I don't know what causes Mike's shaky hands, if it's nerves, essential tremor, or something else, but it's inspiring to me to see someone else who deals with the same issue that I have doing so on camera and unafraid to have it spotlighted, even if it goes unnoticed to many others. I just wanted to say thank you, Mike, for giving me peace of mind when I struggle to do many day to day activities due to my shaky hands.
I bring up my idea again: - 5 Minute Mystery Mayhem - Chef vs Normal - Normal knows all the "Mystery Ingredients", chef does not - Both still only get the ingredients every 5 minutes - Normal needs to cook in a way that doesn't necessarily hint at what's coming to the chef - Chef can either try to guess from the Normal's cooking, or just go their own way, whichever they think would work best for themselves
Yeah having the boys (especially Ben) shout their commentary so that the in studio audience can hear is really unpleasant. Obviously it's necessary right now, but I really hope they get some speakers up there so that the mics do the work and we can just listen to more personal, gentler, companionable commentary. I love the friendly vibe way more than this performative one. By the way, Thanks for the advent videos! What a Christmas present!
I agree... the shouting for the larger space is understandable, but is quite annoying. Perhaps invest in some mics and some speakers for upstairs where the audience is? I love this series!!!😊❤❤❤
Also this would be a perfect time to have the audience judge the food for us! Have the Ben/Chef Judgement, then the Studio judgement (off camera poll with tasting when possible), then the comments judge as best we can. Lets get the audience to add a layer!
I've made the mistake of watching this hungry and now I'm DYING to taste these, but especially, i think, Mike's. I do love gochujang, but overall the stack's flavours and presentation just hit different.
I love how chaotic the 5 min mayhem challenges are but this time the boys both did really well and the food looks delicious! I assume this was filmed on the same day as the previous audience videos but the balance was MUCH better where we could hear them enjoy themselves without the boys altering their behavior too much. It was a really enjoyable video and im so excited for a new upload every day 😊
I know Ben being kinder might make for a boring video but for this sad Monday, it is sincerely appreciated ❤ thank you Ben for being kinder to the boys
I think I’d choose Mike as the winner because I didn’t see a Huttlestorm, there was a straightforward vision and the plating looks better. Quote of the Day: “Anything that’s not humiliating is a win.”
This was definitely kept between relatively safe boundaries, but things don't always have to end up in chaos, and the guys gave us two ideas that are both easy to replicate but manage as a decent midweek meal. What more can we ask for? As many others, I am grateful for the upcoming daily videos!
Can you do one of these where under every cloche is just another carb? Cloche 1: Tortilla. Cloche 2: Sliced white bread. Cloche 3: Porridge oats. Cloche 4: A potato.....
This is an amazing format to have the 5 ingredients be everything for a very standard dish, but they won't know until it's too late. Like the mystery box club sandwich episode
I love the competition aspect, always have. Mystery ingredients are fun as well, keeps them on their toes. I feel like I didn't see much of the cooking somehow, even though they were cooking non-stop. Maybe it's because the video was done within 10 minutes with 5 ingredients every 5 minutes? It all went by really fast and I barely even know what it is they made. I think I might prefer longer form content, personally. Would love to try Mike's food though, that looked amazing
They probably had to cut out a lot of the crazy bits because of the backlash they've received for the audience reacting to stuff like that and it seeming like they aren't as authentic as usual.
Look, if I may, the new set needs THIS as the default camera frame (see time stamp). This frame sold me on the new set because it shows the space has actual depth. Facing the sliding doors makes it look like someone’s basement. 1:15
Defo thinking that I need to try making a fusion of these 2 recipes myself some time (minus the time restriction and surprise ingredient elements!) as they both look really good, well done lads. Also, an idea occurs to me for a new twist on your classic versus battles- mid way through, the contenders have to SWAP their partly formed dishes with another entrant.
Personally, I'd have fried/baked off the tortillas in strips, then blended the tofu w/stock & some veggies (like Mike's peppers) to make a soup. Fry off the panchetta, char the corn, and toss both with the cheese & use it as a topping along w/the tortilla strips for the soup.
I'm a bit surprised that neither went for nachos. Sure, I imagine corn tortillas are generally preferable, but flour tortillas can work as nachos, and it's such a versatile base for all sorts of nonsense.
Meanwhile, I had a hot dog for "dinner" at 4PM while making two small trays of cornbread, one with shredded cheese added, the other with a ranch seasoning packet added, so let's hope they're good.
Those both looked absolutely delicious... Usually in challenges I can tell which dish I'd rather eat, but this time I honestly can't, both looked and sounded like they were exactly the kind of food I love. I guess that's partly because the mystery ingredients were ones that actually go pretty well together, but I really liked the different directions Barry & Mike went in.
On the second day of Sortedmas, my true love gave to me: 2 Normals panicking and 1 fast paced video. 1:47 This is the second time Barry chose Sri Lankan spice. Either he’s repeating himself or is hinting at getting Karan Gokani back on the channel.
As I know from experience that a good word from a stranger is still a good word, keep it together mate, you definitely can make it! A new year with new opportunities is just around the corner!

Mike always does such cool ideas and granted i didn't taste it but he definitly should win more with his ideas and executions. His black swan idea on a pass it on WAY back is still something I use as inspiration when I cook beets
I loved this video so much i love the craziness of other episodes but it's also so good to see the boys being good at cooking and learning from there past and stuff. Sometimes it's really fulfilling to just see good solid dishes being made.
Whenever I see one of these videos I try to think what I'd do in the guys place. When the tortillas were revealed my first instinct was " quesadilla de rajas y elote con crema" and I've never been more excited as more mistery ingredients were shown! Everything fit perfectly! Tortilla for de quesadilla, silken tofu in place of the sour cream, corn (self-explanatory), pancetta for a bit of protein and the hard italian cheese as the flavour cheese of the quesadillas. I'm going to try and make this
My idea as soon as I saw the Tortillas was nachos. As I watched the video these were my ideas. 1. Tortillas: cut tortillas and fry into chips. Use time to cut onions, spicy peppers, and prep other common nacho ingredients. 2. Silk Tofu: turn into a creamy sour cream / avocado style sauce. 3. Corn: turn into a charred corn salsa 4. Pancetta: render the fat and create Crispy pancetta bits (mimic the crunch of chicharrones was my thinking) 5. Cheese: assemble nachos and grate cheese (more than one variety) over. This is just the rough ideas I had while watching the video. With the full 25 minutes I would have tried to make them a bit nicer, but overall I think my general idea would have worked as a dish.
Ah really proud of you 5 or 6 guys. You've come a long way. I remember in 2019 telling you guys to check out the coconut tree restaurant...like 3 times or more. It's not a bad place Keep doing your thing. Don't ever change. Ben, Barry, Mike & Jamie. Keep the poor ol' dad jokes rolling too Merry Xmas & a great year head ✌️🎉
Ben! You're supposed to say "the" loser not "a" loser XD tough call. While I liked Baz plating with the pop of green, I still felt like the dish was very brown. Mike surprised me with his dish, I had no clue what he was making until the very end and then I was like "wow that looks something I could tear into" haha great job to both the boys, next time we need more mayhem haha
As someone who really hasn't been into the new audience participation videos, I don't mind this one where you can vaguely hear the gallery cheering the boys on :)
The guys came up with great ideas! Myself, I thought of starting with a steamed egg (chinese way), then the silken tofu came, which is perfect to add to the mix. When the corm arrived, I immediately thought of corn espuma. Followed by pancetta, blend it to a texture of minced meat, to add on top of the steamed egg(s). Last but not least, you could also add the parmesan to the siphon, but another idea would be a "cracker" (grated, toasted in the oven). But it's always different when you're under pressure.
I am so infinitely jealous you guys get to work with your best friends like this and have so much incredible fun with cooking. None of my friends would ever have the time nor the interest. So jealous.
Hubby and I just had a playfight about music and guessing songs, and he frustratedly gave the answer of "Bill clintons Fabulous bathtub polka" and now i really need someone to make that into music

While true that the ingredients chosen were relatively low risk, this was still a pressure test of thinking on the go and adapting what you're currently cooking. I say cracking job to both lads, this was really something to behold and perhaps the format could go on for a while with the ingredients/difficulty curve increasing steadily each time. Perhaps culminating in some sort of final cook off between the three.
Mike and Barry looking like Mario and Luigi

“What spices are in that Baz?”
I’m going to make a wild guess and say: no lavender. 😜
What a throw back

That’s a fantastic idea
Yes, except the normal only knows the first 3
@@jd-cx2dh Or the last two.
I like it but they get the ingredient 1 min before the chief and don't know it. so they get it every 4 min and the chef 5.

I know Ben being kinder might make for a boring video but for this sad Monday, it is sincerely appreciated ❤ thank you Ben for being kinder to the boys
BOTH dishes looked amazing and all things considered the normals were really great at handling the surprise ingredients
I think I’d choose Mike as the winner because I didn’t see a Huttlestorm, there was a straightforward vision and the plating looks better.

Loved the way Mike rolled with every ingredient thrown in the mix.
Great idea. I liked Mike's option. When I saw the tortillas I would have done what Mike did and start with fresh veg and prep something like a fajita.
The Sidekick promo was absolutely genius. 👏

Amazing video but this was the highlight
I want them to dress up and do a episode with the costume on.
This was remarkably calm for a 5 minute mayhem video
They probably had to cut out a lot of the crazy bits because of the backlash they've received for the audience reacting to stuff like that and it seeming like they aren't as authentic as usual.
Pretty sure that's because the normals are doing it this time, so they can't go too hard on them or the video will just end up with 2 plates of slop.
@@StuffMitchSaysKappathey are exactly the same and the "backlash" is a screaming minority of toddlers
