In test #2 you say 11" w/c was satisfactory with 50% appliances running but what would be unacceptable?

Besides a hole in a regulator diaphragm, why would propane leak out of the regulator vent?

why/what is the purpose of bleeding the pressure down to 5 in. w/c. why is 5 better than what the regulator gives when first turned on. pressure is pressure.

Safety!!!!!! Would you like a leak at a high pressure or a lower pressure? Any small leak would be detected more efficiently at a low pressure that at a high pressure.

@william Gates. Actually safety is not why the pressure is dropped to 5 w.c. By bleeding the pressure down to 5 it shows any leaks sooner as without bleeding the high pressure left in the hoses on the tanks would be feeding in causing a delay in the drop of the manometer needle. Leaks can be detected as early as a few seconds. Maybe when you stated "efficiently" that is what you meant.

@@bottmar1 Correct. And to clarify for anyone wondering. If you don't bleed it down and you have a leak, the gauge won't drop because there is still high pressure behind the regulator. Similar to if you still had the tank open.

How do you "drop the pressure down to 5 inches of water column"?
