    Great observation about how a guitar is pictured in the mind vs virtually any other instrument.
    I never thought about that until now.

    The d Angelico excel custom did it have a set of pick ups and what would be to cost to day

    there you have it. you should be able to get a decent handmade archtop for $6,397 in 2018.

    Dave Rawlings ended up buying this very guitar and it was used throughout his latest album 'Poor David's Almanac'. Previously he played a 1935 Epiphone Olympic archtop. You can watch him playing Cumerbland Gap on the D'Angelico in session here: ruclips.net/video/GSPQcPvobOo/видео.html

      That doesn’t look like the same diangelico . The one being played in the studio has a different fret board but regardless it sounds great !

    And once more, a guitar like that goes to a person who can play 3-4 chords and has unlimited funds.....aarrghhh...😡

      I would assume David Rawlings knows a few more chords than that and probably does not have unlimited funds.
