      Not salty. Never liked the Ouya, but this video in my opinion was one of his most boring ones I've ever watched and it took about 3 minutes before he even brought up what he titled the video after which is a bit of a bad practice and click baity. He should have named the video accordingly and just called it a ramble video and I'd of been happy

    This is what we have been saying since even before Ouya got funded, I don't get what's the target for this thing. The whole concept is just a bag of irony.

    If the console was doomed to failure, why does it now have over 500 games and even a limited edition white 16gb version out for the holidays? I guess ReviewTech got it wrong.

    • @DullemeCk
      @DullemeCk 10 лет назад

      500 games because it was designed with the idea that anyone could develop games for it - 500 doesnt seem that much now, huh?

    • @Dr.SkullScience77
      @Dr.SkullScience77 10 лет назад +3

      DullemeCk Erm yes, yes it does. What other console has 500 games after less than 6 months.

    • @DullemeCk
      @DullemeCk 10 лет назад +7

      SkullScience77 all the real consoles are hard to develop for, and there's an expectation for the games not to be complete shit. Why do 500 games matter if they all suck balls?

    • @Dr.SkullScience77
      @Dr.SkullScience77 10 лет назад +3

      DullemeCk All the 'real' consoles are now based around PC's so they are easy to program for. There is no significant difference as both OUYA and PC are open platforms. Guess what, all programming starts on a PC you idiot!! So the only thing that 'sucks balls' is your child-like argument.

    Playing on tablets? That's your answer?
    There is a reason I don't play video games a lot on my Android device, and it isn't because of processing power. A small touch screen works well for few games.
    The people for whom the Ouya is marketed towards, are not the people who play video games on tablets.

    • @oferwaichman1248
      @oferwaichman1248 10 лет назад

      TheJester I can guess from the names that they are controllers, but it doesn't matter, because the games are designed to work on touch screens.
      I've seen a controller for tablets. It look cute, but it doesn't turn a tablet into a console. The control is still very limited. When I really want to sit down and play video games, I don't do it on tablets.

    • @Vexe
      @Vexe 10 лет назад

      I don't think you listened to him. He said he had a controller connected via bluetooth. Most of the games on the ouya are games you can get on a tablet and attach a controller to via bluetooth.

    • @HumorousLOL
      @HumorousLOL 10 лет назад

      You are a prime example of people who don't pay attention.
      He said you can connect a bluetooth controller to tablets and play them just like an Ouya, which is why the Ouya really has no market.

    • @karlslicher8520
      @karlslicher8520 10 лет назад +13

      rtainc I do try but this guy is always the same. He starts by rambling on about something completely un-connected then 1/2 way through he starts to talk about the title subject. I've never seen a single video that was of the title subject yet though.

    • @karlslicher8520
      @karlslicher8520 10 лет назад +3

      rtainc Lol. It is annoying because even though he is very subjective and bias over some things his discussion of detail sometimes makes it 1/2 worth listening to after the opening ramble. He is trying to market too much in each video. Just some honest feedback for the guy.

    • @karlslicher8520
      @karlslicher8520 10 лет назад +4

      rtainc The quick ads at the start are not too bad. It is the off-subject chit-chat before the title subject that will lose him subscribers imo. You click and then its not anything you wanted to hear about? It makes me click to another vid unless it is the only one about that subject. He could at lest put a chapter point for when he finally gets to the reason for us clicking on the video.

    OUYA only released in June of this year, for those people who were interested in that machine I suspect 500+ games, all free to try, is more than satisfactory for them. It is a hobbyists console, not really for the mainstream, but the user-base seem more than happy so far and if the company now have the resources to produce upgraded limited edition versions then it must not be seen as a failure. If the console was failing that limited edition machine would simply not exist. I usually like ReviewTechUSA but on this one he got it wrong.

    • @HumorousLOL
      @HumorousLOL 10 лет назад +6

      That's only because people are retarded and will buy something just because there's hype behind it. The OUYA is basically a phone hooked up to a TV. If you can't see that, you are just plain stupid.

    • @thelocalhostshow
      @thelocalhostshow 10 лет назад +3

      Humorous LOL My personal feelings on the matter is that there is still a thriving community of actual intelligent people behind it not just people who see it as one thing over another. - Look beyond the fact that its an android base and look where android is going. There is NO doubt in my mind that right now the ouya is a hobbyist console. Give it some time. Even Square Enix bought into it and released a copy of Final Fantasy 3 for ouya which I feel is awesome.
      Yeah it has its issues but find me something that does not or will not and I will find you utopia. Try actively watching it evolve and seeing Mrs. Uhrman take on the challenges awarded to her in light of the rabid success that was kickstarter I have to tell you. So to this end I will tell you stop jacking off your xbox / ps and even your PC... and don't knock it till you try it.
      I have a 360 I tried it... I like it its fancy and has graphics that can beat the band but with the ouya I feel like there is more to it... Like I'm actually part of something and not just another gamer score in an endless festering pool of snot and teens who think they are bad-asses when they cuss at people over the internet. Same shit for the PS3.
      I reserve judgement for the new gen's because they are still too new to really claim a fair shot.
      Aside of that I am a PC gamer and I will always feel that the PC will outmatch any console out there. PC is the be all end all Alpha and Omega of the gaming world.
      Just to be fair.

      Alex K THing is, these dreamers dreamed of things that were respectively bigger and more realized than something like the OUYA. It's comparing apples to oranges essentially. Also, I fail to see how insulting his username helps your point. THe point is, there is no point to the OUYA, when you could use a tablet or smartphone for all the things an OUYA does and more. Because of this, any OUYA community will be congealed with the smartphone and tablet community, so there is no difference. I have no use for it, cuz I have a smartphone. Basically, If you want a truly unique indie console, using a chipset that is already widespread is kinda pointless, you gotta put a little more effort than that.

    The OUYA does have the same specs as some tablets,but it runs from an outlet and has proper air circulation. This means the processor can be clocked higher without worrying about draining battery and without over heating.

    The big difference between a tablet with tegra 3 and the ouya is that the ouya plugs in and has a fan. This means that all 4 cores run and max potential without fear of overheating. Your tablet has all sorts of power saver and processor throttling software build in so it doesn't melt.

    One flaw in logic: The tablets and phones have to be under clocked to keep temps down, and battery life high. The Ouya has a fan, and uses a AC plug, removing those limitations.

  • @GabrielBufardeci
    @GabrielBufardeci 10 лет назад +1

    If you're including the EXTRA gamepad on Ouya, then you should include TWO gamepads for the tablet. There is a noticeable price difference actually. Maybe not for you or me, but maybe for a child attempting to get a console by convincing his mother, this will be a great selling point. It is the price. A low budget tablet is about 80 pucks, combine with a hdmi cable and a moga, thats about 170 dollars. the Ouya is 100.

  • @TheBOO410
    @TheBOO410 10 лет назад

    The difference between the ouya and the tablet you own, is the ouya's ability to fully access the tegra 3 processor. Your tablet and the ouya having the same chipset doesn't make them equal when you put a power source into consideration. Even when plugged in a tablet runs on a battery, and even if you root and overclock the tegra 3 on your tablet it wont have the same output power as the tegra 3 on a bettery-less ouya. This doesn't mean the ouya is a full fledged console, but it definitely takes it out of the tablet range.

  • @shatley123

    It cost way more for any wireless HDMI cable than the OUYA cost, but the OUYA gives you the same functionality, and obviously it can also do much more.

    Ouya still going strong, almost a year and a half after your proclamation of doom. Forget the controller, use a PS3 controller, which many people already have so the extra controller argument is irrelevant.

    You can use a ps3 controller with it! Links through bluetooth, just have to make sure you map the buttons on what ever emulator you're using. Just recently realised the potential of this tiny console and it gets a thumbs up from me!

    I'm sick and tired of seeing people talking about "already used technology" as if that means anything. The wheel has been around a long time but the application and innovation of said wheel is key.
    We took a wooden wheel, put rubber on it, inflated the rubber, replaced the wooden spokes with metal, put treads on it, and through a long process ended with what we have now. At no point did anyone reinvent the wheel.
    Thomas Edison didn't invent the lightbuld, he invented a better lightbulb.

    I wasn't going to get a Ouya, I have enough gaming systems hooked to my TV already but after doing alot of research on a simple XBMC solution for a TV mounted on the wall, Ouya was the clear choice. Emulators are just a bonus.

    If the Ouya got netflix, it basically will build itself to be a high end Roku with games. The biggest selling point I'd say if it magically got Netflix would be that you can plug it in via Ethernet so you get a better stream than wifi, Basically a cheap tv,An Ouya, and a connection to your netflix/Hulu/whatever will be a great thing for the guest room.

    A $99 Ouya for an Android platform that runs games and has a controller is pretty cool... but for me, it's going to be equally about having a device that can also stream Netflix and let me watch RUclips. This would make it perfect for my bedroom, so my wife can watch Netflix, I can watch RUclips, and we can both play games if we want to. Most Android games are single player anyway, so buying another controller isn't so important.

    Wired 360 controller. It's ~30 - 40 bucks online and it covers any console you could ever want to emulate. If you want a truely old school feel, get a USB adapter for an older controller. I do all my emulation with an snes controller and an xbox 360 controller.

    I render at 1080p@60fps uncompressed avi with Vegas Pro 13, then I shrink them at full placebo quality, constant 60fps, into mp4 with Handbrake to upload. It turns a raw 80GB file into a couple hundred megabytes after a few hours with no quality loss.
