Got out of the Army in 1968, started working for Motion in 1969 building the Baldwin-Motion 69 Camaros and Corvettes! Still great memories especially Joel Rosen doing a 2 block burn out on Sunrise Highway in front of the shop....Lots of options available from Holley 3 barrels, Carbs, cams, headers, gears, and dyno tune! Back in the late 60's through early 70's 11 second street cars ruled!

In your time at Motion, do you remember any non-GM cars coming through the shop? I had a customer with a black '71 HEMICUDA with Motion badges saying, Motion Cuda. There were receipts from Motion for miscellaneous things, like Sunoco 260 gas, etc. Just curious. This was in the 90s. My customer was a chiropractor from New York.

    Here in Australia (south Australia)
A supermodified (precursor to sprintcars) owner , Kevin Fischer, got his hands on a genuine 427 L88 engine, put it in his machine, and nothing could touch it!
Look up Bill Wigzell and "suddenly".

oh yeah, prolly needs that other accelerator pump cam lobe, then sand that one side slightly flatter where the lobe is, i forgot witch one it is, also may should try a part throttle jet install in the block that leads into the metering plate , if that is a holley double pumper of course. i am not thinking qjet right now for some reason, i just saved an entire article out of qjet tuning from the book itself. awesome stuff that is. got mind block on it right now, except that qjets are a mass air controlled secondary, not a vacuum but rather the lack of a vacuum. interesting it is. oh yeah nick awesome car that thing really scoots, it dusts that road off with a whirlwind. i am sure the owner is getting a huge smile watching you tinker with it :o)

I have been waiting for the road test on The Yenko Camaro, and it didn't disappoint, an awesome tribute car, that has plenty of power, and will be a blast to drive. Tony has a winner for sure. Nick I'm glad to see that you replaced the 3 bbl carb to cure the stumble when you hit the throttle. I had a 3bbl Holley on the 500 back in the day, and it didn't run that well, so I went back to the 3310, and it ran much better. I still have the 3bbl sitting on a shelf in my garage, just a decoration now. A great video, that I enjoyed very much, especially all of the different camera angles during the road test. 15 years ago I sold my 1971 camaro I built in 1986-1992 and put $150,000 into it with a dyno tested super charged 572 that made over 1600 horse power and a dougnash 5 speed with a mc gleod triple dish clutch with a hydraulic throw out bearing, and a Dana 60 rear end with 456 gears!!!!! This thing launched so hard I would put a $100 bill on the dash and if you could grab it when I was in any gear you could have it,, but nobody ever could!!!!,, I loved that car and I only drove it on the street in Lancaster pa, and I sold it because I was in a bad accident and needed money to pay medical bills and it was red and white and there's a you tube video of the guy who bought it 15 years ago!!! A red and white 1971 camaro 572 in a big garage and some young guy and girl were filming the guy driving off in my camaro!!!! I could kick myself to this day!!!!

those Holley 3BBL were notoriously hard to get running right. I don't know anyone that ever had them getting them to run right, other than Joel Rosen on those Motion Performance 454 Phase III cars. also, those heads look like factory GM L88/L89 heads. I have read that a few of the real Yenko's left the shop with L88 427's and not the L72 427 and the last 67 Yenko that made it out with a one-of-a-kind conversion that had L36 427 and a special air cleaner. it also was dark blue with red interior. so even the Yenko's had some odd ball stuff back then. I also love the old Cal Customs style valve cleaners.

That stumble in the carburetor reminded me of my first car. The engine was a 352 T-bird engine with a model 4100 Autolite 4 barrel carburetor. It used venturi vacuum from the primary side to open the secondaries. When I started driving it, the engine would almost stall when you stomped on it. It took a while to figure it out but what was happening was that the secondaries were opening too soon. The linkage on the vacuum pod was set up where the secondaries weren't opening all the way either. Once I corrected that I nearly lost it the first time it worked correctly. Also if you stepped on it where it didn't burn rubber you could hear the secondaries kick in at about 30 mph. It was one of the 2 engines I've owned that truly scared me. The other was a 350 Olds Rocket.

Test driving is my most and least favorite part about owning my hot rod/resto shop. It’s nerve wracking being the first person to drive the vehicle after countless dollars have been spent, and you have other traffic around that may or may not be paying attention. Obviously, it’s fun and cool driving these cars. The best drive for me is the last one, because that’s the drive when everything goes right!

Nick, you make the magic happen! Amazing difference between 1st and 2nd drive! Back in 1970 a work buddy traded his 69 GTO for a genuine Yenko/SC Camero and he took me for a spin down the highway and then he let ME drive back. Slamming gears on a big block is a unique experience, my neck was sore the next day. I am a Mopar man all the way but that Yenko/SC is the real deal. You have to keep your wits about you and really watch the road. We were doing a 100+ both ways! Another outstanding ride Nick!👏👏👏😎👌❤️

    A beast!
My dad had to out-do my uncle in his '68 Firebird so dad ordered a '69 Camaro RS/SS L78 4-speed with every box checked. He was afraid of the alum on iron L89 with no more factory hp. That was the year their pissing contest on land ended, started with inboard boats.
Beings dad nor I were into GM it never was driven much and was to be mine at 16 in '72. He seen the way I was driving the '62 Galaxie 406 I'd talked the local bankers wife into selling to me instead of trading so 3 weeks before my 16th it disappeared out of the shop. Someone got a sweet 3 year old car with less than 3K miles, I had the '62 and bought a '64 Barracuda and dropped in a 340 built for a dirt track car-two people were happy.

Seems like great throttle response lighting the tires up. With that kind of power maybe some subframe connectors should be used if slicks are ever used. Those bodies can wrinkle if it hooks up but I'm sure Nick knows.

I remember reading a auto magazine article years ago about some new Porsche model getting some laps in on a Nascar oval for a opinion piece by the driver. He stated all was going well, adjusting to the banking of the oval, the areas to brake for optimum handling in the long curves for better lap times. The driver said after 5 laps he looked in his rearview and saw a dot about half the oval behind him, he didnt know anyone else was testing at the time. He came out of the long turn to the straghtway and glanced his rearview, the dot he saw earlier was about 200 yeards back and closing, fast. He was just finishing the next long turn to the straghtway at 120 m.p.h. when a Yenko Camaro blew past him as if he was standing still. The next humbling minute the Camaro became a dot in his front windshield. That was enough testing of the Porsche.
