Dixie, I looked forward to following your PCT adventure since you announced it. I am a 53 y/o guy who is CEO of a company, owns a horse farm with my wife and is very bound by my obligations. My outlets are watching your and others adventures on the AT/PCT and road cycling. On 25 June I had a very bad cycling accident in which I fractured my back and broke my neck which resulted in a ICU stay and surgery. For the first month my family had to carry, bathe and dress me and help me through the pain. Three months later I am well on the mend. All through this process I was able to watch your videos, often on pain filled sleepless nights and feel true vicarious joy in your great adventure. THANK YOU for sharing the adventure, you helped me through this lost summer, your adventure was my summer. Stay true to your passion and God love you for sharing. John A. Spalding
I have just binge watched from day one to this one, and just loving it!!! Maybe my comment will get lost amongst all the other comment, but I really would like to see more; setting up camp for the night; packing your bag; cooking; interaction with other hikers and more shots of what goes on in group camp areas. This is by no way a criticism, it is just what I would personally like to see more of.
Wow! Love that last shot with the drum music. So cool! This was a great vid, with a more intimate feel. Like the inclusion of the other people (and pup) and the honest portrayal of the fact that there are some days that are just 'blah'. That is good to be aware of and to accept that these things happen. 'This too, shall pass". I'm sure the pup was not injured when he was shoved in the back of the truck, but he did seem a bit put out....poor guy. The mouse seemed to say thank you when you let him out....sorry about the toothpaste and brush, Perk! Again, I love the audio of the boots/shoes on the trail. Makes one feel like they are right there. Now when I walk around here and hear the same sound, I can imagine being on the trail someday. It's a good feeling. :-) Thanks so much for these videos! I drop whatever I am doing to watch them.
I just wanted to thank you for putting together this series. Great production quality, great mix between grand views, micro-views of the wildlife, and the “feel” on a through-hike. You mix logistical and personal events well. What I am most grateful for is your honest vulnerability. Lots of videos show hikers plunging into large rivers, precarious ledges, and encountering bears and seem unaffected. You showing new hikers, like myself, that you can start the trail with some trepidation and still accomplish your goals. Now, instead of thinking I am not “brave” enough get out there, you have challenged me to push myself despite my nervousness. You are awesome… keep pushing towards the finish line. We all know you can do it. YOU ROCK!
Fun, fun story! I love the details: tree/nurse stump, logistics difficulties, camp alone, convertible ride ahh!, Dibs, goat, berries on trail, mouse in waste basket, "the blahs," Pepsi/doughnut miss, hot/cold food, and on and on. I am awed, Dixie, that you can photograph and narrate it as well as do it! Thanks to Aaron for his incredible movie-making skills. Sending positive thoughts as you continue on!
Smoke can be so depressing, we had heavy smoke form 2 major fires for 8 weeks in western Montana. It's clear now. Much respect to the fire fighters, true hero's. Be safe Dixie.
As someone who's town had to be evacuated due to wildfire in BC this summer I appreciate what you said at the end of the video! These fires have put our lives on hold, and it's been really nice watching you do the things I'd want to do while our backcountry was closed for nearly 2 months. You bring such a good perspective, and I need help with that sort of positivity.
I don't know at what point of your journey I started watching your channel, but I have been enthralled with your hike and the beautiful scenery. I also sympathized with your feet problems. You are one tough girl. I am a 70 year old guy, and I love hiking and sailing channels. Better than T.V.
The more I watch this series the more I think of *when* I will do the PCT myself rather than *if*. It’s interesting to me that I hadn’t tried hiking much until last summer and since then I have been trying new trails and making it a habit. Now I have a newfound goal to hike 2600 miles! I live in Southern California and love the West Coast, thank you for igniting my interest!
Dixie! Canada is within reach! You are sooooo close, girl! I have enjoyed your PCT videos very much and can't wait for the next one! Keep on trekking! Sending you much love and positive vibes from Phoenix!
I am glad that you are having such a successful hike thus far. For those of us that may never have the chance to do something like a thru hike due to whatever life throws at us, it has been a lot of fun to watch you and your little victories. Most of my "hikes" are called something different, forced marches or ruck marches. Good Juju sent to you from GA. Stay safe, if you can't be safe, be dangerous. Hooah!
I have been putting off watching your series on your hike. I used to love wilderness hiking but an old injury reared it's ugly head some years ago and I now have trouble walking. I am jealous and amazed at your determination. I love your uploads and thank you. If I can no longer do them I can still watch you enjoy or not enjoy parts of your trip. Keep up the awesomeness.
Dixie you are so inspiring! I have been binge-watching your videos. You make me want to just go do it! Thank you for documenting your adventures for all of us!! The knowledge you share with us is priceless!
What an incredible journey. I enjoy your videos so much. Have been watching for Instagram and patreon updates, so excited because I know your close, if not done.
I am so bummed that you had to go through Oregon, our beautiful state, while it looked like this. Such a horrible year for Oregon. :-( The views here are part of why I have never left the state and moved to another.
I used to live near Ashland - there’s a great park there that starts in town and goes on up into the mountains, designed by the same guy who designed Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, and Bidwell Park in Chico, California, which also starts in town and goes right up into the mountains (I lived in all 3 places). There is a good college in Ashland and a great Shakespeare Repertory Theater.
Dixie.... sooooo nice to see your Vid. Nice job. Sorry you're a little down. I can't imagine all the fires. I guess last your was California's turn, this year Oregon. Hope you manage to avoid MOST of the hassle. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Love your commentary and videos. Praying for you!! Ax
I see where Tomas Man finished the other day. There were several people with him. Seems like a great guy. I'm happy he made it. Said he was, "tired". I can believe it.
AWESOME VIDEO & SCENERY AS ALWAYS! VERY LADY LIKE CROSSING THE FALLEN TREE! I LIKE THAT YOU TOOK THE WASTE BASKET OUT SIDE SO YOU HAD ROOM TO RUN OR IT RUN OR FLY! BE SAFE! ENJOYED!
Oh...so you went during last year. Yeah I can see why that would be difficult. The PCT I think went right through the fire, or to the east of it a bit. There's quite a bit of scarring but near Hood River it didn't seem that bad.
Love your weekly episodes keep on trecking. I will be in California next month to hike my first part of the PCT(from Idlewild over the Mt. Sanacinto). I am from Iceland so I have to do it sectionally. Hope you make it all the way to Canada. You can do it girl!
The fires have caused several of our scout hikes to be changed and the air quality in Seattle was worse than any poluted city in the world for a week or more. Couldn't do sports outside. And I know some fire fighters that battled the various fires. Be safe.
It is quite apparent that the PCT does have its' traits on an annual basis. That being said, I wish you a SAFE travel even if it means missing some sections. I just want to see you complete the journey and still be in one piece.
Hey Greg from Spartanburg SC. You inspire me so much, I've been at my job for 31 years 8 months and it's getting to the point where I hate going, only have 7 more years before I retire but don't know if I'll make it till then.I love to hike.Would love to section hike the AT for starters one day. Did you start out section hiking or did you just jump in thru hiking? Be careful and look forward to your videos thanks
Hey Dix, i hope by now you are finishered and planning the CDT. Bummer about the West burnin this year for ya. One thing I've learned watchin vids in general is that I usually speed them up to 1.5 'cause the dialogue is sooo sloow. But not yours, even with your drawl they move along nicely. Again your editor gets bonus points for his hard work too! Thanks. Live forever! Or die trying!
Thanks for video... Thought I saw Perk jogging behind you at first... No, at first I saw puppy dog with you! How'd that feel? Yes, your babies (dogs) have their own lives. : ) Thank you ma'am.
Great video Dixie, so much smoke in the area wow. I am curious to know if you are in Washington now? Or close to the end, because the videos are back dated and I think thru-hikers try to reach Canada by the beginning of October. Your amazing, have a nice hike!
We will have a moment of silence, enjoy all the videos to come, do some of our own hikes, possibly cry a little...and then Dixie will be on the CDT! Months later...repeat!
Jennifer Yambor the CDT is the Continental Divide Trail which is the center of the United States, north to south (visa versa) just like the PCT and AT. It think the southernmost portion of the trail is in New Mexico
Hey Dixie! Just did a section of the PCT at White Pass in Washington. Don't take to many zeros as there is already 1 to 6 inches of snow up there! Keep safe and good luck.
We were taking a break on the AT when John and his dog Blue came up. Blue ran up and stood in front of me, like he wanted me to do something. I was bending down to pick up a stick to throw for him, when John said, Tell him to put it in your hand. I said, In my hand, and Blue immediately, with eager alertness and intenseness, put the stick in my hand! He was one intense, well disciplined, trained dog. I was just hoping John did not say, Attack or Kill. lol. Doughnuts...😁. 1 doughnut taken...😦😞😢. Oh, well; 😐. But, Canada; to you.

Yeah, that ending shot with the music was very 'Game of Thrones'.
There is talk of creating a 2700 mile trail on the coastal paths around Britain. No bears but might be some pretty scary rabbits!
I warned you..........
Run Awwwway!!!
And lots of rain. Lol
"It's only a little rabbit!!"
So, not so many fires!
Simply bring the holy hand grenade and you're good!
That tree stump at the beginning is called a nursery stump. It's the perfect environment for new trees or bushes to grow.

Absolutely gorgeous. The implications of a tree growing from a stump is profound. Love it
It's called a nurse stump or nurse tree. Very cool!
I'm still in awe of your drive and your spirit Dixie. Pulling for you to reach your goal!!

Every time I read 'Thanks for watching' at the end, I think 'Thanks for showing me this gorgeous adventure'.

Short day seems to up your sense of humor. You had me in tears laughing. Roll Tide.

Great to see you are still there, look forward to your updates 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
roddyk05 I love this channel. Do you think she should try Bikepacking that would be coll

Why do cows have bells? Cause their horns don't work.
* Ba-dump-bump! *
In scrub land etc where there is not a clear line of site, it helps their owner to herd them up.
Why did the cow cross the trail? Do get to the udder side. Wacka wacka wacka
groooan! Its along trail for all involved.
Camez Cym 😅
You're allowed to be off your game! It happens and then you move on with a smile, love that you set the mouse loose!

when climbing over large downed trees: take ultra-lightweight pack off, place under tree with poles, climb over safely, re-don the pack.
You have a beautiful spirit Dixie. #Oregon ✊🏼❤️❤️❤️
I've heard of "the crack-of-dawn," but never before "the butt-crack-of-dawn!" I smiled!
Keep it up! I can’t wait to see the end. This is like a suspense movie can’t wait till the next video !
Can’t believe how close you are now! Your videos are so motivating to me!! hope you’re doing well! Oregon looks so nice!

I see where Tomas Man finished the other day. There were several people with him. Seems like a great guy. I'm happy he made it. Said he was, "tired". I can believe it.
Way too bad about the smoke. Oregon is such a pretty place when you can see it.
Ya. That fire was a mess. I live down in the valley Eugene and it felt like the world was ending. Glad you were safe
AWESOME VIDEO & SCENERY AS ALWAYS! VERY LADY LIKE CROSSING THE FALLEN TREE! I LIKE THAT YOU TOOK THE WASTE BASKET OUT SIDE SO YOU HAD ROOM TO RUN OR IT RUN OR FLY!

A nicely cinematic ending.
I've totally camped at fish lake. In fact I hiked out the trail from there to the PCT.
Love your videos!! And can’t wait to see you get to Canada. It’s so inspiring
Thanks again for taking me along on this adventure. Has anyone else thought that Dixi's southern accent has faded just a little bit?
Did that girls and the dog ride in the bed of the truck with the cover on it?! Lol!
That meadow scene, i was waiting for Dixie to start spinning around singing The Sound of music...
Yay Dibs! I was wondering where he went. (This is my third time binging this series lol).
I've had the beef stroganoff, it's actually really good!
Oh...so you went during last year. Yeah I can see why that would be difficult. The PCT I think went right through the fire, or to the east of it a bit. There's quite a bit of scarring but near Hood River it didn't seem that bad.
Wow, stay safe around all those fires!

I can nt believe your pace! amazing video! I love crater lake an amazing and spiritual place.
It will get better. Fires are under control. Be safe.
The blue diamond is a Nordic ski trail marker. Probably not a lot of those in Alabama :-)
The fires have caused several of our scout hikes to be changed and the air quality in Seattle was worse than any poluted city in the world for a week or more. Couldn't do sports outside. And I know some fire fighters that battled the various fires. Be safe.
Thanks for another awesome video Dixie. I was looking forward to hearing how you're liking your new zpacks pack. Maybe in the next video?
It is quite apparent that the PCT does have its' traits on an annual basis. That being said, I wish you a SAFE travel even if it means missing some sections. I just want to see you complete the journey and still be in one piece.
Well done regarding the mouse.
you are doing great! the fires in Washington are even worse. Its just bad timing do your best!
Your doing great - keep on keeping on!
I have mountain bike that part and I have done some PCT go up to Mountain McLounghlin trail
Hey Greg from Spartanburg SC. Your bummed about the fires, and they are bummed about you, Dixie, the fire blazing the PCT.
Hey Dix, i hope by now you are finishered and planning the CDT. Bummer about the West burnin this year for ya. Theres a question Dixie. When you get water from a trail angel do you still filter it?
You're gonna love the goat rocks!!
continued success Dixie!!!
So excited for you! You're getting close! :)
Doing great! Keep on trekking!
Great video Dixie, so much smoke in the area wow. I am curious to know if you are in Washington now? Or close to the end, because the videos are back dated and I think thru-hikers try to reach Canada by the beginning of October. Your amazing, have a nice hike!
Hmm... 5:52 Is elderberry(Sambucus nigra) not slightly poisonous(before thermal processing) in US? Or this is some other plant I didn't recognize?
What do you do for work when off the trail? I recall you mentioning that you had a 9 to 5 cubicle-style job before, but what do you do now?
Another great Vlog!
But what'll we all do after you've reached Canada?
Kelli Rustin - CDT
We will have a moment of silence, enjoy all the videos to come, do some of our own hikes, possibly cry a little...and then Dixie will be on the CDT! Months later...repeat!
Christine Whack where is CDT?
Jennifer Yambor the CDT is the Continental Divide Trail which is the center of the United States, north to south (visa versa) just like the PCT and AT. It think the southernmost portion of the trail is in New Mexico
How are you liking the ZPacks? Trying to decide between HMG and ZPacks...
See episode 27-28 for why she switched from HMG to ZPacks
Whoever is putting thumbs down ratings needs to have the "cojones" to leave a comment as to why.
Ragnar is the coolest hiker ever,,,😂😂😂
I was just hoping John did not say, Attack or Kill. lol.
Doughnuts...😁. 1 doughnut taken...😦😞😢. Oh, well; 😐. But, Canada; to you.
