I just have one doubt ma'am, when only one megaspore remains functional, is it one at chalazal end or micropylar end?? I read at many places that chalazal end megaspore is functional and others degenerate. Please help me clarify my doubt? Thanks.
Generally in a linear tetrad chalazel megaspore is functional and develops into embryosec. Rest of the three megaspores, towards micropyle degenerates. In some plants like Belanophora micropylar megaspore becomes functional. In Casuarina and Poa, out of tetrad any one of the megaspore may be functional.

Can anyone tell me what is the fate of unfertilized ovules of the ovary where fertilization takes place. Are there any ovules that do not get fertilized even after fertilization of ovary? And if yes what happen to those unfertilized ovules?
Maam with due respect, I want to point out that the definition for hemitropous and amphitropous ovules are exactly opposite to what you have said here. And this is written in biology books for class 12 as well as botany books for higher studies. Thank you mm. I love your lectures, I just thought that students should know what is right.
