    What I like is not being the same as everyone else. With a lot of youtubers a new piece of gear comes out. Then everyone is making the same video the same week with the same gear. Everyone of them say the same talking points and always remind you. Its sponsored but their opinions are their own. lol You don't do that and that's why I love the channel. Maybe your not as big but then again you haven't sold out. That I can get behind. Thanks for all the content and thanks for showing us things most don't cover.

    I love how you're doing this just for fun, and focus on free and cheap stuff. I respect anyone who can do music based content on RUclips in the long term! I did a music/gear review channel(Brothers in Metal) and gave up and started a new channel(in a different niche) when music content was too much for me. For me it was draining to always come up with songs, and I don't know how you do it. lol I talked with you a bit in the early days on your channel, and its good you're still going strong. I still don't think anyone is covering free/cheap plugins better than you.

    Your channel honestly keeps me inspired to write and continue to try all sorts of different stuff to expand the sonic palette. I definitely agree about some of the guys running gear channel just phoning it in, and you can just see the burnout on their faces, but guys like you, Kyle Bull and Taylor Danley keep things interesting and having made friends with Taylor and the guys in his discord over the years, it's been nice to be a part of a really solid community of dudes who just want to nerd out about chugs and gear, be it digital or physical

    Man you hit the nail on the head with the points about authenticity. I've only recently realized the extent of it with the appearance of a certain brand of "kreative" laptops in a lot of sponsored youtube videos. A lot of channels I enjoy featured them and I couldn't help notice that none of them mentioned where these devices were shipped from. It turns out anyone ordering them from within the EU (probably a sizable portion of their viewers) could expect to pay about 35% more than the advertised price because these laptops were shipped from outside the EU, thats factoring in import duty, VAT etc. The sponsored videos were transparent about them being a sponsored video but all omitted that fairly significant detail that would mean potential buyers would have to pay a lot more than it appeared. You could argue its not their responsibility to make viewers aware of the import duty and tax implications of all products they advertise but I think in most cases most products they advertise can be sourced from multiple retailers in their area so these kind of extra costs can be avoided. Of course thats also not a concern for plugins that can be bought online. These laptops are sold by one individual company and are shipped from a part of the world that will almost certainly incur a significant additional charge for many viewers and it just left a sour taste in my mouth that none of the sponsored videos mentioned it, and many of these were from channels I've been a fan of for years. Ok rant over, wasn't planning on that being a novel but I just wanted to say your point about authenticity is appreciated as are all your videos good sir. Keep up the awesome work.

    Awesome stuff. Agreed on Wavemind, they came outa left field swinging. Wonder what's up with them discontinuing the drive pedals? hmm.
    I hear you about the authenticity thing. Generally I like the small channels. It might not be pretty looking or have fifty jumpcuts but the real life tone of someone dialing a plug is there, and that's what i'm all about.
    Awesome mix and tune. It really is about how to use the tools we already have vs buying ten EQ's and multiband this and that. Those are nice, I'll buy the occasional dynamics plug here and there. But workable and pro sounds can be had for free (except drums).

    Your mixes are alwayz top notch !
    I'm having hard time with my overall mixes, I'm missing some thing.. I mostly use Bogren stuff that are suppposed to be mix ready. Khrim drums and ampknobs or Nam with bogren IRs.
    The drums sound really food on itself but its very heavy in the low end in the mix. When I compare to a reference track its always too boomy and muddy, its like I have to cut the drum and the bass at 60 hz or so. Dot the guitars even with the bogren IRs I have to cut a 100Hz minimum. I play in D standard so its not too bass heavy 😅. When I've watched your mix tutorial you didn't have to make big treatment on the drum.
    Maybe I have to watch more tutorials on this drumkit.
    I use a panda kit, the sentinel, that is really less bassy and is really cool. But it sound less natural.

    • @MaximusAdonicus
      @MaximusAdonicus 2 дня назад

      You didn't mention ur bass setup at all! What if it's not the drums, but the bass guitar causing all the problems?! Cause boomy is a keyword for out of control bass (guitar).

      @MaximusAdonicus I was using simon grove bass vsti, now I use panda bass from panda sound and its more easier too keep thing under control. But you're right I certainly must look forward to upgrade my bass buss treatment

      @MaximusAdonicus День назад

      @@James-o1w5h VST instruments in general shouldn't even become very boomy, in my experience (vs real instruments). There's also the chance it's just ur speakers/room creating mad buildup at around 100Hz? :D Tried verifying the problem with headphones?
      The key to boomy bass is heavy compression!
      The key to muddiness is having the kick hit at diff main frequency than the bass guitar!

    • @James-o1w5h
      @James-o1w5h День назад

      @@MaximusAdonicus I think modern vsti are bass heavy to plz the ears out of the box , and modern production are quite heavy too. I 'm not good at compression and it must be the key.
      I compare my mix with a référence track ( my type of sound is Sylosis)and Il alwayz too bass heavy. I mix most of the time with tbe headphone, that doen't help I know.
      But since I bought a mixed sessions from panda soud store, it helped me a lot for better mix between instruments , I may be not so far to achieve an acceptable sound

    Although I partially agree with your list of the best plugins in 2024, but everyone's ears are different, as are the genres of music, but today there are no best plugins, because all modern plugins sound good and are made better than 10 years ago and there are so many of them that sometimes it is difficult to make a choice, and there is plenty to choose from, so everyone can find the best plugin for themselves.

      Hmm, I assume these people are showing u full mixes with who knows what done to them? But when speaking about raw tones (like a "live" jam showcase), then the only things that truly affect it are the IR and the guitar. But if u have the same IR and any guitar with GOOD pickups, u should have very similar results 🤔
