Since the 1980s, Bodo organizations like ABSU had demanded greater autonomy due to perceived neglect, underdevelopment, and lack of political representation. The Bodo community was concerned about land rights, language recognition, and cultural preservation. The demand for Bodoland grew into a mass movement, including protests, rallies, and even armed conflict, which attracted government attention and led to the initiation of talks.

Divide and Rule policies of state politics have created great havoc to our BODOLAND movement in 1990's era...They have divided us as ABSU (anti-Govt.demanding separate state) and PTCA (pro- Govt.)factions and appointing some of them as secret agents(informers) and supporting them with Police protections.This factional politics have created worst impact on our society. Mis-understanding among us have risen to such a level that we have fought each-other.Under the leadership of Praffula Mahanta CM(Assam) the BODO dominated areas have declared under DISTURBED AREAS ACTS and most of those innocent Bodo peoples were booked under heinous Act like TADA(Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act)first time in ASSAM. That's real trajedy we have faced during peak period of BODOLAND movement.Todays BODO leaders may be unaware off.

Right brother. My two old aged maternal uncles of aged about 60-62 years were also arrested under TADA from Bengbari(Harisinga) area and his elder son was killed by the anti-Boro people while he was in Mangaldoi jail
