A convoluted and poorly told narrative between past, present, personal, and outside of the main character's own perspective. Yeah this game is just a chase simulator
Aron 2018 it didn't need puzzles and unless someone saw you you probably shouldn't hide in front of them and you have a microphone for a reason. This game isn't for everyone I know that but I wouldn't just toss it off as something else.
As much as I did enjoy this game I do agree it had a little too much chasing in it. I still find the story rather interesting, and I think the themes it explores are way more warped than the first Outlast. I don't think it is a bad game by any stretch, and I don't think it should just be written off as a "chase simulator", to me that's just a lazy criticism that doesn't into account many other things happening in this game.
Winterman (TH) Yeah, but most of Outlast 1 was inside a building, which made hiding a little more doable in that one. You can still do it in Outlast 2, but most people tend to be impatient and would rather run through the game than hide, but that doesn't apply to everyone obviously.
Marcus Moore That's your opinion. But in my opinion, it has a lot of chase scenes, which is really dumb considering they added stamina system. And I rarely complain about stuff, just in case you didn't know.
I like how the character gets tired and the life don't regenerate, giving more dificulty, but have too much chase, because the enemies can see you too far and even behind walls.
Ivan Alves as a player who has played the game multiple times, I can say that the way to make the game easier is by paying attention to your surroundings
Ivan Alves enemies only see you if you are exposed to their flashlight or if you are too close, they can’t see you behind walls and if you are an average gamer only 20 minutes of 8 hours game is chasing. So there ISN’T too much chasing.
the thing thats most annoying in my opinion is that now in Outlast 2 ur persuers can go through crawl spaces unlike outlast 1 where ur persuers couldn't go through
The fact that your pursuers can go through crawl spaces in Outlast 2 does actually make the game more realistic and it does have a bit more sense than the first game, still prefer it though.
The case scene with the little "grass-monsters" is my favorite. Favorite scene from Outlast 1 is when Miles attempts to fight back Dr. Trager, the only time he does fight back.
Outlast 2 is usually considered as the heart attack simulator not the chase simulator but i can give you some points because you are not totally wrong. Yes there are many chases through out the game and they are pretty much intense as hell aswell. So, in conclusion outlast 2 is the best horrific intense chase simulator until something better comes up.
Kind of like how he's chill while chasing Waylon and wants to (probably) rape him. Also Eddie Gluskin's voice is almost similar to Loutermilch when he talks in a calm tone and how they both say they want to "help" them/him when they're actually trying to kill them. They're also both sexually abusive, although Eddie Gluskin's backstory makes him one of the most sympathetic antagonists since he was sexually abused by his dad and his uncle, but I haven't heard from Loutermilch's backstory, so I'm not 100% sure about him. It kind of gives off a vibe of Eddie Gluskin when you think about it. Kind of gives me odd vibes about each other
Probably the most unnerving part about them to me is that they talk so calmly when they're trying to kill you, cause most people believe psychopaths are running around crazy, yelling and screaming, but you don't really expect some killer to be calm and chill cause it's like: "Why is this guy so calm?!"
I hated the Scalled section of the game man. Can't count my deaths on that one it started to get so frustrating. I loved the school section though. That lickitung priest....
Lucas lol run that long and fast and not get tired lmao. This game is more balanced than outlast 1 so far since you can’t loop your pursuers on a table
this game wasn't bad, I like the chase scenes but after awhile I was so fucking confused on where I waa going half the time that I died A LOT even on normal difficulty because I was so ass backwards on where I was
2:34 what is the name of this soundtrack BTW ITS MY FAVORITE OF ALL listen it with headphones with high volume in limit and just.....whatever its my favorite how was that music let me know
Kyle Robicheau have you ever played this game with headphones. With the lights turned off. At night. Because if you ask me the experience is intensified by 90%. Believe it or not the chase scenes become scary because of how loud the terrifying music is. And yes I did play it that way
Kyle Robicheau outlast 1 had a great balance of stealth, disturbing scenes, memorable characters and chase while outlast 2 have vague directions, uninteresting characters, over use of chase scene and meh stealth
Yeah, I agree with you Outlast 1 is much more terrifying and annoying in terms of chase sequences but in terms of story I will pick Outlast 2, I enjoyed the game more than Outlast 1, it is a longer game compared to Outlast 1.
On the average first playthrough of the game, it takes the player roughly 6-8 hours. Let's say it is 6 hours. This showcases all the chase scenes in the game, totaling to a half hour. This means that about only 8.3% of the game is chase scenes if you beat the game in 6 hours. Calling this. A chase simulator would just be inacurate. I believe that people are calling it a chase simulator because if you constantly have to redo the chases after dying, it will feel like a heavy majority of the game compared to the easier sections where all you do is walk through the environment and hide.
Haven't played the games, but I think the idea of being trapped in a mental asylum and having to escape while evading mentally ill mutated patients is scarier than escaping a town of crazy cultists (which was an open area so not really adds to the tension), but the theme of the second game and the apocalypse is much more depressing.
You know, when you think about it, Outlast 2 was a decent game. The first half of the chases were actually fun. But the second half, I just feel like it's kind of boring
I shat out better things than the disappointment that was Outlast 2. Game was complete shite. Running. Running. Running. Half- assed story. More running. Running. The end. Utter waste of money.
Naruto Uzumaki outlast core gameplay is hide and seek outlast 2 core gameplay is chasing and running which feels repetitive. Why the developers went with this idea
The areas are more open now and i think the chases work well, remember - EVERYONE IN THE TOWN, MINES, AND MOUNTAINS ARE CHASING YOU. You just never seem to feel safe and of course if your watching markiplier it won't be scary but i have played the game in the dark, with headphones, and no one was with me. Outlast 1 is filled with stupid jumpscares that have no build up whatsoever and the chases are not scary anymore when you replay them but in outlast 2 you have to be mindful of your surroundings and use the microphone more often, then it becomes a game of hide in seek with some chases. Outlast 2, in my opinion is better than the first. I think it might take time for everyone to get used to the game but thats fine.
Daddy Krabs Exactly. Funny how all the ignorant people who claim the ending sucked are just mad that the story didnt hold their hand and explain everything to them in simple terms. Perhaps they'd prefer if while the credits were rolling, one of the devs shows up to explain to their dumb asses what just happend.
Ninja Goobie dude cmon, anything said is nearly speculation. after reading all docs recordings the shit is still not clear. on top of that the ending left so many loose ends thats obvious for a dlc setup. damn right it didnt hold your hand, it fucking chopped it off and leaves you behind.
Who said it was supposed to be "clear"? The game doesnt explain EVERYTHING to u, but it gives u enough to draw ur own conclusions. They tell us what happend with Jessica and Loutermiltch, how Temple Gate exists and how most of the stuff that happens in the game can be explained. People seem to forget that we are witnessing events in the game through the eyes of a man who is slowly losing his mind. Ofcourse things arent going to make sense or be impossible to explain. Thats the point of going insane. And no, its not an "obvious dlc setup". There probably will be dlc. But even if the game stayed just how it is now, everything pretty much makes sense. You guys said the same shit about the first game too. "Boohoo I didnt like the ending cuz the main character dies and we dont get to find out what happens". When did people get so sensitive about a main character in a HORROR game dying? It makes sense. I personally would be more dissapointed if he survived every inescapable horror he went up against. Its unrealistic. Stop whining and learn to dissect and come up with ur own answers.
Ninja Goobie very well said. people need spoon fed stories. I was disappointed with this game until I did my insane runs and realized that Blake is going crazy. after piecing everything together myself, I was able to come out with an ending that I am satisfied with.

Aron 2018 it didn't need puzzles and unless someone saw you you probably shouldn't hide in front of them and you have a microphone for a reason. This game isn't for everyone I know that but I wouldn't just toss it off as something else.
Aron 2018 this is 8 hours game and only 30 minutes is running you dumbass, plus you can hide instead of running most times
25:46 By far the scariest chase scene in the game, it’s when you’re running down the hall and you look back to see him actually running.
As much as I did enjoy this game I do agree it had a little too much chasing in it. I don't think he was trying to critique it though, hes just showcasing the numerous chases within
Even though I like chase scenes in horror games, this game has too much of it.
Well, at least you can sneak past enemies for like 80% of Outlast 1
Winterman (TH) Yeah, but most of Outlast 1 was inside a building, which made hiding a little more doable in that one. You can still do it in Outlast 2, but most people tend to be impatient and would rather run through the game than hide, but that doesn't apply to everyone obviously.
