Unlucky? Most players fail to reach the professional level, and the majority of the few who do never win a trophy. Only an infinitesimal number of players get to play in a CL, WC, or Euro final, let alone all three of them. In fact based on that, I'd say he's arguably one of the luckiest guys to ever lace up his boots.

A lot of leader, essien and mikel were captains as well. Malouda at one point was france captain too. That was when my love for chelsea was the strongest.

Credit to Ballack for taking a back seat when he came to Chelsea. He was probably more talented than Lampard and you would expect maybe there to have been a bit of a problem there but he was just a top team player and basically did all the donkey work for Lampard to get forward and take the glory.

And one of the best penalty takers ever; I have never seen him miss one. In the 2000s, he could and would have walked into any first eleven in the world.

I like Ballack a great deal and think he was a great player but to not pick Thomas Muller for Engine seems a bit salty to me. I know he's probably closer to Essien and might not be that fond of Muller considerin he took his jersey for Germany and replaced him. However in their short time sharing the pitch I think it was quite obvious no one compares to Muller when it came to work rate, covering distance, non-stop running and getting into space. Muller blocked so many passing lines and drew opposing defenders out of position with weird runs. Muller in his prime is pretty much what I think of when I think of an engine player thats like having 2 players on the field for how involved they are off the ball.
