Bam Bigelow. After that, Doink The Clown. Now, Razor Ramon. The rest had retired with good life.
I think WCW Revenge kicked it off, that game got so much praise then WM2000, and then No Mercy from WWF/E. Edit: I definitely forgot about Warzone & Attitude. Those games were awesome.
