To explain the large fire truck. It is more similar to an airport fire truck, especially with the water cannon. Airport ones tend to have a greater number of wheels, which are larger. The rest of it is basically artistic license, to appeal to kids. The front windscreen is basically off Space LEGO and who wouldn't want their fire truck to look more futuristic, streamlined etc. Who doesn't want it to have more and bigger wheels! The wheels on both road vehicles say a lot about how they were trying to sell this one. I still love various LEGO wheels to this day and a set can be a hit or miss just based off them. Is it a realistic fire truck? No. Does it take influence from airport fire trucks? Yes. Is it designed to really appeal to kids? Very much so and for that, I love it. I too was always a lover of those sliding garage doors, but never got to own a set with them.
Excellent video Stacey. This set is very cool. I don't know what it is about the sets from the late 80's early 90's that I love so much. Your fire station looks in great condition!
This was my first firestation too; I got it all the way back in 1990. To be honest though, I never felt my vintage collection was complete until i got 6385 a few years back. That for me is the quintessential fire station!
Nice review! I always thought that the windscreen piece they used on the larger vehicle made it look like it was a little futuristic. I like that they used a grey baseplate instead of a green one so it does not look like you have a grass floor. XD
After seeing the Police Station and Hospital you got, I was hoping you'd end up with the 6385 Fire Station. This is pretty similar, tho. Really love the double garage doors.
Another set from my prime! And this time as you put this together I actually had bits and pieces of memories flash in my mind of actually putting this one together - kind of freaky haha. That fire truck, I think, is supposed to resemble one of those on-board "monitor" style nozzles like you might see at airports too, which was an interesting style choice. My cousin had this set back in the day I always loved it

My ex gf got me this set as a christmas gift 3 years ago!! I think it is the best looking fire station Lego has made so far.

I’m afraid to do city buildings :) Harry Potter has already taken over our 9 foot dinning room table
Oh I completely understand! HP LEGO is one of my all time favorite themes! 😍😍
