- This is Ambient Music recorded with Arturia Pigments only on my laptop computer while on vacation. I didn't take any synth hardware with me - except from a MIDI keyboard. For me the piece has some kind of nostalgic, quite melancholic vibe.
Ording is my latest album on bandcamp: martingoldmann...
After adding a simple wavetable I was struck by this nice tone dial sound.
There is no modulation, just a sine tone with some saturation, delay and reverb.
The noise sweep introduces the bass pad. This is a wavetable preset in Pigments.
LFOs change the wavetable position and some phase distortion.
The string pad is built with the Harmonic Engine in Pigments and uses a bit of modulation for filter and resonance.
The noise sweep is made with the Granular Engine and bounced to an audio sample.
The sample is stretched in Logic Pro which gives some nice digital texture.
The bells are also made with the Granular Engine. The resonator mode adds nice texture in the high end.
Each instrument has its own set of delay and reverb. Mostly Valhalla Delay and Vintageverb.
There is also some Valhalla Shimmer.
Visuals are shades from a tree through the kitchen window of our holiday home. I’m on vacation ;)
Key is F minor.
On vacation and manages to create something I can't even dream of making. Thank you for explaining it so well. Loved it!
Yeah I had a little me time to play around :) Glad you liked it.
So well executed! Almost convinces me to go virtual. But, not quite. 😁 Thanks for sharing!
Thank you :) I think combining both worlds is a good way. :)
Great work! Very suspenseful. Soundtrack piece for sure. Always love the info you display during the video as well. Nice touch!
Thanks a lot, Dylan. The info on the screen has also a nice effect for the channel since it improves the retention rate a bit ;)
Perfect sounds to match the thought provoking visuals :)
Thanks a lot. Those shadows were suddenly there - just had to pick up my phone, set it to 60fps, record and slow it all down to 30fps for half speed.
I love pigments it's practically made my Serum redundant, like mood of your track and happy holidays.
It is really worth spending some time with pigments. Glad you liked the track :)
@@martingoldmannmusic Yes it's definitely a time sink, and to add to it I've just purchased my first piece of hardware the Lyra -8 it's something I've been researching for ages and was in two minds weather to play it safe and opt for a korg Wavesate ,or the Modal cobalt 8 but watched your ambient session on it and that made my mind up and it has such a reputation of being so different so looking forward to the weekend and setting her up.
Oh yes - I can lose myself and a lot of time with all kinds of synths. I think the Lyra is a good choice. Get a reverb ready ;)
So going to have to take a look at this Pigments software sounds really interesting. Like what you have created here.
Thank you, Anthony. (Guess this is your name - read it in other comments. I am Martin, glad to meet you).
Pigments is a really nice synth with an excellent UI. It is so easy to see what is going on.
Hey Martin nice to meet you in name yes Anthony is my name. I downloaded the demo today to take a look and really sounds nice.
...and you can modulate modulation parameters with modulators. It is a lot of fun :)
