4:09 About the caption: It's always wise to think about alternative explanations, of course. But in my case I can definitely debunk the pre-existing muscle maturity and density theory. I've taken up sandbag and other odd objects lifting only late October last year on my 53rd birthday after almost four decades of mostly bodybuilding style training and a bit of calisthenics in the last couple of years. So it's safe to say I've had the majority of my muscle mass and also a considerable level of muscle maturity before. And still, especially my inner back feels much denser now compared to half a year ago. And my glutes and hamstrings have at least regained most of their size from my younger and more leg training enthusiastic days. Also, objectively I've gained a lot of strength, although mostly in the awkward object lifts themselves, so technique may have also played a role in that.

Started first off with a fitness sandbag that could go up to 140 lbs, but I never maxed it out. Just loaded it lighter and did a lot of volume with it. Purchased a 200 lb strongman sb and filled it to 150 lbs and started with managing only a couple of sb to shoulder reps. After months dedicated training with it, I fully loaded it to 200 lbs. Can only get about 4 to 5 reps on SB to shoulder with it each set, and have also implemented doing bearhug carries with it too. Cannot tell you how much my back, traps, arms, forearms and core have exploded, muscle and strength wise. It's a different type of feeling than when I lifted strictly barbell, dumbbell and kettlebell. My goal is to eventually get to 300 lbs. Wish I would've trained sandbags sooner. It's so much more fun than using other implements and I can throw it around and slam it in my yard without having to worry about anything lol

Even with the rise of videos on sandbag training from Strongman athletes or people that lean toward that style of training, I feel that Sandbag training and heavy sandbag training still doesn’t get the credit and recognition it deserves. Which is astounding because before barbells, dumbbells and machines, people lifted with what was around. Stones, odd objects, sandbags, their own body etc. Maybe that’s why I prefer this style of training. Makes me feel like I’m going back to my roots and it just feels so much more primal.

Just got into sand bagging. Been training for a while in the gym, but just this week, made my own DIY bags. And I already love it. Sore as hell. But the potential is already visible. This video was awesome.
I just ordered a sandbag for myself and your channel is a very useful and inspiring source of information. You seem genuinely passionate and it shows in your enthusiasm and energy in your videos.

This is an excellent video, there's so much good information here, those sandbag high pulls are genius I have to do these. I really like these longer informative videos they're excellent
Thank you! I'm really glad to see you guys who have been here pretty much from day one are enjoying the longer videos. They take a lot longer to make (possibly a major understatement lol) but it's very rewarding so see the whole thing come together in the end
Having started watching and tuning in to your content just a few weeks now, over this past weekend (6/22/24-6/23/24) I made a DIY 100lb sandbag to incorporate some of this form of training into my functional training regimen. And holy cow! It's working me out like never before, humbling me all over again as I learn this stuff. Definitely awesome stuff! You along with The Bioneer have helped me tremendously to up my training game. Keep on rockin'! 🤘
Hey that's so awesome!! It's always surprising how difficult 100lbs can be haha, such a good feeling! The Bioneer seems like a great guy, glad I could help too!
Lately I’ve been thinking about this type of training ever since I came across your page I believe this type of strength training develops “ true strength “ that translate to real life task Now my goal is to strengthen my body in every awkward position which will eventually translate to my compound lift such as the squat and deadlift it’ll become a lot easier Now I’m working backwards to make sure I strengthen my weak points
Finally, got some use out of them old military duffel bags. One of the -100lbs ones can get a little aggressive and toss it around w/ some exercises. Good video.
Just ordered a 70 kg (155 lbs) bag after discovering sandbag work for conditioning. I have been training with an only 50 kg (110 lbs) one. Can’t wait to go after undiscovered size and strength gains! Good video 🦍
That's awesome you're gonna make some great progress!! I think the most progress I ever made was with a stone just about that size. Heavy enough to feel the resistance, but light enough you can get a lot of work in. Good luck!
Upper back looking ridiculous in the carry clips. My time in combat sports will be short so you relating sandbags to wrestling is awesome to me, I hope to work it into my rotation in the future.
Thank you! Crazy thing is those videos of me carrying the sandbag outside are actually from right before I started training my back everyday, so hopefully once I lean down a little more it'll be even better! I always felt the same way, there's something inherently cool about strength and size gained from wrestling/grappling. Good luck with it!
Great video. More informative than most. Never done sandbags, but have been thinking the last few weeks on this. Heavy lift have not really aimed for in training years now age of 45yrs, though now just want to lift heavy. Am tall 6ft, slight in frame but do want to aim heavy. I like walking on the country hills, UK based, so want this as downtime and cardio if i pace it up. Hope i will make effort to try this.
I have a brand new Cerberus bag I’ve never opened. I think today I’ll be getting the requisite parts. I’ve made and used many sandbags over the years from army duffel bags to a Cerberus my nephew stole during Covid. I’ve just never got around to setting up the new one.
I had this idea for a kitchen fitness routine that involves walking, lifting heavy boxes overhead, and moving sacks of flour, sugar, and vegetables around. 😊
Sandbags. I got it. I really like your videos and they style ou are presenting them. One small gripe, the sound you recorded in the room sound bad, it was better in previous videos.
Sir i love your videos .i am kind of guy who had a weak back my whole life and it is a good exercise . Please can you make a video on the muscles build in all the three sand bag exercises
I find your videos immensely helpful so this may come as a surprise to you but here it goes: i still have trouble figuring out how to get the sandbag off of the floor and into a bear hug position, resting on my lap. It's the getup part that i still cannot make out - remember that i am training on my own - and i'd want to avoid getting injured or worsening my pre-existing lower back issues. How do i get it up? Do i do it in a partial squat with slightly bent knees and trunk parallel to the ground? Or do i use row it in place with my back and arms? Or do i rely on my leg strength? Or a mix of everything? If you can, make a video, even as short as less than a minute long, giving the proper instruction. That'd be of great help. Thanks ;-) P.S. You can simply tell me how to do it correctly, no video required 😀
Hey I'm glad you like the videos! I used to kinda shout in my videos for some reason haha but if you can get past that, this should help! ruclips.net/video/69gorZAu7yM/видео.htmlsi=kQNBnCVI3j71KiIw
If I buy that large Ironmind sandbag and fill it with 150 lbs of sand, is it gonna be tight or loose? Awesome channel thank you so much for your content.
You can sinch it down and it will stay pretty tightly packed, but I've definitely noticed my 150 ironmind doesn't stay as tight as it does with 250. Thank you!!
Thank you! That sounds like a great combo, strength plus mobility and strength endurance! Swings have helped me a lot with strength off the lap with a sandbag
@@thestonecircle Sandbag high pulls dude!!! That's how I can train for cleaning the axle bar, from belt to shoulders!! It will also help with an atlas stones event. You're a genius dude!!
@@unknownstrongman Damn perfect timing!! I've definitely seen an improvement in explosive power since I started doing these. I have a video from way back where I was doing sandbag highpulls and it's crazy to see how much more power I have now compared to then
Great info! At the moment I've been using a 150lbs bag for loading and carrying (Not bad for a 50 yr old dude!). When would I consider moving up and how much should the next bag be? I have a 200lbs empty bag I can fill to my liking. Thanks for your 2 cents!
Nice that's so awesome!! I've realized recently it depends a lot on which bags you have. For example I use an ironmind bag, and I recently got a cerberus bag that is about 40-50 pounds heavier. The cerberus bag actually seems to be a lot wider than the ironmind, which has made it way more difficult! If you have the same brand I think the 200 pound bag would be doable once you feel pretty strong with the 150, but 175 might be a more realistic jump. Though I know how annoying it is to get the bag all set and have to refill it again haha. If it was me I'd probably go for the 200 once I could easily get the 150 to chest height every time, but the jump will be tough!
Damn man, I’m gonna have to invest in some sandbags. They look like they could pair well with javorek barbell complexes and kettlebell complexes. This could help prep me for picking up this stone that’s in my yard!
@@thestonecircle I learned about them from coach Dan John. They were invented by Istvan Javorek, and it’s basically a series of exercises you perform with a barbell for reps without putting it down until they’re all completed. He’s got many different complexes, or you can be creative with your own. So for example, say you pick up a loaded barbell of 95 lbs, one complex would be 8 reps of rows, then 8 reps of cleans, then 8 reps of front squats, then 8 reps of military presses, bring the bar over your head, then 8 reps of back squats, and then finally 8 reps of good mornings. Bring the bar back over your head and now you can set it down, and that completes one set. Coach Dan John talked about how he’d get his high school football athletes to do these and once they could get to around 150 lbs or more without stopping a complex, then that’s pretty strong. It seems easy with lighter weights until you realize you can’t put the barbell down and your body is constantly under tension the whole time, so it’s a fun workout. I’ve done variations like snatch grip deadlift, then hang power snatch, then snatch grip overhead squat, then snatch grip behind the neck press, then finally drop snatches. Hell of a workout! You should also look into Girevoy/Kettlebell Sport. I mentioned kettlebell complexes, which are awesome too (like a double clean, single press, triple front squat complex for EMOM), but I noticed after lots of research that Kettlebell Sport seems to be a requirement in Russia before going into certain fields like EMT, military, or firefighting. Apparently men have to be required to be proficient in double 32kg kettlebells, and women double 24kg kettlebells. I tried out double 16kg for long cycle (which is a clean and press), and I couldn’t make 10 minutes. I had to break it up a minute or two at a time. It’s incredibly difficult. I guess it can take a man at least 2 years before being able to do these exercises with double 32kg for 10 minutes minimum.
@duchaneaux oh awesome Dan John is the man! I used to read all his stuff on tnation, and I've tried a few of his barbell Circuits, they really are killer! I also did his 10,000 kettlebell challenge if you know the one, learned a lot in those 10 days aha. I didn't know that about Russia and kettlebells though, that's something I could really get behind though. Reminds me of the fisherman in Iceland who earned their wage based on which stones they could lift
I love calisthenics and sandbags. The simplicity and availability of calisthenics and working out in fresh air is so much more appealing than the gym to me. I would like to know if you think sandbags could completely replace the barbell or the regular gym ? Great content my man ❤
Calisthenics and sandbags the perfect combo!! Glad you like the video 🙂 I replaced all heavy lifting with sandbags a few months ago and it's been going really well!
Not as experienced as Stone Circle, but I trained with just two sandbags and calisthenics movements for a while right before and after my baby was born. You can replace a lot of gym movements but I find two limitations. 1. Overhead strength: Instability and lack of grip mean you will have to progress very slowly and carefully if pressing sandbags overhead. For calisthenics there are handstand push-ups but that’s pretty technical and difficult to learn especially if you are on the heavier side like me. 2. Leg Training: With sandbags, for almost everyone - upper back strength, core strength, and/or conditioning will be a limitation when trying to do squats or similar types of movements. Overloading quads is easier with a barbell than any other implement. Maybe legs are more naturally suited to strength endurance anyway but if you are used to squatting 315+ you can’t recreate that stimulus easily.
@lukebbuff great points man! I prefer getting my overhead work in with calisthenics for sure. And I have to agree in my experience nothing wrecks the quads like a basic barbell squat! I still think the trade off is worth it for the specificity I'm after personally, but I had 1 barbell day a week for a long time just for squats because they're so effective
This is awesome, i want to get a sandbag and start training this way! Does anyone recommend a certain brand or specific bags? Or am i overthinking it and any sandbag will do?
Love your content. You’ve convinced me to utilize sandbag training and body weight training. I’m curious about your large sandbag, how did you determine the right amount of “looseness”? I plan on making several incrementally heavy tight bags with 1 or 2 heavy loose ones. Was curious on your set up. Take care and thank you!
That's so awesome to hear!! My experience has been the best loosely packed sandbags are filled enough so the bag can't fold completely in half, and two opposite sides can never meet in the middle, but loose enough that every part of the sandbag changes shape when lifted. I hope that makes sense haha I just realized how difficult it is to put that into words
@@thestonecircle thank you! Makes sense. I can play around with it and I can see how your bag works from your videos. So I’ll get it close enough. Keep up the great content.
Hey good to see you! That's a good idea, I might try taking my sandbag outside for that once the snow melts! I do some occasional stone throwing and really enjoy it so far
Hi, thank you very much for your job showing us about carrying weight, I'd like to ask, would you mind to make a video about how to breath while carrying sandbag, like bearhug walk or shouldering etc. etc. Many Many thanks!!)))
Hey thank you I'm glad you liked the video!! I go over breathing in depth in this vid, hope that helps!:) ruclips.net/video/69gorZAu7yM/видео.htmlsi=gAxyA_jNKWlyUTCa
Great video. I Will huilt one myself. It seems the sandbag lack of rotational exercise of movement unless you have developed one specific is this field is better to use a medical ball for example.
Hey thank you! You're right, the sandbag offers a lot of unique benefits, but heavy bags don't work rotational strength too much, med/slam ball is great for that fir sure! Also some specific band exercises too. Good luck!
Ive been lifting for years.lately I’ve had alot of shoulder issues here and there I’ve pretty much giving up dumbbells and have switched to kettlebells and dumbbell’s, ive been going slowly and a-lot lighter than i used to.. im interested in a-lot of these. I believe this is the better and more functional now that im in early thirties..i used to carry my heavy bag just to do it as a teen.. i was looking at the Rogue camo sand bag??. Would you recommend it? Very interested in it and all these videos.. appreciate your feedback
Hey glad you like the vid, sandbags are so worth it imo! I have one of the rogue Strongman sandbags and it's awesome, can't go wrong with them. Always high quality. My personal favorite sandbag is the ironmind tough as nails adjustable 300lb bag, but either should serve you well!
Im curious about the size/weight of the bags youre lifting? Im in the market to purchase some and the 60-100 lb bags look considerably smaller than what youve got going on there.
do you use bags that are comparable to your body weight? Like a bag that's body weight for your working sets and then work to a bag 50lbs over body weight, something like that?
I've kinda gone full on sandbag to shoulder specialization over these last few months as I'm trying to reach 300 by the end of the year. So I've been pushing the weights a bit. There are some good standards to aim for though, bodyweight carried for 30 seconds seems to be a good goal to aim for!
I have never done any type of weight lifting. However, I am very interested in developing "farmer strength". Is it possible to develop muscles and strength solely using sandbag training, farmer walks and etc?
This video is truly incredible! Just finished college and want to really start exercising and transition from my sedentary life style. I will be doing sandbag training. A couple questions, any recommendation for what type of bag to use? Also is sand the best to fill it with or is there something else.
Hey thank you I'm glad to hear it!! I like lifting Heavy sandbags and I think they can have the biggest impact over the long term. Heavy sandbags only really come in the traditional 'strongman' style (no handles or anything) so my recommendation would be to start with that style from the beginning so you build that specific strength right away. If you're just starting out you can make one yourself out of a thrift store canvas bag and some contractor trashbags if you don't want to get a fancy one you'll outgrow! I use 'play sand' from home depot, but you could use anything and it should be fine. My first sandbag was made with landscaping rocks and it held up pretty well!
i can deadlift 315lb for 1RM. Is 135lb a good weight for my first heavy sandbag? i will make it myself with sand so i will be able to add more in the future. I want it for extra fun aside lifting in the gym, so mostly for shouldering and carrying
I think 135 should be good! It will probably feel really unexpectedly heavy at first, but you should adapt pretty quick! If you're making it yourself and changing weight isn't too much of a hassle, you might even be good with 100 at first, somewhere in that 100-135 range should work well. Good luck!!
Re-wacthing this. So... My next sandbag should be heavy duty cerverus 70-100kg am I right? I can either do that or go for the 80kg dual-ply (same as the 60kg I have been working with for the past month). In retrospective do you still think that the losely packed sandbag pays off? (As in, the challenge of the sand moving around being worth it)
Hey! The cerberus dual ply are so nice. I think getting the 80kg would be a good jump, and it might keep you busy for another couple months, but seeing how fast you conquered that 60kg I'm reluctant to recommend such an expensive sandbag you'll outgrow haha. Getting the heavy duty would give you more room to grow for sure. If you're gonna get a sandbag with that top knot style though I recommend the www.ironmind-store.com/Large-Tough-As-Nails-Cordura-Sandbag-24-x-36/productinfo/1390-A/ I've had mine for years, dropped it on thorns and sticks and rocks repeatedly and it's sturdy as ever. Also goes up to 300lbs so you can use it forever. That top knot does get annoying after a while though. I think for general strength the loosely packed sandbag is still great, but now that I'm pushing the sandbag to shoulder specialization I find the loosely packed bag annoying. Just because it forces me to get more out of less weight and right now I want more weight haha
@@thestonecircle Interesting... I think I'll either get the ironmind one or I'll try to lift the 60kg for as many reps as I can on each workout and jump straight into the 100kg dual ply. 100kg sounds extremely heavy, like totally out of my reach, but so did 60. If I also keep lifting heavier stones it should be possible.
I want to get started with this type of real-world training. I'll keep doing calisthenics on the side but i want the extra challenge. What weight would be a good starting point for sandbags? And what about the strongman log? I'd like to give that one a shot too. Let me know what your thoughts are and thank you.
Hey that's awesome good luck!! Here's for the sandbags ruclips.net/video/ZlXPac951jY/видео.htmlsi=KADKp1QeVqAqN5SD For the log it really depends. I started straight away with the 12" and while it was a lot of fun to lift, the wide fixed handles didn't work so well with my smaller frame and I started having shoulder and sternum pain. It will probably be different for everyone, but it could be worth trying out a 8" or 10" first
@@thestonecircle Wow! Thanks pal for the swift and highly considerate reply. Much appreciated! I'll be sure to follow your advice regarding the log, because I myself am awkwardly built: I have broad shoulders and a wide chest but am only 5'10'' and a scarce 165 lbs. I am based in Europe : any suggestions for a loadable log? Thanks again!
@wadsworth2351 hey no problem!! I hope the sandbag/ log stuff goes well for you! I had the titan fitness rackable log and it was really solid, I'm pretty sure they ship everywhere!
Just gotta find the right balance, I generally keep my barbell training to 4-5 hours a week which leaves some room to work on stones/sandbags or conditioning. My main measure of progress for a while has been squat variations, I'll max out on a squat movement once a week and so far I've gotten better pretty much every week which lets me know I'm not overdoing it. I also rotate exercises every 1-3 weeks to keep things fresh and avoid plateaus. Overall progress is slow, but I've found slow consistent progress to work much better than trying to push too hard too quick
Thank you! Hahah the real important stuff. I actually went in planning to get a mowhawk for the first time to see if I'd like it, but the girl doing my hair convinced me to get the mullet. She said she was the best at them, and I figured might as well. I really liked it for a while but once it grew out pretty far it was pretty funny haha
Yeah you're right it's real world working strength you build with exercises like these , problem is that gym workouts makes you strong but muscles that fatigue easily when doing hard working tasks because they are not built for that they are built purely for the gym workouts , you take guys that work doing masonry or laying rock that's real strength , making mortar in a wheelbarrow yeah that gives you out quick if you are not used to it it says something about strength and endurance, guys that work like that might not be bulky bodybuilders but using real working exercises that stimulates muscles out of the comfort zone that builds strength .
Oh yeah real strength endurance is a different animal entirely! After reading Steve Justa's book about what you describe here I started adding in longer strength endurance workouts, carrying a stone over and over for 2 hours for example. Much different than pure strength work for sure!
@@thestonecircle Absolutely you have the right idea for sure I used to workout like crazy , I'm a martial arts instructor but I used to have a 2 hour gym workout I did but I started cutting down trees on my property and I decided to build a log cabin I ended up with 250 logs from the trees I cut and I had to carry them uphill on my shoulders and then I debarked them with a draw knife that's when I realized that I was getting the best workout of my life , later I read where an Isshinryu karate master Mile Reeves did some unorthodox training like carrying logs and things like that and so I figured I was on the right track . You have great content on your channel .

This is inspiring. Thanks for breaking down heavy sandbag training so clearly.
Hey glad you liked it!
Lately I’ve been thinking about this type of training ever since I came across your page
I believe this type of strength training develops “ true strength “ that translate to real life task
Now my goal is to strengthen my body in every awkward position which will eventually translate to my compound lift such as the squat and deadlift it’ll become a lot easier
Now I’m working backwards to make sure I strengthen my weak points
Heck yeah I really think sandbags help!!
Finally, got some use out of them old military duffel bags. One of the -100lbs ones can get a little aggressive and toss it around w/ some exercises. Good video.
Hey that's sounds awesome! 100lbs can wreck you quick
This is a genuinely useful and info-packed video, many thanks for making. Good job.
Thank you I'm glad you liked it!
Dad strength! Haven't heard that term before but that's exactly what I'm going for
- great video
Haha yes! Truly an honorable goal 🙂 glad you liked the vid!
Dude. You fucking rule. Straight to the point no gimmick.
Hey thank you glad you liked this vid! :)
Good luck!
Never stop making videos
Hey thank you! I really appreciate the encouragement, I'll do my best to keep going!
Love your passion. It’s keeping me motivated to do more with sandbags. Thanks
Hey awesome that's all I could hope for! Good luck with the sandbag lifting!
Really digging this content👍 informative and insightful... appreciate the work you're putting in, keep it up 💯
Thank you I really appreciate that!
Thank you good luck with it!
I’m glad I found your page. Gonna start training with a sandbag asap
Hey glad to have ya here! Good luck with it sandbags change everything!
Give us an update. How is your progress so far?

Where do you get your sandbags 👈👈👈👈👈👈👌
My favorite is ironmind, but rogue and cerberus are great too!
@@thestonecircle are those websites or physical places i can go
I have a brand new Cerberus bag I’ve never opened. I think today I’ll be getting the requisite parts. I’ve made and used many sandbags over the years from army duffel bags to a Cerberus my nephew stole during Covid. I’ve just never got around to setting up the new one.
The cerberus bags are awesome, they really know their stuff. Good luck with it!!
I'm a chef. These are the same things I experience with a 20 lb bag of onions or a 50 lb bag of potatoes. Thanks for this!
That stuff can't be easy to move around!
I had this idea for a kitchen fitness routine that involves walking, lifting heavy boxes overhead, and moving sacks of flour, sugar, and vegetables around. 😊
@stephendulajr.8124 that sounds so awesome haha, the toughest chef in town 😎
The best video on this topic
Hey thank you I appreciate that!
Lower the sandbag to the ground slow after the lift 😉
Yeah lots of muscle gain to be had that way :D
Love your enthusiasm. Many thanks
Thank you glad you liked it!
Sandbags. I got it.
I really like your videos and they style ou are presenting them.
One small gripe, the sound you recorded in the room sound bad, it was better in previous videos.
Hey glad you liked it! Yeah this is an older video I got a proper mic since 🙂
Sir i love your videos .i am kind of guy who had a weak back my whole life and it is a good exercise .
Please can you make a video on the muscles build in all the three sand bag exercises

This is like if Thomas Ligotti was into lifting sandbags….I love it!
Haha heck yeah thank you! His work seems really interesting I'm gonna have to check it out more closely
Great info! Heavy sandbag work is excellent 👍
I think you would know haha
If anyone else is reading this check out Crawfords channel he's a master of explosive sandbag to shoulder work!

He has some awesome thumbnails so thanks haha, it was his vid that first got me interested in the farnese herculese build
Great video and content overall! I’m 60 and getting back into sandbags.

Спасибо за информацию 🤝💪🔥Счастливый обладатель мешка на 110 кг.Как же это тяжело 🤪Буду сражаться 👍🔥🇷🇺
Thanks ;-)
P.S.
Thank you!!
@@thestonecircle Thank you! Just bought it can't wait to get started this is awesome
Great Video. Heavy sandbag s and kettlebells are my goto
Thank you! That sounds like a great combo, strength plus mobility and strength endurance! Swings have helped me a lot with strength off the lap with a sandbag
Just in time for lunch dude!!
Heck yeah hope you like it!!
9:42 What I learned from this video: The Front Carry is 100 x 1000 = 100,000 times more effective than a barbell deadlift. 😂
Hahah I think that pretty much sums the video up
I loved this video man! Thanks!
Hey thank you!
Damn man, I’m gonna have to invest in some sandbags. They look like they could pair well with javorek barbell complexes and kettlebell complexes.
This could help prep me for picking up this stone that’s in my yard!
Awesome you won't regret it!! Stones and sandbags are so much fun
I've actually never heard of javorek barbell complexes I'll have to look that up!
Bro you have the right face for the job :D - thanks for the video
Haha hey thank you 😁 glad you liked it!
Great content! This rare on youtube.
Hey thank you I appreciate it!
This is awesome, i want to get a sandbag and start training this way! Does anyone recommend a certain brand or specific bags? Or am i overthinking it and any sandbag will do?
For an adjustable sandbag the Ironmind 300 bag is indestructible and pretty cheap. For a fixed weight bag rogue or cerberus make the best ones
Amazing video man!
Thank you!
You convinced me.
Heck yeah good luck!!
Great vid. Glad I discovered
Thank you glad you liked it!!
@billa5509 good luck with it!!
you should try sandbag throw lift it and throw it as far possible it will build more muscle
Hey good to see you! That's a good idea, I might try taking my sandbag outside for that once the snow melts! I do some occasional stone throwing and really enjoy it so far
Hi, thank you very much for your job showing us about carrying weight, I'd like to ask, would you mind to make a video about how to breath while carrying sandbag, like bearhug walk or shouldering etc. etc.

Hey I think in this video it was between 175 and 200. I really like the ironmind bag because you can load it as you go!
do you use bags that are comparable to your body weight? Like a bag that's body weight for your working sets and then work to a bag 50lbs over body weight, something like that?
I've kinda gone full on sandbag to shoulder specialization over these last few months as I'm trying to reach 300 by the end of the year. So I've been pushing the weights a bit. There are some good standards to aim for though, bodyweight carried for 30 seconds seems to be a good goal to aim for!
I have never done any type of weight lifting. However, I am very interested in developing "farmer strength". Is it possible to develop muscles and strength solely using sandbag training, farmer walks and etc?
Hey yes definitely!! If you're interested I go into a lot of detail in this vid 🙂

I'm new to this. Would a 100lb sandbag be a good start for a beginner? Thanks.
Yeah usually 75-100lbs is a good starting place!
Do a rep every time he says "sandbag"!
I know lol you'll be a tank by the end of the vid
Doing this for pushups
@@MonkeyBarsEveryday Arnold chest incoming lol
I also did them when you said "bag" or "bag of sand"
4 minutes in I was laughing
12 minutes in I was grimacing
16 minutes in I was only my breath
20 minutes I was outside my body
i can deadlift 315lb for 1RM.
Good luck!!
@@thestonecircle thanks!
If you're gonna get a sandbag with that top knot style though I recommend the www.ironmind-store.com/Large-Tough-As-Nails-Cordura-Sandbag-24-x-36/productinfo/1390-A/
I've had mine for years, dropped it on thorns and sticks and rocks repeatedly and it's sturdy as ever.
Here's for the sandbags ruclips.net/video/ZlXPac951jY/видео.htmlsi=KADKp1QeVqAqN5SD
For the log it really depends.
How heavy is the bag being used in the video?
I think it was only around 175 at the time of making this one
How do you handle all of the variety while still making sure you progress?
Just gotta find the right balance, I generally keep my barbell training to 4-5 hours a week which leaves some room to work on stones/sandbags or conditioning. My main measure of progress for a while has been squat variations, I'll max out on a squat movement once a week and so far I've gotten better pretty much every week which lets me know I'm not overdoing it. I also rotate exercises every 1-3 weeks to keep things fresh and avoid plateaus. Overall progress is slow, but I've found slow consistent progress to work much better than trying to push too hard too quick
insane
Another great Video. What’s the weight of your sand bags mate
Thank you! It's 300 full so I think it's somewhere around 220-250

She said she was the best at them, and I figured might as well. I really liked it for a while but once it grew out pretty far it was pretty funny haha
What Sandbag do you suggest/use??
Cerberus is the most convenient and has the best velcro system I've seen. The ironmind is really durable too though and is a lot cheaper
What kind of bags do u use?
My favorite is the ironmind tough as nails adjustable 300lb bag, but cerberus and rogue are great too!
@michaeldaugette802 that sounds like such a fun project! I'd love to build a cabin of my own one day. I really think carrying things is so underrated, it's awesome you figured it out with some real hard work. Thank you I appreciate it!
@@thestonecircle I have something that you may or may not know , in Okinawan karate there is something known as Hojo Undo basically it translates as supplementary exercises which uses several different kinds of exercise equipment for conditioning different parts of the body , you can find examples on RUclips .
