Fun Fact: Most of the figures reuse the bodies of figures from the "New Adventures of He-man", they even reused a vehicle (the Bolajet), they even kept the original name. I guess that explains the inaccuracies. Nice video still. Here's a suggestion for toyline for this series: Mortal Kombat from Hasbro.
Mattel made the Masters of the Universe figures also known as He-Man and some of these Demolition Man figures are remold or repaint of the later He-Man figures
About the only interesting thing about these figures were that they used the New Adventures of He-Man molds with new heads for Stallone and Snipes and some different paint. So they based this failed line of figures on an already failed line of figures. Mattel was always pretty cheap about the reuse of molds to save some money instead of daring to make something new/different/eye catching.
I love me a checklist and always disappointed when cardbacks don't have them! Marketing needs to know that if it's on the back of a figure I really like and I see other figures, I will buy them. If only for completion
The Tech figure is actually a retool/repaint of a character from the He-Man Galactic Protectors line. I'm betting he's not the only thing from this line remade from an older series.
Hey Junkman, I think you should take into account the 'realism' of the commericals for the marketing or play value. Like, in the ads, the kids are adding a fair amount of other junk for the story they're creating. Stuff that most kids can't set up on their own or stuff that should've been playsets, like a freeze chamber for this movie. Mattel should be embarassed by this trash.
Naaaaaa, they were pretty awful. Reminded me of Terminator figs. Only the skeletal terminator was worth the $. Still got him, stands in for the YVH droid i never got to build in my sw collection!
I think studio executives saw Demolition Man and thought " what about Judge Dread?" Stallone👌, Rob Schneider 👍, Sandra Bullock... er find another brunette with a bob!
Mattel only really had one or two successful action figure lines. The Big Jim line from the 1970's and the phenomenon that was Masters of the Universe. That's it. Throughout the 1990's Mattel tried to capitalize on the success of Kenner and their blockbuster film lines, like Aliens, Terminator, Batman, Jurassic Park, among others, but they picked projects that simply didn't have a appeal to kids. Are you going to play with Flintstones or Last Action Hero, when Batman, Jurassic Park or Power Rangers are on shelves just next to these? I realize your mistake here, but you've done this a lot before on issues not relating to Star Wars. You really need to research heavily on subject matter you don't know, as to not come across as a fool. As for this line: Demolition Man toys were shipped to toy stores and promptly left to warm pegs. They're not bad action figures by any means, its just hard to market a line of figures when its based on a film where only two actors are represented. There was no Sandra Bullock figure, no proper Dennis Leary or Ben Bratt. The sculpts are very on par with the era, showing a more cartoonish facade of Sly and Wesley. The likenesses are very good. The Spartan figure looks alot like Stallone, and the same can be said about Phoenix. The figures may look cheap to you, but they were very durable and could withstand heavy play. The problem with Demolition Man came down to just how generic they were. Nothing stood them out from other lines, and because of a lack of supporting characters, you re left with the same character multiple times in one wave.
@@famousbowl9926 LMAO I said nothing of the sort with my critique. I said that the figures were on par with already released toys of the same era, sturdy construction, adequate sculpts, just 3 or 4 variants each of the same character, made for a very boring toyline. I actually agree with most of what you said here, but they're not junk. There were far worse toylines out there.
Mattel made masters of the universe not G.I. Joe but I agree completely this line is terrible and worthy of the being on this list of worst movie toy lines I like this series keep up the good work junkman
Alexandre Milliard do you disagree that the release date of a figure is a lot easier to get right over play vaule? A 5 for release date shouldn’t be the same as a 5 for play value. Also a 1 on release date would be a lot worse than 1 on looks. As release date is easy to get right. As look isn’t as easy.
That Junkman hey it’s all cool. The main toy lines I can think of Mattel doing in the 80’s (aside from Barbie) are He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe and The Real Ghostbusters.
How do four 3's and a 5 average out to an overall rating of 2? If there's something about the line bad enough to earn a 2, shouldn't that have shown up in the breakdown somewhere?
Sorry Mattel didn't make G.I. Joe Hasbro did try Masters of the Universe
Yes see pin comment
Don't worry about the spelling Junkman. Most of the folks crying about spelling use autocorrect anyway. Thanks for what you do.

Which kinda adds to the cheapness.
Ranking system:
Four "3"s
One "5"
Average: "2" ?
Maths is hard.
I remember Denis Leary's character having that cool car underground, and they plum went and did that to his action figure...😯...unreal...psh!!! 😒
Sorry. GI Joe is HASBRO not MATTEL. I have made this mistake before. I never was into GI JOE. And I can’t ever think of a Hasbro 80s Figure like.
Hey it’s all cool. 😎
Please stop talking and do so research!!!!

I really liked this movie, but I never knew it had an action figure line, so much marketing right, thank you Mr. Junkman for another great video!
Just wanted to say from one toy video youtuber to another good work
Thanks
Nice video, but Mattel didn't make GI Joe. Hasbro did.

I suggest including what are the points of the previous lines so we can anticipate which will be the worst.
I was a fan of film but never saw these figs. I wonder how many 90's films have figs now
It's odd how these bad toy lines have pretty cool vehicles, I wouldn't mind having that demolition man car in my collection.
The demolition man toyline is basically repainted he man toys but with new heads
Still loving this series keep up the great work!
These look like some knock offs that you find at Roses or Big Lots
Good video! Check out the mummy (1999) toy line.
Time to put these action figures....BACK ON ICE!!!!!
The Tech figure is actually a retool/repaint of a character from the He-Man Galactic Protectors line. I'm betting he's not the only thing from this line remade from an older series.
Over half of them were He-Man figures with new heads! m.ruclips.net/video/x7kmKLkiih8/видео.html
Another great video, Junkman! :)
1:46 "Summer blockbuster?"
Demolition Man came out in October.
2:04 "Mattel?" G.I.Joe was produced
by Hasbro.😒

How about the old Mattel "Battlestar Galactica " collection ?
Ah when I was a kid I loved these figures. They were pretty good looking for the time
Naaaaaa, they were pretty awful. Reminded me of Terminator figs. Only the skeletal terminator was worth the $. Still got him, stands in for the YVH droid i never got to build in my sw collection!
You're giving Star Wars 5/5 for the timing? That one was notoriously late in that they weren't ready for Christmas 1977.
no not a 5 it was a sample of what ranking means not my real ranking
Everything about this line always screamed generic to me.
Wow the last one is a reused failed heman relaunched figure with the fins on the legs can’t remember the name of the figure
Thank You Sir
The movie was awesome, the Olds 442 car was the best thing about the toys.
I don’t remember them.
I think studio executives saw Demolition Man and thought " what about Judge Dread?" Stallone👌, Rob Schneider 👍, Sandra Bullock... er find another brunette with a bob!
I think i saw a repaint and or retool of a space adventure heman
Junkman, what the hell outfit is that Battle Hook Friendly wearing lol???? 😳
I was 17 working at taco bell at the time nothing but cups from them
Starwars BK glasses still the best I have a crazy story on that
LOL, Hook
edgar friendly looks a little too friendly..🤔🤔🤔

Gijoe was made by HASBRO
Yes it was
I don't think Demolition Man was a kids movie it's rated R
In the 80s and 90’s most kids saw R rated and parents took them :)

How do you get an overall score of 2 when the lowest score in any of the 5 categories was 3?
Cause 3 on a look isn’t the same as a 3 on a package. One is easier to do and one is harder
Nice try junkman

That Junkman I think you need a did kids want them score. Then you could justify the 2 overall. Maybe have a weighting system on the scores also?
