    I had a 4 hour class today and I swear you explained it better in your 15 min video than she could. I just love the way you teach. It is very effective for me. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos. Almost 2 years into my icu career now and I still find your videos as the best learning tool

    Just recently found this channel, I'm an ICU nurse in training from the Netherlands. And seeing that studying has become so much harder as a parent of two young kids, I passed the 40 year mark and al has to be done in between working/family hours. I am so happy with your very concise and complete videos. I helps a lot!

    Thanks for the video. My daughter is presently in ICU utilizing this instrument. Understanding what the numbers mean has been a blessing to advocate for her as I am now here most of the time with her. We had a little scare when the balloon moved 3.5 cm causing some issues, but it was quickly discovered and rectified. I am learning about this and the impella as well as things are of course, subject to change.

    I only don't understand why we inflate the balloon with the helium?

    • @ICUAdvantage
      @ICUAdvantage  2 года назад

      Thank you! I believe the reason we use helium is since its so light, its rapidly moved around, aka, little delay from when "signal" to inflate is started and when the balloon is actually inflated.

    So if A-line is connected, the MAP would be the total average of all Assisted/Unassisted pressures ? And if so, which BP reading would you rely on to titrate medications ? MAP or average of Augmented peak and EDP? Thanks

    Is there a normal range for the Augmentation pressure?

    • @ICUAdvantage
      @ICUAdvantage  9 месяцев назад +1

      No normal per say. Ideally should be above systolic, but it just gives us a value to how much pressure we are creating in the aorta from the balloon inflating.

  • @carollynnepray926
    @carollynnepray926 3 года назад

    I am confused about that augmented peak diastolic...is it really the augmented peak systolic? About the 8:15nish mark.

  • @TheIac25
    @TheIac25 3 года назад

    How the mean/MAP is measured in the IABP? Which systolic and diastolic blood pressures are used?

    • @ICUAdvantage
      @ICUAdvantage  3 года назад

      It's not just a basic calculation, but total area under the waveform
