Actually there are different types of embryo sac. In some cases, the chalazal megaspore is funtional and in some cases the micropyle megaspore is funtional.

Mam i have a doubt..... Is the degeneration of the three cells which form the tetrad are present at the chalazal end or at the micropylar end..... Bcz in books it is written as the cells present near the chalazal is survived and other three towards the mycropylar end are degenerated.
Mam please clear the number of cells...in the embryosac...as u said...3 micropylar end+ 3 chalazal end+ the bigger one that contain all 6 cells... The bigger one is not the 7th cell...the two polar nuclei in one cell form 7th cell... I refered so many books..after watching your video...but everywhere 7th cell is the centre one containing two polar nuclei... Maam Please clear this doubt..

yupp u r right..................but it can degenerate from either the chalazal side or micropylar side...........it depends upon the species.................from both the sides the megaspores could be functional..............................
