I used to race a 1969 SS Camaro (street car ran 10.20s with 355 SBC) at the Super Chevy show in Bristol, TN in the early 90s. That white Iroc Camaro that screamed down the track in this video with the blower, was called "Pro-Roc". He used to be at most of the Super Chevy shows. In the mid 90s I built a SBC 1967 Nova with a Kuhl blower on alcohol to run the NMCA fastest street car in America. I only was able to do some testing with it and ran a best of 4.70 in the 1/8th. Life hit, wife was pregnant, had to sell my toys 😢. I'll get back into it in a few years
Great stories, and awesome & fast cars. Keep that thought in mine on getting back. Same happened to me with life and sold my street & strip cars . but at 63 I started back with my only one left my 62 C1 that I bought in 74 cheap, put in a 406-525 hp. street car, then got 65 nova ss 350 to start racing again, 13 sec car. Now bought a barn find 68 camaro named Deja vu old race car, man passed for 10,000 messed with fuel system & ready to race, big tar car with dana 60 & 400. have a 427 motown 14.5-1 sbc for it. Now 67 didn't get thru clean in near fatal Truck crash at 62 busted spine in two places & doc said I broke everything, but doing it again now up at Maple Grove Raceway Pa. 3 miles from my house. Love it my home away from home. So you will love it too, best wishes & hunting for deals they are out there !
A stock 429 CJ or SCJ was simply put NOT a street engine. That engine was built for NASCAR where it would have time to build up some speed and RPM’s so its soda can sized ports and huge valves could finally make some power but on the street that combo did not spell HP stock from the dealership. In fact it would lose in a race against its smaller motor Boss 302 and 351 Cleveland in the same Mustang body. Ford thought it would run with the Hemi engine, so, so wrong. Maybe against the late 50’s early 60’s original 392 Hemi but I wouldn’t put any money on it. The 428 CJ could easily run circles around the 429 which is why it ended up in super duty trucks, giant 9 passenger station wagons or the land yacht Continentals after they made a 460.
You are confusing a 429SCJ with a Boss 429. They have a similar displacement but that's where the similarity ends. The 429 produced lots of low end torque while the Boss 9, like the 426 hemi, was designed for high horsepower at sustained high rpms. The 428 SCJ was a drag strip terror because of its excellent low end torque curve and it's underrated hp rating. The 429cj was a dual purpose drag strip and luxo barge motor that had a torque curve at higher rpms less suited to drag racing than the 428.
@nedaCFilms you are absolutely 💯 correct. In stock trim on factory tires most of these cars would run low to mid 14s. My 69 charger rt se 440 AT 3.23s factory tire is an f70/14. Nada traction.
The Mustang was timed by a Sun Dial in comparison to the rest shown.
Poor guy also spun half the track lol
Including the Shitalay Corvette
That 66 impala sounds damn good!
I have a 1966 Impala and it runs 10:80s with a 406 small block on methanol. I love my car! 01/16/2025
Dude! the 2nd track in the video is Quaker City motorsports park in Salem Ohio this is awesome! My brother and I have raced there.

Be quick or be dead.
None of these are stock.....hahahah...429 was a 13.8 car tops stock
@@chadhaire1711 well anyone that would think any of these seriously “modified” 10-sec cars were stock are complete morons lol

@@nedaCFilms I came to this channel for the comments and yes there are plenty of morons.....fun to watch
@chadhaire1711 A lot of people don't understand the science in drag racing. I.e. I have a 455 and you have a 454 therefore my car is faster.
Yea I don't know what he did wrong with that big block Mustang but it wasn't a 15 sec car by any means.
