Not really. You're higher; your kinetic energy is still almost non-existant on launch, but you've got much more potential energy, so the same missile shot from SAM and from hovering VTOL would still perform better when shot from VTOL.

I meant to say that in a normal airplane, if you and the enemy are in a position like 1:33, the missile will not turn and miss, whereas in VTOL, since there is no initial velocity, the missile takes longer to accelerate and as a result can produce a turning radius like a SAM shot from the air.
