I don't know where you are from but I'd like to help giving you more info and other helpful videos to set up a farm like this. I'm super interested and want to do it myself but I can't.
Edit: Don't go for automated if you want to do it in half an acre then your family of 3-4 is enough, cost-effective and maintenance-free. Plus it'll be a daily physical activity for your kids too, damn phones these days.
