    As one of those wide-footed skaters rolling with a set of heavily modded RB80s/RB Pros (I've used them for everything from my usual urban freeskating to marathons with all sorts of frame, liner, strap, and wheel combos), I love to see that rollerblade is giving a little more attention to that market segment where many other brands don't. They've been my go-to recommendation for anyone looking for a wide, supportive skate - I'd love to try these new lightnings!
    Also, sweet to see new shops coming up, I've got so much hope for the sport we love!

    My first pair of inlines were Rollerblade Lightnings, 30 something years ago. They beat the hell out of my feet, but I had a ton of fun on them. The significance of the price reference in the title does depend on the stick - the top end Bauer sticks cost more than entry level Vapors, ice or roller.

    Philly has no inline skate shops. I was driving around physically looking for inline skates to try them out last Sept, but no one carries it. Dick’s Sporting Goods has like 2 men models, but wasn’t the ones I was looking for. Besides being a great skater, Bill had a nice radio voice. I own the 90's version of these new Lighting skates and I've skated them for some hours now, and they feel great. I think that I may need to add a thicker sole to make it more comfortable but that's the only comment I have on it. They're great looking skates and they feel super stable on downhills, turns, etc. I'd recommend.

    Great video! I've been thinking it's time to replace/upgrade my 6 year old Zetrablades, and I'd settled on the RB Pro X because I have wide feet. Figured I'd also get a 3WD frame so I can convert them into 3x100. But alas, the Pro X line is discontinued and I can't readily find my size 9...then I found these new Lightnings! It's almost a perfect match to (and based on) the RB Pro X, with the same options and price point, so it's a go for me. Primarily trail skating upstate New York, and occasionally running down kids at the local roller rink.

I have noticed how you have such a bigger following than you did when I first found you and rightfully so I want you to know that I am a 39-year-old man who enjoys a city flow, but the only reason why I am a 39 year-old man who strapped on FR skates and decided to skate again is because of you just about everything I know and everything I have learned has been because of your tutorials or just watching you flow I swear to God, I have fallen asleep watching your videos lol hours of watching and planning what I was going to work on the next day. I also learned so much about quality skates and what to expect out of them. In other words I’m probably one of your biggest fans and honestly I didn’t think I was going to be skating again I got hit by a car three years ago in a crosswalk but I’m back on the in lines and I’m back to watching your videos I got a pair of FR ones this year thanks to you. I know what a quality skate is and I have been dreaming about these skates since it was Seba! I appreciate you and everything you do all the time you take to provide quality content I know it’s probably a lot of work but you make it look easy and very fun! I would really appreciate the opportunity to actually talk to you man you gave me my passion back. I got pictures of me nine years old skating. I don't see a gap on the cuff when you flex. That's good. I think you had them a bit loose on the cuff? As a Twister XT owner I thing the lightning look sick. The lack of anti torsion box means you cannot focus on jumps with these but if I put some rocker on these skates I could have fun doing wizardy tricks.

    Actually the Rollerblade Lightning model is not a new name. The first model was for fitness skating from around 2004 and these were my first skates.
    They were fine but had one major issue. Normally the axis of wheels are the lowest points of a frame, but this model had some sort of reinforcement below the wheel's axis, between two wheels. It caused blocking of a wheel and tripping if you encountered a rock, twig or something. All the best from Poland!

      @bigda666 6 месяцев назад +2

      There’s even an older Lightning. It was the name of one of the first models released by Rollerblade in the early 90’s. The iconic Lightning TRS even became one of the first agressive skates, the Tarmac CE

    Hydrogen's are a big selling point... It's very smart to put high end wheels on an affordable skate, there won't be any other stock skate (around this price) that feels as fast and fun!
    Good to hear, these have a wider fit but same sizing as Twisters 😊
    Wish they would stop this holes for ventilation nonsense though, I don't feel any difference no matter how much Emmentaler they make it, just makes the shell weaker 😅
    ...125 are great for powerstops, it just seems scary first but once used to it, the level of control on sliding is astounding (good trusty wheels are a must of course)...

    • @ericbernardi8116
      @ericbernardi8116 6 месяцев назад

      @@vojety.kolecko oh, the SE are not real Hydrogen? 😒 Wheel "cheating" sucks...
      They could stick with Supreme wheels or PS with Spinners then it would be clear to everyone... The RAW are okay, fast and grippy but somewhat unpredictable for slides and even the 88a are less durable then real Undercover or Hydrogen...

    • @CarlFlex
      @CarlFlex 6 месяцев назад

      @@ericbernardi8116 I totally agree!, I have so many unused supreme wheels that are just collecting dust because they are no match to REAL hydrogen wheels made in usa!! I would really prefer Rollerblade to offer a "premium" version of the lightning, just like they once did with the RB DA- featuring real hydrogen wheels, maybe some nice ilq9 bearings.. for advanced customers the mediocre wheel setup makes no sense. of course charge accordingly, but it will be cheaper in the end than paying for the stock supreme /hydrogen se wheels + straight a new set of hydrogen (made in usa)

    $200 usd is incredible pricing if the skate is tight and comfy. I picked up some them skates recently, and while I love them, they are awesome, and are now my preferred ride.... They aren't actually $500 awesome and I struggle to recommend them. They are also super noisy, the plastic flexing noise is unlike any other skate i've worn.

    • @lilchizzy9783
      @lilchizzy9783 6 месяцев назад +1

      Ya they looked reeeally flexy in the video. Inline wharehouse says that the 42 EU skates weigh only 1446g which is crazy lightweight. If you don't mind I was just wondering how power transfer and side to side flex feel for you?

    • @Wolfboy607
      @Wolfboy607 6 месяцев назад

      @@lilchizzy9783 To be clear, i don't have the brand advertised in the video, I am talking about Them Skates, a very unfortunately named brand. My comparisons are to Powerslides and Alkalis. Side to side in the boot feels very secure, if it flexes it's only flexing with my foot. The noise I complained about it from ankle flexing. I have a small wheel plate running 40cm and a normal setup at 70mm. The power and control on 40 are kind of wild. 70 is well balanced, still powerful, easier to maintain speed. Also the 40s have fatter surface contact, very nice going over less even pavement and bricks.
      But you can just get two nice sets of powerslides or the boots in this video, or 4 (!) nice sets of alkalis, if you can tolerate solid boots with only lace ups. So it's very very hard to recommend Them Skates, unless you have cash to throw at the hobby. They have a lot of style points, though. They are a fashion boot for sure. And as mentioned above, the power comes from your wheel set up, you can experiment some with that for much cheaper.

    Hey Bill, I have a question, I am new to rollerblading and I have been doing it on very bad surfaces with incline and well just not well maintained roads or paths, I've been looking at the Rollerblade Lightning 80mm, and the Twister XT, my main thing is can you take off the frame on the lightning ? I'm on the rollerblade website and they don't list the mounting points on either of the boots, they only say the size of the frame that the boots come with, and well I want the lightning but only if i can switch out the frame with the RIVAL 12" FRAME 4X100 (165 & 195mm mounting points) in my mind I want to try 100mm, because maybe it will roll better over the rocks and mini pinecone bombs on the road that turn me into super man for 2 seconds then hit a wall of kryptonite. But ya this is my main big question, I want to stick with rollerblade brand but I cant find my answers on there website.
