You prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream all the new movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend for the last couple of weeks =)
Love this tutorial, just wish I could wrap my head around some of the more involved expressions. I have been using them for years but I always get caught up when its XXXXX.XXX meaning the periods and when to use capitals and such.
I have this copied exactly, yet I'm getting an error on line 1 in remapping expression saying it can't turn the result into a numeric value. It doesn't make sense to me seeing how both inputs (slider value and fps) are already numeric values.
at 16:07 i am having problems with this baseTime+(myIndex*TimeOffset); the error says timeoffset is no longer a term or may be under a different name any help would be appreciated thanks
This is amazing, Id also love to learn how to apply this to a hue change, so each layer added the hue changes equally divisible by 360, basically the same thing as the rotation expression but applied to a hue change. Anyone have any ideas on that?
This way is a lot smarter but I've always disliked working with expressions. I usually just brute force it by baking my mograph cloner as an alembic, using cappuccino to record each clones keyframes, and then transfer the PSR data into AE using Cineware and extract the data. It's very annoying copying and pasting all the attributes to each shape object individually but it works. You're just a little screwed over if you have to make any adjustments since you can't synchronize that data from C4D. Any word on what AE plans on doing with Cineware now that AE is starting to import 3D models? It'd be great if they'd work more on the cross functions between the two.
can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here but this results in a change of playback speed for the other dots instead of offsetting the timing of their start... with my time offset slider control set to 24 (the frame rate) I get the same playback speed, above it goes faster, below it goes slower... any ideas?
I have a pretty basic question about this, not sure what's wrong. In creating the beginning circle and the index, it seems as though my Null Object, which I renamed to MOGRAPH-CTRL affects the dot rotation - so when there's 2 dots, the rotation in the expression comes out as 120, when it should be 180. If I move MOGRAPH-CTRL to the bottom of the comp, it no longer affects the index and the rotation is correct. While this is a solution, I'm curious as to what might be doing this. Why is your null object not counted in the index?

Lovely tutorial, I have started to love 'expressions'. Can somebody help : When I shift between the (RUclips)tutorial and the AE software, using Alt+Tab... is there a way inside After Effects - to select the expression window (to start typing the code from where I left off), without using the mouse ? I hope someone understands what my problem is! (not sure, if my english is good).
I went through these a couple years ago. The best AE tutorials, and they are free! Thanks for putting them on RUclips and FINALLY at 1080p!
We're super excited to be here on RUclips. Thanks for the kind words. :)
A priceless lesson on using expressions, I just had fun applying this tut,,, RESPECT for what you are doing, Thanks

@Amos Marcelo Definitely, have been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself =)
The pinnacle of mograph tutorials. I salute you.
Awesome tutorial. Always feeling inspired after watching your videos!! Contents are priceless!

Super helpful! These tutorials are fantastic!
I really like how you teach expressions using basic English! I'm no coder! Nice one.
Dope Dope Dope Dopester, thanks for this, thanks for all your videos and podcasts!
if you didnt create the null , then you would have subtracted 0 in order to know the num of dots ??
Replacing the layer in your base comp with a different animation made everything click for me in the end. Great rig and tutorial! ^_^
Thanks!
brilliant! many thanks

Same Here
Figured mine out. I mislabeled a property.

Great work
Thank you very much ! I learned so much !
Very cool tips! Brand new to channel and liking!

Great video
Can't we use repeaters in shape layers for that? why using expressions?
thank you bro

Can we use valueAtTime() expression here instead of time remapping?
Totally
valueAtTime() consumes more computer power to compute the number you need. When you work with 20+ layers that really makes a difference
Hi, do you have some adivices on sell this kind of work?

great work
please teach us your intro
That would be a cool tutorial.
it would be amazing
We've been working on this tutorial. It'll be out soon in a free Motion Design course called the Path to MoGraph. Get hyped!
OMG REALLY! DUDE IM SO DOWN
Very Good! Congratulations! And, Where I can find more tutorials about expressions in After Effects?
Here's a good place to start: www.schoolofmotion.com/tutorials/after-effects-expressions-101
Great Job
Thanks!

Hey, best we know this isn't possible. You'll have to double click to get back into the editor. Sorry for the late reply!
If I parent pngs will it behave like this too?
Why do you divide by 24 instead of using `framesToTime`?
Love it
how to create bg ?
Great tutorial suggestion!
good channel
Could u plz teach us the tutorial of ur channel intro !!!!! Stay Cool!!
That's a really good suggestion!
Keep Creating !!!!!!!!! Really Awesome tutorials ♥
