Also, bad reviews spread more easily and quickly than good reviews. I'm pretty sure they made that little extra precaution to put their best employee for this video. And honestly its ok to do so, every company would do this.

Ulta didn't mess around when you said you were coming in to film. They brought you in while the store was closed and put you with the star player on the varsity squad. They came to win! This was not gonna be some casual encounter with just any MUA they had on the schedule that day. (That's the way it seemed in the other videos) This was going to be highly controlled so they had their best foot forward. Very smart.

While the video was executed nicely, its is apparent it is very curated and when you walk in this may not be the experiance you get. From my local Ulta, I would be surprised if the make up look came out half as nice as this.

Same lol but it was a salon person so if you work as a beauty Advisor or in Prestige, we’re still not in the clear lol. I sometimes am so scared bc some people do not know anything about makeup and still work at Ulta ha.
I’ve never had a bad time getting my makeup done at Ulta. I got my prom and homecoming makeup done at my local Ulta a few times and I always looked amazing.
How much do they charge overall?
I’m going to be honest here, I give it an 8/10. I don’t think that she did a good job at matching your foundation/blending it past your neck and the lashes could be better applied and trimmed. In fact, I would’ve used different lashes completely. I feel that the ones that she used close off your beautiful eyes and make them look droopy. Otherwise, the eye makeup would have lifted the eyes nicely!
Every MUA is different though and what matters is the fact that you enjoyed it!
8/10 is pretty decent 👌🏼 :3 I feel like everybody has a chance to improve especially if they’re amateur or mid-level MUA’s :)

I'm curious is she a licensed aesthetician? The way she worked with her hands and applied product screams professional.
Kate Weber if this was a salon employee she will be licensed for makeup which goes over skincare a bit in school, although i wouldn’t know if she’s licensed as an esthetician
Kate Weber most likely ulta has been trying to enforce the makeup application as a salon service so they will either have a cosmetology license or esthetician license
She's most likely an Esthetician with her soothing hand application techniques with the skin care prep.
I worked at Ulta as a skin therapist. Hair dressers there didn't usually prep with skincare first, just a primer and were not as hygienic with the make-up application process.
Estheticians usually are taught mainly skincare, facials, massage techniques, waxing and several more hours of required makeup practicals and hygiene practices in school than hair dressers are.
This one is my favorite so far. The foundation was off by a little but the colors of the eyeshadows really made your eyes pop! Love the eyeliner. 😍
Yesss simple but it works very well with her natural look (foundation's waaay off but that's the only mistake in my opinion)

Onion Face The eyelashes needed a little trim, but they’re not bad.
Don't forget that mixing foundations is usually avoided in retail, the aims are different than with freelance. They want you to buy the product (ideally) and if they used 5 shades of a £30 foundation they would lose the sale.

Honestly if you find a good store like this, or like mine, its a WORLD of difference. People drive miles passing some of our other stores to come to ours, and it always makes me proud to work there.
Love this series. I’m curious to know if she looked at your socials before your appointment. Which, as a MUA is pretty smart to get an idea of what the person likes. Sometimes people don’t know how to explain what they like in makeup. But I wonder if she looked at yours or knew who you were because she nailed your “signature” look I think. These are the colors I would be if I was doing your makeup and being a sub.

Olivia's Sunny day She used the lightest shade available in the IT range. It’s really hard to find a light enough shade when you’re pale-I struggle, too. And it’s my skin!

She did a great job, and she used my favorite eyeshadow palette of life! I would recognize that glorious primavera shade anywhere. 😁 The overall look is stunning, AND she did a fantastic job with your face products, which IMO is the trickiest part to get right on other people. Love this series!

(born and raised in Seattle) I retired from JCPENNEY hair salon in Northgate Mall and I was ethereal when ULTA came to Northgate Mall. ULTA opened their store here in July. Sooooo happy. Walmart, Walgreens, Rite-aid and MARSHALLS and ROSS all have huge selections of products, but for products like L A girl concealers, JOUER, NARS, bareMinerals just to name a few, you had to order online. Walgreens carries Ardell Lashes but ULTA has the entire selection. Just bought my first pair of magnetic lashes at age 73 and I love them. Take care,

I got mine done at a cosmetic counter in the mall once and it looked fabulous.. years later as a bridesmaid ..a makeup artist was hired and she had me lookin' like a clown.. so it's usually hit or miss

I'm a Lancome makeup artist, and I can safely say, our highlighters are some of the best and it makes me sad that they are the unsung heroes of all highlighters.

Wow I really like the eye shade colors on you. This makeup artist really read your eyes good. I like her gentle handling of your face also. Some videos it looks like the artists is pulling to hard on facial tissues. Which is not good at all. She really knew how to correctly handle your skin. And it looks great on you. She did a great job overall. At first I thought the dark brown was not going to look right but it turned out so wonderful looking. Kudos for Ulta being so professional and helping with your videoin such a way.

I have found that almost all my experiences with ulta employees are very friendly and helpful even when I have to go in there with my son. Single mom. One went out of her way to help me find liquid match by applying samples and it was lancome. I really like it. Not to say bad bout other places Ive never been.

I feel the same way! I don't think it's so much that she was using the left hand, but the way she held the brushes, period. I was cringing the whole time. (I am pretty OCD about a lot of things)

Sarah X the comments made me chuckle. I’m a Lefty. The only thing that I thought about the artist was that she needed to brace her hand. Especially for eyeliner. It came out good though. Lefties tend to adapt to the Righty world. We must. My brain is trained (I guess) to see things and translate it into Lefty. I even watch knitting and crochet tutorials, and does not seem odd to me. True. Lifting the eye above the brow is one thing. Or using your pinky as an anchor on the cheek. But a hand on the head is a bit much.

At Ulta only Estheticians do full makeovers (or at least at my store that's how it is). I found this out the hard way when my request for full glam with a smoky eye ended up looking like Mimi from the Drew Carey show 🤦🤦🤦

She’s not an esthetician. She’s just been doing makeup for a while so of course she knows how to prep the skin.
@@VanessaSepu at Ulta only Esthneticians can do full make overs. Make- up artistry is also part of the Esthetics program.
She definitely did the best out of everyone! A few things she should have done to really perfect it: take the foundation down past the jawline onto the neck, trim the lashes, use a better suited foundation for dry skin, make the eyeshadow a little bit more cleaned up. I really love the color palette she went with, your eyes popped so much!

What I've also noticed from makeup videos on youtube is that most ladies in the US enjoy stronger makeup while here in Europe, we enjoy more subtle makeup
she seemed like she took a lot of care with what she was doing. Very mindful, and thoughtful about products and process!
Evertrhing looks great minus the foundation shade. Whenever I have people do my makeup, they always put the wrong foundation shade. People cant process my paleness. Haha.
Best part of pale skin is having all our options at the light end of the color spectrum in every makeup line: ivory, light ivory or porcelain. Amazing how MUAs don't realize matching foundation to a complexion is a vital skill separating a pro from an amateur.

Idk if it’s just how it looks on camera but the eyeshadow looks like it needs better blending .. just my opinion

It absolutely needs better blending but also a lighter touch. Over applied makeup is clownish and scary in the daytime. (Personally, I know of no one with the time in the morning to apply then blend out numerous products.)
msr111 Just the THOUGHT of all those different cosmetics gives me anxiety.... primer, setting stuff, foundation, highlighter, contour, fake lashes, 6 different shadows....
My sloppy ass puts on mascara and tinted lip balm, boom, out the door.
