Truly astonishing, amazing voice - who ever sings in Sebadoh does a good job but this is a festival of 2nd and 3rd harmonics and pure joy - a voice that just sits in the mix with authority!
And what exactly have you done and achieved with your "E to E tuning"? Sonic Youth had up to 22 different tunings per concert, one size does not fit all my friend. It is about the music, and this is pretty much one of the best tunes in rock. Note that he has a huge capo on his guitar - do you know what is it for? Hint: it changes the intonation (tuning for morons). Let me know when you come up with a tune like this (pun intended).
Man, I wasn't being sarcastic haahah really, I love how they played it, I am not some asshole that thinks music needs to be straight. Sorry if I did you think wrong.
EEstrike yes, their performances are few and far in between, I wish I could find any version of "Nick of time", but this takes the cake, the original Bakesale "Careful" was tamer, this sure makes up for it!
These song is one of my favourite song ever but I don't like this version. Jason sings with energy but the guitar solo and the bass are confused instead of dialoguing just like in the studio version. My nightmare would be to drive for hours to go to a concert and listen to this kind of massacre.
I agree with the consensus that this is a fairly unflattering rendition of the studio version - but also I can see why they’d want to mix it up a bit. Decades of playing the same songs must get boring, I say we let them experiment and go for whatever they feel like makes the song fresh. The bakesale version will be there forever, it’s not like this overwrites that.
This is my favourite song of all time.

I have always thought that, too. It's an incredible song.
You can't even imagine how i love them
"Watch out for my pulpit"! And Bob holding his laughter. Oh the great live moments.
Bob left the band years before this recording.
different Bob
Amazing! Saw them live yesterday and it's clear the fact that they enjoy playing
Bass was mixed too low!! What the heck KEXP?
far to low. otherwise good rendition,
Nothing wrong with the mix, KEXP-mixes are always good. But Lou Barlow can't play a bass nore a guitar...
First thing i thought, the bass is the best part of this song too..otherwise sounds awesome
Turn the bass up KEXP, this and Preoccupations sound a bit off without the driving bass.
this is like the only live version of this song i can find, thanks guys!
good news, there's at least 2 more now. though it says one was here all along, but maybe it was private or something
@@706wi11 kudos to replying to a 10 year old comment. I got to see Sebadoh live in 2019 so got to see this song performed in person 💪
It's always nice to see a band that doesn't care that much about tuning.

Que Arnold Schoenberg le bendiga.Pero el rock de Sebadoh admite el comentario de Gabrielmarcal y usted no deja de tener razón.@@AlenMecan
That is one interesting looking bass! And yes, great song and great mix kexp. Not too harsh. Sweet ear candy. :)
sebadoh rules ok.

“Watch out for Jake’s pulpit!”
Almost always....
Love this song, but this is a disappointing version. Miss the cool baseline from the recording!
Me too :'(
It’s there but the bass is mixed so low

My reaction exactly. The dialoguing between guitar and bass is the makes this song great. Without it, it's pretty mediocre.
Ever noticed the first notes resembles a lot to Amity by Elliot Smith?
Tinny mix
Wish they sounded better live.

Very good song on tape. But live totally crap, I wonder if they've ever played guitars before...
