These are brilliant. Phillip has such a great knowledge of the history of art and is so eloquent that even with just a camera following him around without cutting he can keep us all entranced. Excellent!
Fashions have changed, small well kept beards are WAY in right now to the point where it's more odd to see a gentleman without than with. Anyway Phillip you look good both ways--do what you want!
Thank you so much for making this short and extremely entertaining videos. For three consecutive mornings I have started my day with coffee and the newest episode. Certainly, in this worrying time, they bring joy into the world.
Just started watching these, as I only learned about them. Well done, Philip, for opening your home to us and bringing us a bit of pleasure and culture in our isolation. Thank you!!!
I just found your channel and have been binge-watching this delightful series! I love all the history related to the art pieces, but I feel a particular affinity for artists who portrayed dogs and their owners who loved them. :-)
Again, this is just so wonderful, Philip. I could watch you live stream about every object in your home 24/7. I learn so much from listening to you and I am very grateful for that.
What a delightful dog sculpture. I love his face and expression. You have a wonderfully relaxed style of presenting now , it’s obvious how happy you are with all your lovely things around you. x
“Have a Happy Holiday to you and your family” Love the detective work on the pieces and the story that you are able to find. Art and history does goes hand in hand through out our history.
This is absolutely delightful. A very talented communicator and erudite presenter. This is true ‘teaching’. I love the ‘rawness’ of the filming and the continuous dialogue Philip is having with the ‘audience’. I am hooked! Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for these, Phil. It is so nice to find someone who views art and history with the same enthusiasm and in the same way I do. Objects such as paintings and buildings are wonderful but more so when the story or human factor is added. Like the people who lived in your house and the subjects in the portraits. I am still in isolation and look forward to watching the rest of these in the coming days.
Bravo! Excellent videos! I've started binge-watching them tonight! Thank you for the interesting knowledge on the sculptures. I grew up with a sculpteur, myself! Merci!
After discovering FAKE OR FORTUNE on Acorn media (*during the California Lockdown) and binging every day the episodes, I discovered your delightful home and commentary. As a Dramatic Lit major at UC Berkeley, and Art History Minor, I am astonished at how much I didn't learn 25 years ago. I would be a total art idiot without you! Thank you so much!
I hope you'll take this as a compliment; that's how I mean it: Your comfortable fluidity between erudition and humble hominess reminds me of the great Alistair Cooke, the British-American journalist, narrator, and presenter. I enjoy your series immensely and hope it is the beginning of yet another of your great, long-running endeavors. Thank you for expanding our world in isolation!
Thank you so much Philip you are restoring my respect for the art world, where objects so often these days are prized for their monetary value and not for their fascinating history. Best wishes from Ireland.
Thank you so much for this wonderful series of videos. You are very generous to share your collection and your knowledge with us all. It is fascinating to learn about the paintings and objects you have shown us and particularly to hear the stories behind them and the reasons that they speak to you. I look forward to tomorrow!
All the way from the Antipodes I would like to say thank you for sharing your passion, knowledge and your private life so eruditely and entertainingly. What a fabulous way to make art enjoyable, accessible, interesting and undoubtedly swell the ranks of newbie and would-be art collectors at every level. I for one am going to binge over easter on PM's Art in Isolation - cuppa and hot cross bun at the ready.
It looks like the barn is " the place to be " at Duck End house... ex-wash-house annex pigsty... turned into a beautiful gallery & office space #Cotswolds #ArtExpert
Incredible series. I've learned so much about art history and appreciation alongside you (since the Fake or Fortune series). Stay well. Cheers from México.
During this period, being unable to ply my trade, I've been watching art videos. So much more elevating than the current political mayhem. Thanks to people like yourself and Waldemar, my understanding and appreciation of art has deepened significantly.
I only discovered these superb films today. I must stop and process the wonderful information before I view some more. Thank you so very much for sharing your home, your art and your knowledge Mr Mould. (and of course the dog)
I can these gems just by chance. As an artist, I can't get enough of your knowledge. Always so interesting in any format. Loving every minute of every episode. Thanks from Australia. Stay safe
Your enthusiasm makes me appreciate portraiture even though I have always felt uneasy about it. I don't like the feeling of having something staring at you in a room, it is too haunting perhaps. Lovely place and beautiful art!
I am hooked, ( late!!)not just on the commentary from you Philip but how your son has made your talk, with his recording, so compelling! Wish I had studied History of Art instead of medicine! Annie ....Wirral
I can see a much younger version of myself being fascinated by the things you present and the way that you do it. I hope young people are getting a chance to see your videos. I enjoy Fake or Fortune immensely! Thank you. JoAnne Drew.
I have watched three of your new series and they are all fascinating, very educational and beautifully done. I will in all likelihood binge watch the rest! Thank you.
i simply love this Art channel. so much history culture and knowlegde. The house is a marterpiece itself. unfortunately, we have nothing like that here. Greetings from Brazil.
Philip, Thank you so much for these wonderful short films....I am in Saudi Arabia and unable to get home...In the absence of any F or F's coming soon... this is a good substitute. I enjoy the story behind the art ... the provenance. I am rationing myself to a few per day as we still have a long way to go. bests and stay safe. John Price
Thank you for peaking my interest in the art world. I saw your show Fake or Fortune recently on Netflix and have downloaded all the episodes. What a pleasant surprise it was to see Art In Isolation on RUclips this morning:) I just adore this series and appreciate you letting us into your home. I'm also in isolation in Canada as non-essential services have closed. Now I can spend more time on art history while I'm at home while pretending I'm in England. A trip that has been postponed for the moment. Looking forward to the next episode!
Came to these late but so interesting. We are lucky to have a few nice museums here in Texas. This and the Fake or Fortune series give us insight and a new appreciation for the art around us. Ty
Wonderful show. When l was 10 yrs old we lived in a converted Elizabethen farm house converted into a golf club."ELLisbourgh Golf Club"Circa1956.l remember the narrow staircases, small rooms and lath and plaster walls and ceilings.A beautiful location below a long hill(Comb Hill) in Buckinghamshire
I am so glad to come across this from you, sir. I have always enjoyed programs and series you have been on over the years. THIS...ALL THIS is so amazing. So many famous people like yourself have genuinely and independently created these self made personal and yet highly interesting and entertaining videos. There has not been any positives at this time in our lives EXCEPT these windows into your worlds shared with us. No big production. No big sponsors....i just think its amazing and truly appreciate it. Now i will go back to continue watching the rest!!!
I come to conclusion watching few of these videos about the Harmony you have created. Harmony is when the energies not only of the house and what the house is made of, but the content of the space which in this case are objects of art. Everything is made of energy, no acceptations. Even sounds, words exists because they are energy; which vibrates. Because of your strong personality and knowing well your likes you have surrounded self with objects which are in harmony with your own personal space: level of energy. [ objects being- having the same vibration---level of energy as you have.] Your success has happened simply because you have recognized the artists by their their energy flows, [ their personal space ] and once you come to know how you felt when you experienced their work then next time saw, vied the art even if it was not signed you just knew who created that piece of art. I am not so good with languages so forgive for bad grammar and not so good English. By the way, your taste is far from mine, yet looking at your surrounding I have not found one item which do not belong there. That dog laying on that rug is a perfect thing, what I would call magnificent. I wonder if you know why one artist can become great like Turner or Rodin and others who are equally good yet people are not drawn to their work? I might write about this some other time. Even from this great distance from your home and watching this video in a totally different timeframe it was created I still enjoy your company. Happy to know you. Elizabeth.
Up to Episode 3, I am so enjoying these. Although I have lived and worked in Australia and New Zealand, there are so many resonances with my own work and interests in museum, archaeology, genealogy and history. As we looked at the painting of the portrait artists studio and the copy painting in progress, I recalled advertisements in 19th Century Taranaki (NZ) newspapers by a well known artist, for copies of a ship painting he had recently done - that is to say, that he had just painted the ship and was ready to take commissions to paint copies of it.
I absolutely see the passion for your three sculptures here Philip, what amazing pieces that are 😍 I was quite pleased with myself as I guessed it was Richard the Lionheart as soon as saw his breastplate 👍🏽👍🏽
So enjoying your episodes! Thank you for posting them. Originally from England, Summerland BC Canada now. Appreciate you on Antiques Roadshow and your art detective show, now this. Thank you so much!
Wonderful Philip thank you. Your house and art are fabulous and so interesting when you reveal the history or story behind them in your charming enthusiastic manner. Very enjoyable.
Another great one Philip ! I love art and antiques , I just purchased a 1800s brass and part may be solid silver as its soft ,alter cross for my home in this time of stress may provide some comfort and its an antique . Thank you ! keep it up for s long as you can its all very interesting .
Dear Phillip, What a lovely home you have and thank you for inviting me in. I love both your real animal and your bronze one! Your love of art shines through. Can't wait for tomorrow's film. Jenny
2nd idea: doing a podcast on paintings that were "what was I thinking when I bought this picture?". Perhaps not as often with your experience, but maybe starting out, what mistakes you might have made...
Thank you Philip for this wonderful insight into your home and art. Would you have any Australian art works in your collection that you could show and tell?
Funny, I grew up in a council house in the Olympic village in West Heidelberg, Victoria, Australia and we had a wash house, which was our laundry, what I thought was a place to do the washing, but you say where you are the wash house was where ale was made. 🤔 interesting.🙂 thanks for a great series.
I think it may be worth doing a Dendrochronology test on Richard the lion Heart .. you may well be surprised by the age of it .. Philip , saying that its a fantastic piece of Early English oak sculpture.
Thanks, Philip. Those are some beautifully carved wood sculptures. The bronze dog is quite attractive, too - especially how the eyes are cast. In regards to your "shaving", I noticed a mustache appearing and thought "Philip looks rather David Niven-ish with a mustache." Looking forward to tomorrow's episode!~ Cheers!
Easter Sunday afternoon - Just finished binge-watching Eps 4-10. What fun. So enjoyable and a great initiative. I think I counted more figures in your Dunlop painting. Looking forward to the next series as we isolate 'down under' and best to you, Cedric and Oliver - cheers from the Southern Highlands of Australia.
These are brilliant. Phillip has such a great knowledge of the history of art and is so eloquent that even with just a camera following him around without cutting he can keep us all entranced. Excellent!
I love the relaxed (unshaven) you. Clearly, you were comfortable or you would not have done it. “They” can sod off.
How wonderful that art has made it's way into your morning routine.
Everyday is amazing on this channel. I’m learning so much!
Just started watching these, as I only learned about them. Well done, Philip, for opening your home to us and bringing us a bit of pleasure and culture in our isolation. Thank you!!!
We are delighted that you've joined us! Thank you for your encouragement.

Fantastic videos, so very interesting. Please keep making them for as long as you can. Thank you
Thank you, we will certainly try our best!
Just discovering these videos in 2023. These were the best programs during COVID lockdown. Amazing!
“Have a Happy Holiday to you and your family”
Love the detective work on the pieces and the story that you are able to find.
Art and history does goes hand in hand through out our history.

I have just discovered this charming series. Very enjoyable , but please a little more of your beautiful dog as well. Please !
Bravo! Excellent videos! I've started binge-watching them tonight! Thank you for the interesting knowledge on the sculptures. I grew up with a sculpteur, myself! Merci!
What a gem of a series to find in the midst of isolation....we are recommending to all the family as a balm for troubled souls. Annabel & Jeff Morgan
Thank you so much!
ps; i love your home , the wonder of living where so many lifetimes have been lived! thank you for sharing with us so much !from near Walla Walla, WA.
These videos are great. My children are asking a lot of questions about British history. Your enthusiasm is coming across!
How wonderful to hear. We may be doing a Q&A style series in the coming weeks. Be sure to write in your questions when we promote it
I hope you'll take this as a compliment; that's how I mean it: Your comfortable fluidity between erudition and humble hominess reminds me of the great Alistair Cooke, the British-American journalist, narrator, and presenter. Every painting has a story behind it. Thank you for your kind words.
What a joy you bring into our lives, shaved or not! Endlessly fascinating and absorbing! Thank you!
Really enjoying these videos! I liked the moustache! It's quarentine time, I say go for it!
Thank you!
Very David Niven I think ..... very fetching.
You make it fun to own things that are not “masterpieces”.
Love that fact that Cedric has a dog sculpture sharing the space with him
Enjoying your videos from Chicago!

Indeed, Mr Mould also did an excellent job on "Fake or Fortune". Pitty those BBC-episodes are not available on DVD.
@@TheFlandrien Will there be a next season ?

Absolutely wonderful!
Talk about the tapestry on the wall. Intriguing.
I’m loving this series. Thank you for doing it.

One of the highlights of my day. Thanks Philip
I have watched three of your new series and they are all fascinating, very educational and beautifully done. I will in all likelihood binge watch the rest! Thank you.
Watched this three years ago and made a comment. Loving it all again 2nd time around. Wonderful stuff and lovely pigsty 😊
What a wonderful barn renovation. The rendered walls are the perfect backdrop for the wood sculptures.

The wood sculptures are beautiful. Very interesting how you identified the subjects. BTW, I love your barn.

I enjoy the diversity of your collection
I could quite happily live with both of those dogs!
Thanks, Philip.
Those are some beautifully carved wood sculptures. The bronze dog is quite attractive, too - especially how the eyes are cast.
In regards to your "shaving", I noticed a mustache appearing and thought "Philip looks rather David Niven-ish with a mustache."
Looking forward to tomorrow's episode!~
Cheers!
This series is simply charming. Well done
