For those who wonder why the driver is able to start off in 1st and it starts off like if the bottom gear is a direct, this is due to that the 5 speed box in this bus is what is called a "progressive" box, meaning all of the gears are usable. I know that California school districts were some of the biggest customers of Crown school bus. But I wonder how many other school districts in other states bought these as well. I think someone might have shown a picture of when Greyhound bought a fleet of them for something like commuter jobs.
Washington and Oregon were also big purchasers of Crowns. Not on the same level as California though. They were sparse in the states of Nevada, Utah, and Arizona.
