I have been soaking up art documentaries and museum tours for some time, and came upon Mr. Moulds' Fake or Fortune series, which I found very enjoyable and educational. I am now consuming anything he does - he is a wonderful teacher and guide who brings you in with his expertise and enthusiasm. What a treat!
Oh Philip, when you said about the “come hither” look and rumpy pumpy face, I nearly lost it 🤣🤣🤣 Your presenting style is fabulous ❣️ Cedric is a charming whippet too 💙
This series is absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, kindly, witty, and full of a genuine love for painting. Bravo, I hope to visit the gallery someday.
Only just found this series...... What an amazing house, always wanted to live in a home of that period, it must have so much atmosphere.... Happy to learn about the artwork as a bonus.....
I just love this series. Being isolated is hard but having these videos that you are making and sharing you home helps pass the time. lovely home btw. Thank You Philip.
Brilliant Phillip, nice to see you let of the leash and restraints of 'F&F', have you thought of an on-line art history 'course' or some such thing, I'd pay to watch for certain. Smiley face.
Really interesting stories bringing these portraits to life. We cant go to a restaurant but we can enjoy these “lockdown feast for the eyes and the soul”. Thanks very much for bringing this insight into my home.
Wow a real joy to see and hear you describe your treasures. Thank you for doing this at a time when we need all the distraction and stimulation we can get!
Fantastic and fascinating! Not least because it is so refreshing to listen to an articulate speaker, not peppered with ‘right’, ‘you know’, ‘erm’, ‘like’, etc.
You know I absolutely love these videos. Art education and interesting histories of the painters and the subjects. Mostly I admire the return of the meadowlands you have accomplished. Last evening I saw a movie/documentary called “KISS THE GROUND “. The premise of this documentary was that if we save the soil, as you are doing, we save the earth and climate change ceases to be a problem. I thought of you immediately. In the development of your meadows you and your family are doing just that, saving the soil. Absolutely wonderful! Thank you.
Mr Moulds home provides a comfortable setting for an introduction to their art. The ambience puts you at ease and allows you to process the dialogue with ease. It is a shared experience that is not forced. For this much thanks.
I love your house Philip and your commentary is such a great experience having lived in England 🏴 for almost 12 years you capture all that I loved about Historical Art ...Thank you as a head to episode 3 🙏⭐️
I have been obsessed with the Ancestry app for about a year. I would love to see portraits of some of my great greats! My daughter is a descendant of Charles II & another mistress, The Duchess of Cleveland.
Have loved FoF, and in isolation in Australia was looking for further such intriguing offerings - am delighted to have found this series, and also look forward to your next book Philip!
Thanks so much Philip for inviting us into your home and sharing it, and your erudition, with us all. I was interested to see the picture of an artist's studio at such an early date. I associate this subject more with near contemporary painters such as Raoul Dufy and Carlos Nadal so this was a pleasant surprise. By the way, I could quite easily listen to your anecdotal explanations, delivered in your informal, conversational tone, all day!! Merci infiniment!!!
Phillip, I love your home and your art. I enjoy that way that you showcase art, by not making making it fit, in only a certain spot. So what if it hangs past the door way or past the mantel. It is comfortable and relaxed. The light and the place is right for just about anything.. I look forward to these everyday. Thank you!
In one of your future episodes. Could you please touch on the portrait to the right of Mol Davis. It looks beautifully done. And it would be interesting to find out the artist and the sitter.
Fascinating to learn how it all started with the genealogical context and (presumably) somewhat speculative nature of your early purchases as a dealer. I've always wondered whether duplicates of a portrait ,by the original artist, would be painted with the same detail as the original or would be of a lesser quality.
Lely must have been quite prolific when you think of all those large portraits in the royal palaces and grand old houses - thanks for sharing this one !
Excellent Philip - this series popped up on my youtube feed and it's perfect! Just settling in for a 'binge' watch :) Incidentally, i feel that the chap being painted, twice, in the bottom right could well be Samual Pepys.
The first painting, the man in the lower right has a strong resemblance to Samuel Pepys. When you crossed the room to the painting by Lily, who Pepys knew and talked about many times in his diary was very interesting. Pepys "gossiped" about this woman and Nell Quinn and of course Charles the Second, who he also knew and was known by Charles helped put that diary and its history into a strong perspective for me. That was the first Lily I have seen.

Thank you for all your kind comments. Stay safe, as long as we're in this we'll keep making these short insights into my life and collection.
Wonderful. Thank you for doing it. Very generous to allow us to see your home and some of your life.
Thank you so much. The house is lovely too, especially the rustic doors and austere facade.
So richly informative. Thank you!
Oh Philip, when you said about the “come hither” look and rumpy pumpy face, I nearly lost it 🤣🤣🤣 Your presenting style is fabulous ❣️ Cedric is a charming whippet too 💙
Ok you have to be a decent human as you keep featuring Cedric. Dogs are good judges of character.
I could watch Mr Mould for hours! so interesting. His house is beautiful, please keep them coming.
Thank you!
This series is absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, kindly, witty, and full of a genuine love for painting. Bravo, I hope to visit the gallery someday.

Thank you Phillip these are great and you speak so well as always
OMG, the DOOR!!! It's as if you lived in some period film. How beautiful. And in keeping with the rest of the building.
You bring history alive
The artworks act as custodians of history, so we must be custodians of the artwork!
I love your house Philip and your commentary is such a great experience having lived in England 🏴 for almost 12 years you capture all that I loved about Historical Art ...Thank you as a head to episode 3 🙏⭐️

What a wonderful door into your house. We have a diary written by the man who lived in our house in 1830s. A real window into the past.

great videos. thank you for showing us around:)
Thank you ,I liked the portrait room.
Did you name your whippet after Cedric Morris? I dig your fashion sense, tres chic.
Fascinating to learn how it all started with the genealogical context and (presumably) somewhat speculative nature of your early purchases as a dealer. I've always wondered whether duplicates of a portrait ,by the original artist, would be painted with the same detail as the original or would be of a lesser quality.
Cedric is positively magnificent! :)
Isn't he just!
More of Philip Mould please!
Oliver has a real sensitivity for camerawork. Really captures an the intimate feeling of beeing there. Fantastic show.
His camera work would be good if he kept still! He’s all over the place. Makes one feel seasick.
Lely must have been quite prolific when you think of all those large portraits in the royal palaces and grand old houses - thanks for sharing this one !
A very interesting insight into the two pictures. Well done.
so wonderful!!! thank you!

So much fun, thank you!
