I was thinking of taking up metal detecting but not sure of my knees would hold up at my age of 65 with the constant up and down. I guess the only way to find out is just step out into the back yard and give it a few times up and down.

Watch "I Dig Daytona" he has a scoop and almost never has to get on his knees. It is good exercise I'm in my early 70's. the cheep Metal Detectors will work in the dry sand but not near the wet sand. I run a mid level Metal Detector as I have more then one hobby pulling at the pocketbook. Good luck to you.

@@aretirementwellwasted4696 I'm central Texas and not close to a beach so I'd have to do spade digging, I play golf on Tuesdays so bending over is no issue.

Use caution when digging around Cape Henlopen, there's a lot of unexploded munitions present. On a side note, maybe we'll come across each other sometime. I've got a metal detector as well.

Yes there are areas you don’t want to be metal detecting in that park. But areas that are public and camping areas have to be clear. We don’t want someone pounding in tent stakes into the ground and setting off old ordnance. I want a long life just like you. I love flying by air but not in different directions at the same time.  If you know what I mean.
