    Why would you not have continued your brick ledge into the corner on that course? Would it not have been stronger to carry the ledge all the way around?
    Would it be faster to place the internal rebar segment first, then lay the ledge rebar toward the inside of it's groove. Then raise the ledge rebar with your left hand and place the stirrup with the right as you work your way down the form. Then place the ledge rebar in it's groove.

      I’m going to show the two methods for doing the corners in a future video. I thought I did show the faster method but I don’t think I recorded it but put a pop-up. Not sure about place in the rebar the way you and some other have suggested. Maybe I’ll try on some other ones to get it recorded. Thanks.

    I can really see your reasoning for doing you house yourself with ICF before getting other peoples homes done the same way. There are so many things that just pop up that need solving that you wouldn't think of before. Its great to see you work your way through it.

    I have watched a lot of ICF builds, and every build still amazes me. Mike, from Dirt Perfect had a valuable tip, and that was to leave all walls leaning in so ever slightly, because its much easier to push the wall out, than to try and pull it inwards when full of concrete.

  • @rickster9993
    @rickster9993 2 месяца назад

    I really enjoy watching you work. On that brick ledge try putting the wall rebar in first. Just lay the brick ledge rebar on the brick ledge. Don't place in the slot. Now place all the reinforcement pieces on then slid the brick ledge rebar into the slot.

    Add a couple extra sleeves through the walls for either future utility runs, or for on-the-fly changes. Remember you'll also want a hole large enough for the air ducts, assuming you'll be running a forced air heating system. But some means of forcing fresh air into the room would be desired even if not for heating purposes. That enclosed below ground room will be cooler in the summer and will try to attract moisture (mold) if not ventilated well enough.

    I’ll actually bow my walls in pre- pour usually 1/2/-3/4 per 30’ wall section. They usually push outwards while pouring , then just turn them out to the string afterwards. Pushing a fresh poured wall out with this bracing systems is easy , pulling it in usually causes problems .

    The even faster way is to lay both rebars in, turn the loop on the bent piece sideways, slide the loop on the bent up piece between the outside foam of the brick ledge and the outer rebar, turn the bent piece back around perpendicular to both rebars, and drop it down over the inner rebar.

    Using your second rebar method for the brick ledge, instead lay both horizonal bars in place so you don't have to go back and pull the hooks over the wall piece. Simply hook the brick ledge bar, then lay it on the wall bar. Then snap the horizonal pieces into position.

    I think it would be faster/ easier to put both long rebars in place then the saddle(?) rebar in. The one with the U and L on other end...
    Pick up by the L part with L up and U down. Rotate from finished position 90° so L is going with the run of bricks.
    Lower down U part to the outside of brick ledger rebar, rotate 90°, raisr back up to hook U over rebar, swing down over inner length of rebar.

    • @BealyGood

    Fun stuff. I am so in awe of how much the average person can do themselves once some engineered outlines are established. The design of the brick ledge was amazing…. I noticed that the sloping of it back towards the ICF wall as it went down. Is that for cost reduction (on concrete), pushing the weight load onto the ICF, or both? Also, the metal hooks caught my attention ….easier to just buy and bend metal for the manufacturer than preforming a fiberglass one or is there another reason? I noticed a wire inside the wall at a common ….all these questions can be addressed in a future video (if that is preferable for you) instead of a reply here cuz I’m watching all of your stuff. You and the crew are doing a great job of putting out quality videos. Like I said, too much fun! 💪

    when you put in those brick edge ties, you should just put in the 2 long green bars, then take your hook end and turn it parallel to the outside bar, slide it down past the outer bar on the outside, turn it 90* and pull it back up, then lay it across the other bar, would be way faster and easier, you should be able to just have a hand full of the tie bars and just drop them in 1 handed as you go, would only take you 1 trip down the wall instead of multiple trips laying things out and then finally putting in place.
    Hard to explain without pictures/video but i hope you understand.

    • @BealyGood
      @BealyGood  2 месяца назад +2

      The final way I ended up doing it was the fastest way possible. But I don’t think I caught it on video. I basically did what you’re talking about. I had to do it with the bars, not in the foam because the way the brick ledge foam is angled towards the wall. It makes it difficult to make it twist in there.

    Frame it for the eight foot doors. My line of thinking is this... You're already going over the top with the house and pool, so why not? Also, if later on when it comes time to trim the house out if you don't like the height, you are encased with concrete so it wouldn't be difficult to attach a false header to close it up or do a decorative glass header light or transom. You can easily build to close up but it would be more of a pain to cut it open later.

    You may have already answered this. But why don't you stagger the seams in the form?

    I am still worried about the joints that are on the theater walls. To me, it just does't seem right to. have these blocks not staggering the joints. Again, I'm new to this ICF construction. I'm only concerned because this could be a fatal flaw that could be in the making. I hope that my concerns are unfounded. Your videos are great.

      I got a lot of questions about that so I finally recorded me talking about it. I believe I will have it in Tuesday’s video. Thanks.

    Looks like another method for installing the loop rebar is to install both log sticks of rebar in. Then take your loop end and stick it in the front at 90 degrees then rotate it 45 degrees and lay it in.

    Did you buy a rebar tying gun ? The one my company just bought listed over $ 4000.00 . The company we bought it from loaned us a used one for a week. Then we bought for 1/2 price. We will use it for one job and probably never use it again.

    Flea bitten Mut-Mut doesn't get to foreman bark any order with a muzzle on. Hire 67' game warden Dennis Weaver's brick Mason bear 'Lintel Ben' for putting in that movie room door opening. (That takes you back) Brick Ledge Reinforcement Assembly The Non-Braindead Way: Assemble the connector to the fiberglass rerod for the brick ledge, seat brick ledge rerod in clip/slot, flip up connector tipped out over the ledge foam, install/seat wall rerod, flip down connector onto wall rerod, tie off both ends of the connector, Tell everyone you have a faster way.

    I'll give you full credit on finally setting me straight about building with ICF. I'd seen others who used what seemed like inferior engineering forming the foam pcs into a coherent solid form (Dirt Nap 'formerly Dirt Perfect' made vids with his various 'neighborhood pals') What you are using makes what he builds wih like using swiss cheese, I see few advantages gained. Now I'm impressed. Being an audiophile of sorts myself, I find it fascinating you burying your theater room. Real subs do wreak their havoc, don't they. Good luck on the rest of the build but I'm not sure you'll even need it considering how smart you've gone about this. Thanx.
