What kind of foods make you think of holidays, and what holiday specifically? Wishing you and your loved ones a happy and safe holiday!

Honestly it seems if someone makes it, it's a special occasion or gathering. I suppose khmer new year would be a holiday in April and in the US thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year we would hope somebody will make it too😅. This season I'm gonna try it!

Reminds me of pasteles, which are very popular among Puerto Ricans around Christmastime.

You may be surprised but this sticky rice cake with the exact same ingredients is eaten for special occasions (spring festival, dragon boat festival and winter solstice) all the way up to Guangxi China where I am from. :) There must be a connection there.

Thank you so much and especially for showing how to make the banana leaves more pliable by passing them over the flame. I'm going to try to make tamales this way:-) I have plenty of banana and leaves and no corn husks!

It’s not easy for me to get banana leaves. So I’ll use aluminum foil sheets instead.

Some of my family members do this too to support the banana leaves if it tears. Thank you for watching!

Hi Wayno, I used pork shoulder but pork belly would also be great. Any cut of fatty pork would do well.

Yes I often freeze them but the texture of rice changes slightly if not stored in the freezer well
