I heard this for the first time on Voice of America on shortwave radio with the signal going in and out, heavy static and crosstalk with other radio stations. My sister and I (13 & 15yo) had never heard anyone make the guitar sing like this. The phrasing, tone and the fluidity of Peter's playing along with his top notch band, John Siomos (drums), Bob Mayo (keyboards & guitar) & Stanley Sheldon (bass) kept the song boiling along. Recorded it onto an old Philips spool tape machine and still have the recording with static and all. It is sad and disappointing that Frampton never got the credit and recognition he so richly deserves. My two pennies. O&O!

I have not seen anyone do everything that he does with his hands, feet and mouth, with a guitar on his shoulders, a microphone in front and a pedal combo on the floor, the sensitivity, dexterity and groove with that does everything and so naturally as if it were so simple.

Was thrilled to see Peter Frampton at the Met in Philly last July (2019). Sadly, he's winding down his career as he is dealing with a neurological condition that inhibits his ability to play. His performance was exceptional. What a talent! He played and sang his ass off, and was incredibly humble and funny as well. A true icon and underrated guitarist!

Update: July 2023 - Peter is dealing with his condition better than expected, can still play and sing very well. Just saw his Never Say Never tour in Atlantic City (sellout crowd) and he and his fantastic band absolutely rocked it. He has to play sitting down now, but when he tears into a solo, he sort of lays back in the chair and just lets it rip. Do You Feel had the crowd on it's feet, like a time machine. I wept a little.

I saw him in London at Wembley Arena in 1976 with Gary Wright (Dreamweaver) as support act. When he came on stage and hit the first note on his guitar, he cut his finger and almost had to cancel the show. But they bandaged it up and he played, OMG what a show. Awesome.

There were lot's of great live albums back in the 70's -- Deep Purple's Made In Japan, The Allman Brothers Live at Filmore East, Chicago IV Carnegie Hall, Frampton Comes Alive and maybe even Bob Dylan's Before The Flood (and The Band's The Last Waltz if you want to include a movie about a concert). The single, live albums from Robin Trower and Joe Walsh were also pretty, but Frampton and Chicago's were at the top of the heap, imo.

Still considered by many (including myself) as the best live recording ever produced! From a slightly known solo artist from a fairly well known group, no real solo hits before, and live, Yikes! A+M didn't expect 11 million in sales worldwide (8 million US) and sitting on Billboard at #1 for 10 weeks ( It was on for 22 weeks growing). Along with Rolling Stone magazine making it the number one album of 1976. This was an album that was made for FM, who played entire albums at the time. I still remember sitting in my room, staying up late for my favorite FM shows, besides CBS's "Mystery Theater", and hearing "Frampton Comes Alive" for the first time. Had the black light posters and vanilla incense going. As you can tell, I am still a big fan, and yes I'm a proud boomer!

I saw Peter Frampton and his band do this album live, I saw him in Kansas City. It was wonderful. They had all white drums and all white amps. It was an outdoor concert, hot as hell and humid as hell, but none of that mattered. Peter was really popular then, even though he had been a member of Humble Pie, years before. This is a great song.

I know what you do don't miss seeing this phenomenal guitarist / musician. He's in his 70s now so it may be a last opportunity. I saw him live back in 2011 in Denver and it was definitely THE highlight of my 5 years living in the USA

As I've grown older, I believe this song is about the high a musician receives from the audience, how it is is returned ( do you feel like we do?) And the afterglow from that performance of the night before. I w as at least 16 at this time, so we grooved on this. Great, great musicians and music.

I was 16 in 1976 and when this album came out, it was an instant hit. The guy just came in from out of nowhere and there he was. You weren't allowed not having
a copy of this record if you wanted any friends at your house at all.
