That lady's casual island wisdom, tho! "You'll need to park your nose to the wind, or you'll lose your doors." 10:30 that is the greatest, most British response I've ever heard in my entire life LMAO. I got tearful when Josh and Ollie became grateful once they landed on that island. It was joyous for me, and I felt the wonder of the nature that the island holds. Didn't think I'd love this channel more until now! I'm in love with Scotland, the scenery, their folktales, their folk songs, their food and their languages, all the beautiful castles and monoliths. I hope I get to experience it one day. 3:57 So the island of the Shetlands that you landed on is called the Mainland because it's the main/biggest island of the archipelago. The settlement in the background is called Lerwick which is the main town of the islands and nearly seven thousand people live there. While Papa Stour got their power in 1990, Lerwick first got a power station in 1953!
The boat ride was easily the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It really paints a clear picture of how Vikings travelled on sea. The sky and the waves, so breathtaking.

Amen to being thankful for what you have. Those of us who live in or around big cities have the privilege of being able to access so much while there are those in remote places like French Polynesia who have to rely on a ship that comes once a week for supplies. Really puts into perspective of just how lucky some of us are. In McMurdo Station, Antarctica, they get one ship a YEAR for food shipments to the base to feed the researchers. This means because they're stuck with whatever they got from that one shipment, they end up recycling food and serving it as leftovers. That also includes serving expired food because well, when you're in a remote place like Antarctica...an expiration date is just a suggestion. And the researchers need a huge number of calories to work out in harsh temperatures. Also, if we count the British Overseas Territories, now that you can travel internationally again, I think an even more remote Airbnb in the UK are the ones on St. Helena, a pretty remote island between South America and South Africa. So remote that the British placed Napoleon Bonaparte there so he wouldn't be able to return again to Europe! That place didn't get an airport until *2016!*
I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, and I just freekin' love Scotland. So this was a TREAT! Haven't made it to the Shetlands yet. But there are amazing shorelines and landscapes in the north and the Orkney islands. Thanks for this!
What a stunning island! I'd love to just hole up there for about six months and write and just enjoy peace and quiet. I love that you guys were invited in for a home cooked meal, so sweet!
There's a 1980s European film that I've been looking for for the past 15 years about a 12 year old girl who's abandoned by her mom. She goes looking for her, meets people and sees incredible and heartbreaking and terrifying things along the way and litterally makes it to the end of the world. Then she looks forward at all the nothing and circles back home. Your journey reminded me of that film. You've captured a magical moment with Josh right there at 7:56, you could really see how much he's grown, how much he loves you Ollie, how much he's been through in the past year and how deeply it all touched him. I cried when I watched it because it's so rare to see a person for who they really are, and it takes one hell of a gift to capture those moments because they're so fleeting. Thank you for that, it was really important to see. And I love that the woman on the fairy called your car "she". It says a lot about people's mentality. Let's go

I’ve been watching your channel for years, you can’t imagine the excitement I felt seeing this! As a Scot, nothing makes me happier than seeing people explore my beautiful little country, especially the lesser travelled parts of the country. I spent the summer travelling the west coast, ferry hopping along the inner and outer Hebrides on tiny little boats, in horrific weather. Isolation and journeys like these are an everyday occurrence for a lot of people along the west coast lol. I hope you guys had the most amazing time, Scottish hospitality and views are second to none, but the weather leaves a lot to be desired! I hope you’re planning to come back, we have so much to offer. I would highly recommend the Isle of Skye and maybe even the Isle of Mull, going over to Iona (where the book of Kells was written in the oldest monastery in Scotland) and Staffa was the highlight of my trip.
As a Faroese person I was so exited for you to go to the Faroe Islands, but as Shetland is fairly close I am happy to see you guys experiencing a little of the harsh and beautiful islands in the atlantic

"I'm an Ewok!" - Ollie is actually the king of comedy.
I laughed so hard when he said that! His child like spirit is my favorite thing about this child. He still allows himself wonder.
Me absolutely knowing the reference...now he just needed to sing "Yub yub!"
Andy literally joining with the team is such a bless! Btw this is intense content jollie, love it so much!
Let's go
Pls share the name of the film if/when you find it
@@aashisheapen8230 I will, I hope I didn't make it up but I'm really not THAT good. I just can't find it no matter which keywords I use it's driving me nuts...
This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen, genuinely making me tear up 🥺
This 👏 is 👏 so 👏 good 👏
Did you film separate episodes for this like a little JOLLY series? Please say yes! 👌
Yes. 7-part series coming up! 🙌
Ahhhhhhhh I can't wait! 🥺
omg yessssssss
@@jolly hoho hell yeah
Yaaassssss
Your friendship, not only both of you but with everyone else is so genuine and so lovely to witness ❤️
The most wholesome channel on youtube.
Oh man, can't tell you how much pride this gives me to see you guys adventuring in my wee country ☺️ I really hope you had a wonderful time whilst there and that Scotland treated you well ❤️
11:21 Best part
Josh: Why are you being so aggressive?
Ollie, trying to open a portal to another dimension: *ehehe*
I love how Ollie's tone was all serious and we didnt hear a hint of laughter to "i patted it with my four hands"
This looks like an epic series. I miss you doing it because of the pandemic so I look forward to all the coming episodes.
Tru tru tru! Super excited
all laughter aside, this is genuinely such a beautiful video oh my gosh. it reminds me of my country’s small villages but the beauty on this island is insane. we also went to our village in the mountains this past summer and set fireworks, it reminded me of that. thank you jolly for taking us along this incredible journey!
That episode needed to be longer. That was breathtaking. I want to go and stay. I do not care if you could die out there the view is worth it.
I can't stop thinking that each and every one of us needs someone like Ollie in life. Pure joy!
For a second I freaked out...all that for one episode??? I love you guys. Can't wait for the rest of the series. Hope Gabi, Lizzie and Jenny got to have their own vacation as well. As a married woman, I think I'd want my vacation just as exciting as the "boys" vacation.
I agree!
i love the fact that every episode manage to make josh say “this is the most… i’ve ever been/see” 😂😂😂😂
The drone shots are National Geographic worthy! Cant wait to see the series!!!
As a Scottish person, it warms my heart to know you got help with your flat tire and even a home cooked meal in the 'lonely' Airbnb
Loved this guys. Andy & Sabina are legends. I have one of their sheep in the freezer. Come back again soon 🙌🏼
You live in an amazing place and it's great that thanks to Andy and Sabina others get a chance to experience it.
Shetland is a bucket list place 😍 Do you know if there is still a ferry to Bergen, Norway from our research online it seems like it's no longer running..
@@MariaOliviaTravel I’m sure you’d love it if you visited. Sadly the ferry no longer stops in Shetland but you can see it as it passes by on its way to the Faroe Islands.
@@rollobangsthedrums bummer, thank you for the answer. We can’t wait to visit your beautiful islands 😁
Had a really tough day today. I was already thinking what’s the point of keep going on anyway. However watching you guys made me realize i want to be there ( i'm not sure when!). That little cottage and serene landscape saved me today.
Thank you.
Lots of love from Bangladesh ❤️.

Praying things look up for you! There's always sunshine after the rain 🌤
We all need to step away from our "every day" life and shake things up. Even if it's just escaping by reading a book or watching a video. Sending you light and love.
Your Scottish tour was one of my favorite series on Jolly
Excellent. Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture was a fitting score for the fireworks scene.
Do you happen to be that Faroese person they called during a snack review a few years back?
Shetland kinda made me think of Faroe Islands as well. Let's hope they visit your territory as well. 😁
@@RuyLopezTheSicilian that would be me🤗
@@yaomichan I can't find the video where they called you lol I forgot which one it was
@@RuyLopezTheSicilian Thank you for mentioning that video! It's fun for them to have mentioned the Faroes. I started watching in Feb 2020, so I haven't seen all the older videos. Yet! The video is from Sep 2019, but it's not the same person. Now I know that they already have received the Jolly sodas, I have actually thought of sending it to them for a snack review.
I also thought they were in the Faroe Islands in this video, looks almost the same
I love this! They're so flexible when it comes to different content it doesn't feel like a awkward shift at all. If anything, this shows range and just how talented they are. I really enjoyed this
I watched this video and I’m not sure why but I got so emotional watching it. How beautiful! Thank you for sharing this adventure💜 so glad there is still untouched land in the world for people to explore and protect.
Props to the one who did the sweeping shots of the landscape. It was AMAZING!
brought a drone too??
Wow, it's really humbling to see landscapes like this, reminding us how small we are amongst God's creation,
yet he provided these for us.
thank you for taking us with your adventure, it's been a bliss.
Honestly, I love the idea of stuffing 5 full grown men into one car, it just reminds me of family road trips where one of us would inevitably start begging to ride of the roof 🤣
Wow, even getting spoilers that you went on a roadtrip could now prepare me for how amazing this looked! Really really looking forward to this series, such great timing too, that 3/4 of those who went on the last epic roadtrip got together for this one. Anyways, see you soon!
"an attitude of gratitude" . this entire video warms my heart
4:00 I've never heard Josh's voice this deep and it's so soothing to hear
i'd be terrified on that ferry. i'd be hugging a pole, crying haha
also loved the video guys well done
Can we just take a moment to appreciate those epic drone shots? This channel puts so much effort into their videos...
Cant wait to see the rest of the series!!!
I love this so much! You guys go on adventures I would only dream of. Thank you for tagging this Texan along!
Beautiful island what an incredible scenery. Lovely people living there- more lovely people like you guys should visit and comfort them with music, fireworks and theatre.
Joel is such a sweetie with his 'we're so blessed' and 'I love you guys' comment🥰
this is what i miss about traveling. visiting remote places, seeing the vast landscape, meeting the residents. Singapore is so so tiny. we feel incredibly trapped these past two years. seeing the drone footage brings me so much peace. last i felt so small was in Iceland with similar vast, isolated landscape.
I like korean englishman but I love Jolly. There's just something really heartfelt with friends just genuinely enjoying each other's company.
OMG I LOVE IT. Traveling to off-the-grid places is my dream and I'm so happy to see you guys do it. This DOES make me Jolly.
Lol, Ibsaid TIMING exactly at the same time as you guys. What you said in the middle made me teary eyed. I've lost my eldest brother to covid19. Now after 2 years I do see that I need to enjoy and appreciate what I have. I still miss him, I don't think that will ever change.
I know that I’m going to love this series already. The Shetlands are such a beautiful place I can only dream about visiting ♥️
I loved this! Could have watched a much longer edit, too, so I’m looking forward to seeing what this series has to offer. Well done, guys. And, by the way, the brotherly love you guys show one another is incredibly heartwarming. Thank you for sharing yourselves with us! Love from Ohio 💜
5:07, "Do I give them back to you afterwards?" lol classic Ollie
As a Scottish person I'm so glad you've finally come north of the border to experience some Scottish hospitality and all the beauty around
I want to cry. That place is insanely beautiful.
I really want to go here now, this was sooo interesting. Jolly understands the kind of travel I want to do, find the most remote knooks and just be happy and explore those. Cute lil getaways
I visited Scotland recently for 21 days after the restrictions were lifted in UK.. It was the best trip.. Scotland has a special place in my heart now!! So glad to see you guys in Scotland and the remotest Airbnb .. people are really amazing there🥰😍
Ollie: "And after what has been a really rough two years for us, and for so many people, it felt like a really great reminder of all we’ve got to be thankful for." 😳🤍
This should have been a 30 minute video. I want more of it. Anyways, this such a great journey. Good job guys 👍
What an epic trek to the middle of the Atlantic...the fireworks just made it all the more special looking!
I don't know Ollie, but he is one of my favorite people. What a fun human!!
I swear i wanna straight up just hand them 1 million dollars just for how good these vids are
You do know Ollie's going to spend that 1 million on the most expensive cookie or kebab right?
@@wizicozypher It's definitely worth it :)
@@wizicozypher cookie and kebab are too normal for Ollie 😂, maybe some ancient spam or insects are right up his alley
This is truly such an incredible piece. You guys have stepped up in every way- cinematography, content, ideation- this feels like a big step forward for the channel and I’m really excited to see how you keep moving forward. Bravo to the whole team.
