    Spent five months living out of our Feldon Shelter last year while we travelled 16,000km around NZ. Beth and Joel are incredible to deal with and provide the best customer service we could ask for. We've since moved to Scotland and so has the Feldon Shelter. Worth every cent!

      Oh wow - that would've been an awesome trip! Their customer support is amazing eh - we've only needed it once and they couldn't have done better. Awesome - you guys must be the only ones with a Feldon that far from New Zealand!

      They’re pretty easy solo - tad tricker on top of a wagon, but still not too hard. Awesome way to sleep though!

    I've been in touch with the guys at Feldon Shelter since I saw their gear at fieldays this year. Found your review a couple of days ago and it finally convinced me to order the family size bundle! Will be fitted later this month and then it's definitely adventure time. Thanks for the great review. Love watching your travels.

      Hey Mark - awesome! Glad the video helped you decide - upgrading to the extended tent has been awesome. Are you heading to the Feldon Workshop to get the tent fitted? They're an awesome bunch of people there. Cheers, Daniel

    Nice video and review! Rad set up. Constructive criticism if I may be so bold.... That wide angle shot like at 1.35 is hard to watch with you both so far from the camera!!! Good audio though! ;-)

    Hi guys, wondering if you're able to take the tent off easily or if it's a permanent feature? Cheers

    • @OverlandNZTV
      @OverlandNZTV  4 года назад +1

      Hey! Yep, they can be removed pretty easily if you don't want to keep it on all the time. The Feldon's come with both bolts and thumb screws giving you the choice - takes maybe 10 minutes to remove/install it Hope that helps! Cheers, Daniel

    Hi, when travelling across South Island can you tell me the percentage of types of camp sites you stayed at, I.e. Freedom spots, versus lake sides, versus beaches, etc. I am trying to work out what is acceptable in South Island. We have previously done North and South in Motorhomes but find we cannot get to some of the most beautiful places in Nz.

    Oh gosh, watching that ladder come so close to your blue paint made me cringe. Thanks for the review nonetheless.

    Hi, love the video. I’m currently looking at buying a roof top tent. There are a few options in NZ but not many on display in Christchurch for me to physically view. Was wondering in your experience are there any difference in actual quality between these brands (e.g mud stuck vs Feldon shelter or any other). It’s a 600Nzd difference between to two, so really interested in ensuring money is well spent

      Hey! It is real tricky when you're not in Auckland eh - we had the same issue when trying to decide which one to buy - we were lucky enough to see a few different options on a trip to Auckland before we bought ours - climbed into a few and had a good look at them.
      In terms of quality - most of the tents are "generic" copies of each other built to different standards by the same factory. Some are better than others, but they're more or less the same tent. The Feldon is designed and tested in NZ, has a different shape to deal with our weather conditions better and is made with high quality materials. It's really hard to show through a video, but in person the differences are far more obvious. The Feldon team are awesome to deal with too being a local company who specialise in roof top tents - we had an issue with our cover zip - flicked them a message and a new one was on its way the same day.
      Hope that helps! We wanted to support local and personally though the Feldon was worth the extra few hundred dollars for a tent that will last a long time.

      @OverlandNZTV  4 года назад +1

      Hey! I replied the other day but RUclips seems to have lost the comment - sorry about the delay! It is tricky not being in Auckland eh, makes it far harder to see the tents in person and compare them. The "generic" (Mudstuck/Adventure Kings etc) tents are all the same tent built to different specs, some of them aren't bad quality wise, some of them leave a bit to be desired. The Feldon is an original New Zealand design and works well with our weather. They use some of the same components as the other tents, but it's all much higher quality. We were lucky enough to look at a few tents before we went with the Feldon - it felt better, looks better, everything on it is nicely finished and we wanted something that will last a long time, it's a lot of money to spend. Being a local company and team their customer support is second to none too which is nice if you have an issue. Cheers!

      Overland NZ hi one last question. How would you compare the extended vs the regular, I.e what are the benefits of the extended? In this video you talked about it’s better all year around but is that purely just because you get a little bit more shelter on the end? Are the bill quality the same? Cheers

    • @OverlandNZTV
      @OverlandNZTV  4 года назад +1

      Hey - no worries! Happy to answer any questions. Having the ladder undercover is awesome when it's raining - stops it from getting super slippery. Also gives us a small area to sit under at night when it gets damp outside and saves us having to put everything away (stuff tends to stay dry under it on cold nights). Being able to run a light in the 'extended' bit is nice too when climbing up and down at night. We're going to grab a bonus room at some point too - the bigger tent will give us far more "inside" room with that. The build quality of the two tents is the same (really good) - the unfolding is slightly different but still super easy. Cheers

    hey Daniel, can you store the bedding inside the tent?

    • @OverlandNZTV
      @OverlandNZTV  4 года назад +3

      Heya - sure can! We leave our sleeping bags, pillows, books and sleeping clothes in the tent when we fold it up - saves so much room in the vehicle!

    • @OverlandNZTV
      @OverlandNZTV  4 года назад

      Hey Ryan - we originally had the standard tent as I wasn't sure it was worth it - since upgrading I wouldn't go back. Having the ladder undercover when it's raining is amazing and having more storage space overnight around the campsite is awesome - saves putting everything away. We're going to grab the bonus room at some point too, the bigger tent gives way more space in that. Hope that helps! Cheers, Daniel

    Hey guys, what do you like about the extended one over the regular one? Im looking at getting one, cheers

    • @OverlandNZTV
      @OverlandNZTV  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Jason - having the ladder covered and the extra protection from the elements is awesome, makes more difference than I was expecting. I've also hooked up a light on the pole that holes the extended bit up - it's way easier climbing the ladder being able to see. Going to grab an annex at some point too and get even more 'dry' space. Lots of little things - but personally I reckon it's worth it. Cheers, Daniel

      Hey mate! I can't see there being any issues there - two people tend to weigh more than that. Could be worth flicking Feldon a message to confirm though
