What about bbq? Any suggestions specifically for Covid cautious people, like outside seating or individual tents?

City BBQ is usually my go to. Proud Mary is good as well if you're willing to go that far. I believe they have some outdoor sitting.

@@livininlex thanks! My daughter is heading to ky so the info is helpful. With a national chain as the best bbq I guess I’ll need to search outside of Lex.

I recommend Blue door smoke house and red state bbq

@@bls1177 so, it’s a little hard to know where to go because when you’re in the same state as Owensboro, a notorious BBQ town with two of the best bbq restaurants in the game when it comes to Mutton (Moonlite and Old Hickory), Lexington isn’t exactly in Ky’s BBQ spotlight. And it shouldn’t be. However, I’m a college student moving to Ky too, and Blue Door Smokehouse would be my absolute favorite! Small bbq spot, but rarely ever underperforms. The brisket, pulled pork, and shredded chicken were phenomenal for me. And that’s coming from an Alabama boy who takes his Que very seriously (I am very particular when it comes to this stuff)! Red State BBQ is also a great spot, but for me personally, it couldn’t beat BlueDoor. I highly recommend

Agreed. I’ve eaten Thai all across the country and Archa Nine is my favorite. I can’t wait to visit Lexington again just for that food!

Great job! I agree with most, but I’m a little surprised that Tony’s or Blue Heron didn’t get mentioned. Lex is a great steakhouse town, so that’s why I guess I was shocked. However, I do like the picks here. I’d also recommend Merrick Inn as well! That Pork Tenderloin was hitting different when I came into town. I love the vibe of the place too

    • @staccatoglock

Agreed….Tony’s is best steak in the state! Blue Heron is Def a top 5

You do a really good job of showcasing what I consider to be one of the greatest little cities in America. I was not born here but purposely moved here in 1990 because of geographical location, low crime rate, local progressive political environment and consistent steady economic growth in a diversified economy (horses, bourbon, Toyota in Georgetown, University of Kentucky). We're a lot like a mini Austin, Texas, without all the extremely hot summers and much better scenery.

This list is absolute trash. Bella Notte for Italian? No Joe Bolognas or Guiseppes? No Malone's (yes, I understand OBC kitchen is under BHG with Malone's but Malone's is much more of a staple)? No Local Taco, Wild Eggs, Joella's, Texas De Brazil, Jeff Ruby's, Tony's? For the commenter who said no Japanese, School in downtown Lex, has the best Sushi in the city. For the commenter who asked about BBQ, Bluedoor Smokehouse also in downtown has the best BBQ by far. Carson's and B&T are good choices, otherwise ignore this guy's list.
