- I had met up with a local subscriber at a car swap meet and he told me about this antique sled/cart/boat/plane kinda thing, and thought it would make for great video content, well I agree. lets check out this trade and see what we got.
Those larger wheels would make a nice lift kit for this buggy! The pusher blade and ski kit are truly fantastic. I wonder how many other rigs like this are hiding in sheds all across the Northern parts of the continent? I grew up in MN, and recall seeing a few different fan boats and such with skis for ice travel. Sailboat type contraptions, too!
I can not wait to see that operate!!!!!! CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!
You're one sick puppy Mustie. I like it.
Used to live on the Ottawa River. Was a guy with an ice boat. 3 skates and a sail. Must have done at least 60mph.
I had a yellow Clinton. Imported a Sachs 505 three speed manual engine from Germany to bypass the automatic clutch issues. Ran a 70cc Athena reed kit. Hit 55 pretty quick
Excellent video Mustie 1 :).also that so cool on Moped Bike for Go Kart for nice weather to drive wheels with and ski on lake too go see that for sure running too on Lake too especially looking forward videos on too! Excellent midweek show to!
So much more fun than drooling over a rusty Toyota!
Good morning and thank you for the video Sir !!
I’ve never seen one of those but, Wow! Look forward to seeing more of the Speed Mobile! That thing is wild! Especially that fan rig with skies! Watch out for that propeller!
I just turned 50 when i was a teenager me n my friends all had mopeds they got 100 miles to a gallon of gas. We drove those things everywhere. Brings back my child hood memories of yesteryear. Love the videos lots of knowledge
Super cool go kart
One thing I see right off the batt
That center bar that's a family Jewel buster of I never seen one
12:50 A small chunk of rubber hose with a small hole drilled into it's side may have worked.
That’s about the craziest gokart I’ve ever seen.
Looking forwards to this as ever
I especially like the fake tartan upholstery on the seat. That’s so 1950s.
Looks like an old "Lawn Boy 3hp. engine" sitting on that kart. I've fixed plenty of those engines over the years.
crazy UFO footage you got there.
Now that is just cool as hell but you would think the fan should shove it around on the tires also
Use the fan and disconnect the go-kart Wheels that would drive the go-kart and just use the fan as a move around try that that would be neatly love your videos keep them up and watching for a long time
Loving the mid week videos !!
1:04 Hey, c'mon, Darren --- what's with da FLASHLIGHT??? Yer sposta use a LIGHTED MATCH to check if there's gas in da tank! :P
If you ride it with the fan, I would not recommend wearing a long scarf or anything loose 😅
long hair
Cool moped, I've never seen it before.
Im going through your backlog of videos (jumping a bit from year to year), and just finished the Lincoln free welder and the "Homelite generator" from 11 months ago. Guess the Honda generator & "Clinton" Sachs "re-run" is a bit of a spoiler for me (SACHS and Tempo what machines those where (and is). Runs on Anything, even stain paint. :P
Learning a lot about smaler engines (mover, blowers, etc) through all you videos. I got a few of them and they all need care eventually.
Nice trade with winter coming.
I love your videos I have watched them since you had the red bus on the trailer and made it run. never missed one since then
I know of a VW Dune buggy with a big fan but it doesnt have skis now I know what the fan is for.
Darren there’s no way you would have worked on something and left fuel in it AND that it wouldn’t run on the first couple of cranks. That’s against the Mustie1 code of excellence 👍🇺🇸
Matt has a Sno Runner!!
Now that Speed Mobile is SUPER COOL 😎
Just watched the ex650 video , I picked up one last week ,
Good trade for you!
I Would prefer the Honda Gen and Moped deal than the Sledge of doom but each to their own.
Does anyone ask if it runs when they deal with you ??Lol!!!😂😂😂😂😂
I really loved the old garage much more than the new one.
What a deal!
LOL, Future Mustie approves of Past Mustie 😅 Good job!
Enjoyed the video
MUSTIEEEEEEE YOU"VE DONE IT AAAAAAGGGGGAAAAAAAIIINNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!(ALA MAGOO)
Clinton moped.... "I did not have sexual relations with that Honda".
Wonder when we will see this Go Kart again?
Now that’s cool 😎
Lol those were airplane contrails. For fun you can go to Flightaware and see what part of the country / world they are flying to. I bet those were coming or going to Europe.
That is cool
Happy Thanksgiving everyone
That $50 is $500 today!😳😳😎
More like a thousand but who's counting?
👍 👌
I think the other guy got the good end of this trade, but more content for channel easily make up the difference.
Mustie, you’re out of your mind: that’s why we watch.
I HAD ONE OF THOSE IN THE 60S CALLED KID O CAR
This is great. I love these little mid-week videos of you finding things! Thanks Mustie.
Glad you enjoy it!
@@mustie1 are you interested in selling that Diablo project?
I have generator just like the one next to the kart. Only good for power tools.
Awesome trade! I'm looking forward to the videos for this one! BTW, those northeastern 'Meteors' sure look a lot like the jet contrails we have out here in the boonies.
Also, looking at that cart from an engineering standpoint:
1. Could use a better propeller. That prop looks homemade, and will not give near the thrust of a properly designed one.
2. Prop/Engine is mounted very high, raising the center of gravity, and resulting in lateral instability.
3. The prop thrust vector is critical. Too high, and it will put downward force on the front wheels. (note that he may have done this intentionally to provide better steering.) Too low, it will lift the front wheels, resulting in no steering.
4. Same for weight distribution. Looks like a lot of the weight is behind the back wheels.
Bottom line: To hell with all this technical crap. Just get in, punch it, and hope for the best.
We'll all be watching.
Holy crap what a killer trade! That speed mobile is so friggin rad! I can't wait to see that thing in action!
Wow I actually road this exact piece of history. I have contacted my father and he told me that this the one he parted ways with. I hope can’t wait to see you revitalize such a cool antique. I hope you get the joy out of it that my father and I did!!!!
Rode*
My brother and I had identical ones back in 1960 or 1961. The slippery-belt drive system left something to be desired, and the lack of suspension made the thing a rough ride on our long gravel driveway and nearby farm roads. I think our parents got rid of them when we took them out on the paved road (blind hill, 50 mph traffic).
WOW, made my week to see Mustie this early on! Thanks Darren for bringing us along and I look forward to seeing this contraption tearing up the test track! Take care!
I just watched that Clinton moped video the other day from 4 years ago. Funny! You were supposed to order a new petcock. The original was broken (a piece off it). That petcock now is from another bike from the horde. Alrighty! I can't wait too see the sled/cart on snow. Looks like a blast! Take care from Canada eh!
When you said what you were trading I thought WTH is he trading for, That go cart is one of the coolest things I've ever seen, been a small engine mechanic for 40yrs and have worked on a lot of vintage equipment but nothing that cool. Can't wait!!!!!
Loved all the scenery in the 4runner video, and you perfectly catching that sunset over the water in this one. To say nothing of how a mustie1 video dropping 2 days after the last one, makes me feel. Thanks for bringing us along!
Awesome to see the old shop again…feels like home.
You win that trade my man! Just when I couldn’t get more nerded out on another if your builds, you go and do this. This is going to be FUN!!!
"Look at me, being all proactive." I love it. On the occasions I manage that, I'm always surprised too.
I'm intrigued with the little go-kart. When I was in junior high school I coveted go-karts and wanted to build one, but the only engines I could get were off old rotary mowers and I couldn't come up with a simple (i.e., cheap) drive mechanism. And now here is this '59 kart with its vertical-shaft engine -- 13 year old me wants to see how they did it. 74 year old me still wants to drive it!
That guy has a Chrysler snow runner the orange one that was against the wall in the background those are cool I had one and my buddy had like five he bought all six and sold me one. we had so much fun on those things back in the late 80's man that brings back some good memories 👍
Mustie has the flair for odd things that, I never encountered in my entire life. Nice of you for sharing.
holy $hit , when you panned to set up on the floor 😆
"Badges? Who needs stinking Badges?" ... 50's Safety Message ... LOL
you mite have twice as many subs if you just would finish what you started . (Econoline pickup)
The Clinton moped in democratic blue 😂
Love the bar down the center of the gokart, so when you have to brake suddenly you slide forward and hit your 'nads on it!
As a kart restorer myself, that is a fantastic find! A basic simple machine in great shape! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
I wish I can go back to the good old fun days! This is going to be a great video👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That go-cart that thinks it's an iceboat is unbelievable. Can't wait to see you scooting across the frozen pond in a few months...lol
I have a Suzuki 2200 if you want it for a video. Only thing I can say is good luck because I put hours into it and I got it to run with the choke only 🤣🤣
Loving the midweek videos Mustie. Been following for over 3 years now and love every video you put out. No one makes me feel like im there with you like you do. Keep up the excellent work.
It was great to see the old shop where it all began. You’ve come a long way!!!
That go-kart looked like it'll be an absolute blast. Also I really like the look of it. It's even interesting how simple the design is with the wagon wheels and how the frame is mainly two pieces of angle iron.
The cork in the petcock was probably dry. The leak might have stopped on its own if given time to absorb some gasoline and swell up.
"If the wine bottle is stored exclusively upright, the cork could dry out, causing the entry of oxygen into the bottle, which would shorten the life of our wine."
Whenever I mow my lawn I raid my pressure washer and generator with the turkey baster to fill the gas tank
100% Made my Wednesday, With a midweek Mustie video :)
👍👌👏 Maaaan, this looks definitely promising. I'm eagerly looking forward to watch the next video about this interesting vehicle. Maybe even a DIY made streamline cover out of aluminum for the front would be a good idea. Such a cover would also be good/reasonable while driving the sled on ice. 2) I absolutely love mopeds. The Honda generator was a pretty good one too. I would definitely like to own both.
Best regards luck and health.
Your videos are great and super calm enjoyable watch ..
I liv for the
'Hey guys how's it going' 🙂
Nice to see the old garage feels like home 🏡
the old garage was great, a homey atmosphere to the Sunday morning videos
@@motocrossedful Those were the days, weren't they!? I miss the content from Mustie1's home garage but I congratulate Darren for his success and ability to expand to the new shop. It's good he gets to keep his home life private from his channel.
i usually dont talk politics on youtube but it looks like The words "Live Free or Die," seem to be lost and without meaning in 2022.
BTW i looove the midweek surprise videos Mustie keep'em coming
Couldn't be happier with this trade mustie1! A win win all around! And I can't wait to see you do with both of them what I wasn't ever going to get to... get them running mint, and enjoy them! Can't wait for future videos, esp of you on the ice with it! Thanks again!
Looks like a riding leaf blower to me! Get that thing running and clean your yard!
What cool trade..as a kid a bit younger than that era..see nothing dangerous there🤣😁👍🇺🇸 Appreciate you taking us along.
Try those big wheels anyway. The higher in the back look was all the rage back in the ‘80s when I was messin around with go carts. I think it would look kool ✌🏻
Ani,t got no GAS in it a .few minutes later it's got ETHANOL FREE GAS in it 😎👍
Lots of pissing going on today Mustie 😆
too slow for meteor - probably a chem trail being laid ---- wheels look like the one on my 1959 murray mercury wagon.
Ice cart, nice. More like that. The weirder ,the better. SP Isn't dylsexia grnad !
That thing is pretty cool! Nice trade I say. A couple of fun vids incoming and all is well 🙂
leme see.... how many ways is this old go-kart dangerous... and we didn't bat an eye over it back then!
May have to find a smaller ice jockey... (Just sayin) 😉
You traded up to a blender on wheels. Looks interesting and dangerous. Can’t wait.
Those wheels are to me similar to ones used on some of the older tillers like Parmi, Atlas, and Gilson. Don't know if a more modern ball bearing version is available. I would think air tires would work too if their the right size and have rib tread like used on wheel barrows.
2:00 So the protester's sign at the rally read ''Dyslexics Untie''
and now, for something completely different.
Oh My Gosh those soap box derby wheels of yours sure brought back memories for me Mustie! Had a set of those on the back of a homebuilt coaster kart when I was a young boy. It would fly!
Thanks for the extra vid!!
that is a slick little machine. with the prop and skis you get year round fun. kinda looking forward to see how fast this goes on the ice. a buddy made a sail powered icerunner from a popular mechanics article that used old chainsaw bars for skates that was scary fast in a good wind. if you mount one of those mini sail-wings they use for snowboards and waterboards on the front in addition to the engine, i'll bet this would go faster than you really want to.
Honda generator--one pull more than I thought it would take.
