  • I took this short video back in January in the home of Donohoe's in Askamore. It's just a short clip but I'm sure you'll appreciate the beauty of the piece and how the dresser is literally squeeze between the walls of the old farmhouse.
Some of you in north Wexford will know Davey Donohoe in the photos as he is an great local historian and has brought out a string of books on the areas history. The dresser is in his home place and is minded and looked moreso by his sister in law Kay and her husband John.
Davey told me the dresser was bought by his parents in Gorey in the 1940s and it has a really identifiable feature which is common in dressers in north Wexford - a middle shelf support.
If you look carefully you can also see it's doors hang differently to most dressers and open inwards. Lovely plates and mugs on it too and I love the Sacred Heart picture hanging on the wall beside it. If you time have a listen to Davey and Kay telling me a bit about it in this piece.
