Just wanted to stop here to thank you for how much you've helped me learn. Your videos might not be the most informative, but they're so easy to get into, and are really eye-opening. They very quickly give me an idea on what topics I need to look up / know more about, and why. You're a legend! Thank you, and good luck with being a dad!
Sir, I've watched Prof Kuper's videos and I really liked the course. I really thank her for uploading videos to youtube so people like us could learn. Prof Kuper's course tends to be more theoretical side of Distributed systems. Could you please make videos (if possible) on the practical part of Distributed Systems such as Interprocess Communication, Distributed File Systems, Concurrency Control in Distributed Transactions, Distributed Dead Locks, Transaction Recovery; Replication-Introduction, Passive (Primary) Replication, Active Replication, Distributed Mutual Exclusion, Elections, Multicast Communication, RPCs. Could you also please make videos on what are the challenges you faced while designing distributed system. I really loved your way of teaching. Thank you for uploading videos.
Thank you so much for this whole course Chris. This increased my interest by folds. Distributed Systems fascinate me by the power it with-holds. I'm planning to do my Research in Distributed Systems and Computing. I would be really grateful of you if you could recommend me some research projects of some professor so I can work and get some prior experience during my bachelors itself. :)
Glad it was helpful. I'm not super well connected with the academic world these days (I've been working as a stay-at-home dad), but your best bet for connections and internships are the professors of the courses you are taking at university. Talk to them, see what their research areas are, and see if they have something that grabs your interest. Professors always have more ideas and work than they have time to work on themselves, and love hearing from motivated students in their classes.
Here is another recent course by MIT. ruclips.net/channel/UC_7WrbZTCODu1o_kfUMq88gvideos
Indeed! Robert Morris is also an excellent professor (and a nice guy), I recommend that one too. ;-)
Thanks! I seem to be getting a lot of traffic from here! :)
