As more and more info comes out. Vehicles need flow and the right filtration. Paper media is still the best at filtration. While giving great flow. All these wire backed synthetic media filters are great at the start. But then become too restrictive and they're not catching these 20 micron particles anyways. The parts per million data in the used oil analysis is showing this. So these cheaper champ lab filters are the way to go. I've sent my oil in for analysis to the Motor Oil Geek Lake Speed Jr. Only data can tell you if you're using the right oil, filter and duration of your oil changes. Anything else is just guessing. Expensive oil and filters isn't always the best way to go. Oxidation of the oil is key to a healthy engine. Watching his channel really opened my eyes in regards to oil changes. Thanks John and Pete.
I like Champ cheapos as well. I seek them out. Some of the STP filters at AutoZone are Champ. I have an old car with an idiot light for oil pressure. With the more expensive restrictive filters the light would always come on at initial start up, with the high flowing Champs the light never comes on.
The PF63 is one versatile oil filter! I bought a case of these from Rock Auto for like $33 in 2020/21. I've used them on a GM 4.8/5.3 and a Ford 3.5 Ecoboost and the 5.0 Coyote with good results. I've come to really like that plastic cage that they're using. Seems like it would flow really well.
I am currently running this very same filter on my Buick now as they was out of the AC Delco Gold version, also plan on cutting mine open after the next oilchange just to see the difference between them both
I like that this PF63 still has the outer auxiliary baseplate for easier installation. Seems Champ Labs may be eliminating it. Filter looks fine at 3k miles, as one would expect. I wonder what a flashlight test would have shown on dome seal area. I'd speculate you would have seen the light. lol You got me started on it, so now I'm always curious. Thanks to John (no Fram) for the filter and you Whip for the vid. Have a great day.
Greta review as always! Tell John to go Penzoil ultra platinum. It’s not much more money and a better oil. There’s a lot of oil analysis comparing them out there.
Hi Pete. 🙂 Very good demonstrating; I like how you show us the filters and how they are, very informative. Another great video and sharing 👍. Happy Saturday!
Great Job, Pete, thanks for sharing, John! I'm sure John does a fair amount of city driving so 3K probably isn't too soon. The filter and oil definitely did its job. I'm a big fan of the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum oil it seems to clean the engine out better than the rest. I am a big advocate of 5K and sooner oil changes. Not a good idea to wait until both the oil and filter are exhausted. Oils and filters are relatively cheap, engines are very expensive. That can drained out nice and clean, the oil is taking out all the dirt.
Was skeptical of the plastic innard cage at first. But they seem to last. Like you said cant beat that flow volume.. theyre a nice made clean filter not a bunch of glue everywhere, interesting media blend 3 different fibers . Great video

I don’t think I am. I have a Napa Platinum left. Only bc it’s made in USA. 🇺🇸. I’m sticking with the new version of this. Watch in November for it. Huge improved flow.
The UPF is totally different construction for different purpose but for regular applications the PF with the "plastic" cage should have better flow characteristics. I suspect all the pearl clutching over its construction is unwarranted as I have yet heard of one failing under normal conditions.
I didn't plant any pumpkins. Squash is pretty much done, just getting tomatoes now, I tried beets this year but they don't look to good. LOL Thanks for asking👍
Are you open to accepting more used filters? I’m a heavy diesel mechanic “semi trucks” and I see a wide range of filter brands that you wouldn’t see at the standard auto parts store
Id like to know, when possible, when doing used filter reviews besides miles on filter, how was the person driving. City/highway/idle time etc. that oil is dirty for 3k miles. I bet he idles and/or does city around town driving. Thanks!
For that much carbon on 3k mile,s Its looking like the PCV valve is stuck open or something. There is a engine component causing that. Could also be really weak top rings on the pistons. May want to try a 20wt oil and see how it goes.
$13.99 for a AC Delco PF63 ,way too much at that autoparts store ,i can get at least 2 of them for about $10,00 from my distributor or get the AC Delco Gold version for under $10 00 each, probably better off running the AC Delco gold filters in any 3.6 liter GM soot monster, but they just revised the blue PF63 Delco filters for better oil flow now

Hi John
Thanks and Thanks for the oil filter.👍
Well at least no one tried to hump the oil filter
Best oil filter review channel on the internet.
Thank You😊
Oh oh oh O'reilys ! $15 after taxes ! Yikes ! Thats a $6 filter at wally world ! Love the filter media magnification music🎵🎵🤙
Thanks Scotty👍

See? 3,000 mile change & oil has good coat ability. Good for him for changing oil regularly! 👍 1st comment🤓🇺🇸
yeah I also change my oil every 3k, modern Subarus have a reputation of burning lots of oil but mine doesn't burn a drop at 50k miles!
I agree👍
If you have a crap motor, 3k OCIs are necessary...
Thanks, Pete & John
Looks like a good OEM mid level filter.
You're Welcome Jonathan, Thanks!
Hi whip😊
Hello 😊
Looks like it's made just like a Supertech! Almost exactly the same!!
Champ Made. They are the only company I know that uses PA6 cores outside of Fram.
Supertech oil and filters are actually top notch. For the price, you can beat it.
Thanks! I have always use ACDelco filters on chevys over the years. Never had an issue them.
You're Welcome, Thanks for Sharing👍
If you can obtain Champ, get them

I think they're made at the same manufacturer

I put on the new 2024 pf63 and used PZ platinum. November I change again. Thanks
Thanks, Jim👍
@@WhipCityWrencheranytime Pete!

When is John going to go with the Boss and stick with the Boss?

@@John115Yonkers I like the Boss. But I do enjoy your contribution to this channel. 👍👍
Its Mobil1 5W-30 I filled with Pennzoil.
👍

Surprised it doesn’t have a silicone adbv. Looks pretty much like the 3 bargain filters you just reviewed. 😅
Hows the vegetable garden going ? Must be time for pumpkins.

From what I gathered from others who have commented, the 3.6L is a soot-making machine.
Wife: "what are you doing?" Me: "watching a guy cut open a used oil filter" Wife: "And they are calling JD Vance weird"
LOL🤣🤣
Could be, but you're not Lady Vance ? or showing yourself by urinals with girls with strap ones, or Snap On tools.
JDV is a whole different level of weird!

They got rid of those felt end cap shits. Metal now. ❤
