      Wasn't there a 3rd replacement for Steve? .. my nieces watch Blues Clues, I don't remember the new hosts name, he's black, or was it renewed since then with him as the new host? .. maybe I'm in that alternate universe thing where we remember reality slightly differently, like the Bearenstein/Bearenstain thing? I'm not sure if I spell't that right, but oh well, lol

    The Office was still watchable after Steve Carell left mostly due to the remaining original characters, definitely not because of any new character, but yeah, he was the backbone of the show, it was a tough loss.

      James Spader played Robert California just right. A really creepy boss who didn't even know what the company was about but still convinced Jo, an owner of Dunder Mifflin/Sabre that he could do her job better. Although I think season 8 was quite a weak season, I'm torn between that and season 6 really. I think the final season 9 was a return to the Office's greatness.

    • @Allenluvable

      I thought they were actually going to replace Eric with Bret Harrison (Reaper, Grounded For Life). They began inducting him in as a new member of the group for a few episodes and then ditched him. Think they killed him off by falling from the water tower. Him and Seth Green were both dorky Eric Forman like characters thatd likely chase after Donna but that would be awkward. Seth Meyers was a confident fake dork that could simply swoop in effortlessly.
      It was still good after Eric and Kelso. The really annoying thing was when they pointlessly replaced Erics sister with an entirely different character after she had already moved away. Passed it off as a reference to shows that did that in the 70s

    Two and a half men died when Chuck Lorre fired Charlie Sheen, but I fully understand why he did it - Sheen totally put that on himself. You can't go out in public calling the creator and producer of your TV hit show for an a**hole and a piece of s*it, and all the other nasty things he called him, and still expect to have a job, no matter how big a star you are.

    • @nox5555
      @nox5555 6 лет назад +4

      If its the Star of your show, you talk to them and thats it. the BBC had the Worst case of this, they Ended the biggest show in TV history just because the Star was an Asshole and his Cohosts left whit him when he was fired. Top Gear after that is just Trash---

    • @drdarkeny
      @drdarkeny 6 лет назад +7

      J Rand - actually, it seems like just about everybody who's ever worked for Chuck Lorre ends up calling him that, and worse!
      I'm waiting for Jim Parsons's and Kaley Cuoco's tell-alls about behind the scenes on THE BIG BANG THEORY, and how "Gag Clauses" were written into their contracts so they couldn't publicly ream out Chuck Lorre until five years after they were off the show, or something.

    • @drdarkeny
      @drdarkeny 6 лет назад +2

      Technically they didn't even fire Jeremy Clarkson, nox5555 - they just didn't renew his contract. But yeah, Hammond and May walked out with him - which really helped muddy the waters about How Big An Asshole Is Clarkson, Really?, especially given the BBC made it clear for several seasons preceding they'd like nothing more than to rid themselves of the Climate Change-Denying Loudmouth Tory, and were just looking for an excuse to do so.
      Not that Clarkson isn't an asshole (and he's out of his skull on Climate Change!), but the Beeb knew that about him going in - and his outburst sounds to me like he suffers from severe Hypoglycemia. Not that that excuses his outburst, but an apology & some compensation to the producer in question, along with informing future producers and Clarkson's own staff of his condition and the need to keep food on hand to control his blood sugar, should have covered it. It plays too much like the whole Roseanne flap this way - you want the large audience of a controversial but popular performer, but you're unwilling to deal with the fallout from his/her behavior.

    The Office was great after Carrel left, it was the last season when Andy, Ryan, and Kelly were gone, and they turned Andy into a douche again. As far as Community, there was never going to be a season 7, just possibly a movie after. Hell the finale was about how logically the show couldn't go on because the only one who had a story reason to be there was Jeff and the Dean. The Saving Greendale Committee wouldn't work anymore because the other characters had already gotten multiple degrees. Hell there was even a line about how they could shuffle in new characters and hope they nailed it like the two they added that season who were very well received.

    The Office was all about Michael Scott. Despite the show being in theory an ensemble cast, everyone was secondary to Michael at some degree. I think the producers of the show knew way beforehand Steve Carell leaved the show, that once he was gone they could only exploit the inertia of the show for one or two season more.

      Definitely. I was a huge fan of the show, even though I have absolutely no interest in cars whatsoever. I just watched it because of the hosts and their funny interactions with one another. Without them, the show had absolutely nothing to keep me interested, and I think a lot of other fans felt the same way.

      That show was great the first two seasons when the premise was just trying to get home and what if on other earths. Then they had to go and start screwing with the dynamic to make it "sexier" for younger viewers, which to Hollywood execs means cut the old people and add more boobs. So they killed off the professor and brought on T&A action girl in his place. Then they started screwing with the premise and the show became about whatever movie was popular at the time and a dimensional war with ape men.

      Ray03595 HAHAHA!! Fair enough. It still would have made sense to have someone familar than a whole new character but that probably was the reason. Randy just didn't connect well to most audiences I guess but yes great on Topher returning in the finale. It did manage to stop the pain that was endured that whole season lol

      I know I'm 11 months late, but honestly when I first saw it Topher showing up again pissed me off. I loved Eric, when he popped on screen I was like "HELL YEAH!" but I mean jeez, he didn't even go inside of the fucking house. The lamest ending ever, such a tease.

      Especially as it seems to have done the typical US thing of taking a top comedy show and turning it into a second rate soap opera. Apparently Hollywood writers in television don't know how to sustain good comedy.
      HINT: Comedy should be focused primarily on humor. That's why it's called Comedy. Yeah, you can deal with serious issues and let the characters grow - but *not* at the expense of you raison d'arte!

      It’s sometimes recommended that actors use their real first names so that they don’t get typecast as a character with a different name. Like Urkel or something. Then again, I don’t think Charlie needs to worry about that this far into his acting career. So who knows.
