Beautiful W180 coupe. But as nice as it is, even more impressive is that what the owner really wanted to talk about was his mom. Thanks for the time capsule, Lou.
Great story, great car. Possibly the coolest interior ever made. And yes, those giant York ac compressors were monsters! Wow is all I can say at this car!
WOW super nice and what history from his Mother! We had a 1959 Mercedes when I was a kid. It was a 4 speed manual trans shift on the column. The only bage we had on the grille was a Mercedes 500,000 mile club. Thanks for sharing.
Most beautyful ponton MB i have ever been. Even has airco and orig Becker radio. Driving a MB w108 myself . Will keep it forever. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Awesome Mercedes, a classic beauty inside and out! Fantastic grille and love the pretty badges, just right on it! Lovely blue, lovely style. So cool hearin about his rifle totin mama! I love it, big car n big story n I totally enjoyed both! Way excellent vid. Thank you
Mercedes has done some beautiful cars.... Always liked the bull Mercan as we call them in Sweden! I'd have any of these, over a modern day Mercedes! Awesome video, again, Lou! 👍
Wow! Gotta love this car and especially the story behind the car! Epic! He had one of the world's most awesome moms ever! The burl-wood is beautiful. I went to a car show yesterday and videoed the heck out of the cars. I found out real quick, your method of covering cars is an art that I lack - so I just made it a car peep-show video set to music - LoL. Hopefully I get it uploaded sometime today or tomorrow.
Hi I'mTheDaveman, Cool cars, nice dedication in the front, and THANK YOU you for the "shout out at the end" (Last name is spelled Costabile :-) ) Nice cars in Arkansas, Lou
OOPS! I know how to spell your last name - but for whatever reason, my brain must have farted when I was typing it in on the video. It wouldn't be the 1st time thats happened when giving someone a shout out. Its embarrassing but at least I got the link rights. Sorry about the type-o, Lou. (blush)

This car is so Beautiful!! I guess this would be considered the 'rounded' body type i've read about. Mesa amp company owner and founder Randall Smith did a mod on a little Fender amp circa '68 while working at a music shop in Northern Calif that when an unknown Carlos Santana played thru it, a crowd gathered on the sidwalk outside and he said ''This amp really boogies''. Randall used the name for a short time until Fender got wise and stopped sending him parts. When the store changed ownership, he started a little business rebuilding Mercedes like this one and decided he needed a more serious 'name' while getting a line of credit. That became Mesa Engineering which of course later made Mesa Boogie amps, among the most desired amps made. Its awesome to see a pristine example of what Randall grew to love along with amps and guitars. Thank you for this presentation.
I will definitely stay tuned but this one will be hard to beat. May I also say thanks to Phil for letting us take a look at his collection from the time Mercedes really was the best car in the world.

That Mercedes does not only look luxurious. It is the most luxurious Mercedes of its time. The price was nearly as high as a "300 Grosser" Limousine in 1956. So nearly USD 5.500 to 6000. The coachwork and interior was handmade,. After Production End of the 300 "S" Coupé in 1957. This was the top only the 300 SL Roadster for USD 6.500 was more expensive.
Hi Andy Hanovera, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Stay tuned as there will be a few more Mercedes coming I think you'll enjoy :-) Lou
No = As stated - the car came without A/C. His mother shipped it to him from Europe to the U.S. and had an aftermarket A/C installed = and immediately had it shipped back to her in Europe. The aftermarket compressor from those days sapped lots of horsepower and bogged the engine when A/C was on. So he threw out the old huge aftermarket compressor and put in a modern Japanese one. He did not remove an original 1956 Mercedes A/C compressor as the car came from the factory without A/C. All of this was said in the video.
Well that car interior, to have the car feels like being in a moment of time and a part of a movie, must go to a tailor and get him make clothes that fit the car and the right hat to wear to it, but it would be a problem and that would be that you probably want to sit in the car even when not driving it.
