Those who said the sound sounds fake, stop following the trend of what most haters . The mic is placed at the exterior of the car so watever u r hearing is the exhaust sound , if u say it's fake noise, u aren't a car guy, just some guy following the trend to act as a car guy.
We know who really loves cars bmw has never never produced bad model never in it's history I like new m3/4 generations I wonder why people hate it it has big grill but it has very aggressive looking with it and which angel I would see I like these cars it they have very good and aggressive looking the only - is that it's not amazing as old bmw cars but it's amazing in it's time now

It sounds nice. Nothing special though. The V10 was special. M cars have always sounded special. Exciting. This doesn't sound exciting.
Escpecially with aftermarket exhuast listening to those turbos spool is amazing
M5 E39 V8 sounds better than the M5 F10
That can be debated. But both sound much better than the new V8.

Breathtaking. Blows away the E60 M5 and any of its competitors.
Normally the newer car is better by default.... but damn the v10 E60 engine sounds so much better than the V8 F10.
Given that both cars will do 0-60 in around 4.5 seconds, I'd take the e60!
f10 is no doubt a different type of beast.
Dave Johnson The F10 is much, much, much faster than the E60. It's not even a comparison. Quickest stock F10 M5s have done 0-60 in the 3.6 second range, 0-100 in a decent bit less than 8 seconds. The E60 isn't even in the same league. The F10 traps almost 10 mph higher in the quarter mile. That's an astronomical difference.
Evan McMiller It's certainly faster in the mid range due to bi-turbo... it's impressive admittedly...but then so is a Nissan GTR.
The E60 is flawed, unreliable racer that has a high revving screamer of a V10...the SMG gearbox WILL break down and cost a fortune to replace.... but stick a meisterschaft exhaust on that thing and you have a Formula 1 soundtrack to occumpany your daily life.
The bi-turbo V8 cannot subsitute that no matter how much midrange torque it's boosting out.
If I had the money for a brand new F10... I'd use it to buy an E60 and a reconditioned SMG gearbox.

This car has massive torque, It has the torque of a diesel engine. Im either buying this or Porsche panamera turbo s. see if i can find like 2011 model or something.

Bought an early 2013 model a few weeks ago, it has more power than it can put down up to about 100 kph (63mph) in 3rd gear.
Make sure you get one with navigation professional, sound system professional, head up display and surround view.
If you can afford a late 2012 or newer model you get the newer idrive system, which is a big improvement imo.
There is one more gear to go - It is a 7-speed DSG ;-)

Quicker than the E63AMG from 100mph
I rented that car from Sixt Munich last year...needless to say it's a phenomenal car, I was blown away by the raw power of it and also the amazing handling. I then drove back the e92 M3 right after and it felt a bit slow in comparison. I wish I had the money...

havent u all noticed anything if that v10 was so popular why didnt bmw caried it to the next M5 yes the M5 over time will make more power but those V8 engines that made the E39 so popular are the glory of bmw! more effecient than the V8 and those V8 have a beefy sounds! I own an 2000 M5 and when i turn on that things in the morning i can feel the gurggle of that V8 all the way back in the cabin!! Dont get me wrong the V10 is a great engine but M5 are not F1 cars they are supposed to be these sleek stylish 5 series with a high dose of adrenalines and a big pair of balls!! the E60 is a good car but to me it doesnt reflect what a proper M5 should be like!! And BMW realised that when they introduced the F10 back in 2011, matter of fact if u look closely the F10 ressembles more the E39 than the E60!! in my opinion they should have kept the V8 as a tradition just like the numbers in the back should keep reflecting the displacement of the engine!
+James Goussanou agree! M's not about heavy v10 engines. its about the right power combined with the best technology, grip, confort, sound, versatility, safety...all that stuff making it so balanced and fun to drive :D plus, thats how a car should look like
So smooth. You look and you think 'oh, it is fast, but ok'. I had to repeat and count the seconds to realize how fast. No drama, but blisteringly fast. I realized that after counting 10 seconds, 175 kph was passing by, and than I thought 'Am I right or, didn't it start at 0:53?'
Nothing compares to the E60 and it's precious V10 sound and power.

the good old days will never come back so just be happy for what we get. In 20 years time we will be begging BMW to make a car like this. It's an incredible machine , doesn't matter who made it - BMW , or M.
Car sounds like crap though. Sounds like a nissan...All whinny and high pitched. The v-10 was a better engine...Only reason they are doing all these twin turbo engines is more parts to replace! You now have about 25-30 extra parts that at some point WILL need to be replaced and all that is just money for the car companies.

reason: the v10 was simply way too expensive and complex for bmw to produce. great engine, yes. but turbocharging is the way to go if you want hp and torque numbers on a budget. profitability of this model will be much superior for bmw.
Very true. But also true is the fact that adding all these parts with the turbos will cost the buyer of the car more in the long run. Why they should have just added 10-20k to the price of the car and kept the v-10. Shit happens

+Ev Oz - there are 2 engine options on Outlander. 2.0 petrol - which has no power at all, economy fucking suck balls and it is simply too small. than there's 2.2 diesel, which is stronger, has 2-3 liters per 100km better economy and is faster. now tell me, why the fuck should I bother to buy petrol version.. fucking moronic comment there man, there's no better engine for suv, than diesel. unless you don't give a shit about money and go for Porch or Bentley SUV's..

Bwm and audi are both nearly twice the price the outlander is. And as regarding reliability - mitsubishi is one of the most reliable machines there is man..

It's not the bad camera audio recording quality. It's actually the exhaust sound. If you watch Motorsport's more recent acceleration videos, they will have onboard sound as well as exhaust sound.

5.5 v8 557hp 0-100 4.2->mercedes e63 amg vs 4.4 v8 560hp 0-100 4.2-> as far as the numbers are concerned BMW is the winner...And as far as track racing is again it is...faster through corners and more responsive in any way...and that comes from a man who used to own a c63 amg...the BMW's interior and exterior appeal more to me...and some uneducated comments like 2bach,Enrico Bianchin,yanni and the rest say,make me truly laugh...please at least give those two cars a chance at test driving before commenting...BMW and Mercedes are both great cars...And this accelearation from an almost two tone sedan is something at which BMW used to and will always pioneer...and excel...

i don't know if this is true or not but i heard that the exhaust or engine sound is pumped through the speakers in the car to give it louder sound effect.
@OCMElPolo engine temp was normal, usually turbo engines run a little hotter than n/a, and these bmw turbo engines have a normal operating temp of 100-120c
