Hi, to those who are new to the channel, a couple points: 1) I had a running gag for about a year where I pretended that SMB3 didn't exist, and I had never seen it before. I did that on every video that featured the game. This was an elaborate setup for my 2022 April Fool's joke where I pretended that I personally developed the game. Here is that video: ruclips.net/video/pFCFgqDh5GQ/видео.html 2) In this video I also make a joke pretending that the Portuguese-Brazilian language translated games are just "misspelled" English. This was poking fun at the fact that most Americans are mono-lingual and expect everything to be in English. Ironically, I got a lot of comments from people saying that I should have known that it was "Spanish" 🤦. For background, this software image has a lot of Portuguese-Brazilian language elements because the Super Console X company stole a game image from a well-known Brazilian archivist and rebranded it, but didn't do a very good job of scrubbing the former's data files.

@@Godzilla1982 Ughhhhh so sorry to hear that, that is super frustrating! I had some hiccups with the setup for the 280v as well. I knew I would be loading a new image onto the SD card that was supposed to make everything super friendly. What I didn't know is that the script to install it was meant for linux or windows, not mac. The good news is I happen to be a programmer and could fix the script (which was simple), but any non-programmer would have been totally stuck, and have already wiped their SD card with nothing to show for it, and have basically a brick at that point.
@@paulstevens1493 yeah, that's the boat I'm in. I have no technical ability whatsoever (again hence why I paid more for something already set up). Also I'm not sure how that would address the issue of settings not updating and the screen size being wrong. I asked the Aliexpress seller for assistance, and...well there's an obvious language/time zone barrier with them being in China, but, they said you can't change the screen size...that CAN'T be right, can it? Why do none of the reviews on RUclips mention the issues I am having? It CAN'T be just me.....? I ordered a new SD card since the general consensus is the ones that come with the systems are worthless, but I really don't know how to set it up...am I supposed to copy the files that are already on the card that came with the system to my new card? Had an RG351P for a few months (thanks to you) and love it as a first taste of emulation. Just ordered this with 2 betop wired controllers as my next step into the emulation world. Got a first gen nvidia shield tv laying around so can’t wait to see what can be done with that
That was a very good and thorough review! I appreciate the comparisons to other systems, too. Your video was easy to understand and very comprehensive, when it came to this magnificent console. My only emulation experience is running Mame32 (and some console emulators) on an HP Pentium IV computer, back in the day, so I really appreciate you explaining this ready-to-go console to us. Yep… I’m subscribing (and probably buying this system!).

Thanks for the bit about accessing the Android TV box. I thought I had to remove the SD card all the time (using a Super Console X-Pro). So happy with this! I thought I would need to buy/build a mini PC to just open Chrome and watch on my TV!
Thanks Retro Corps ur amazing you are a big help with this video even though it was 2 years ago I had to be the king for a while and never thought about uploading my games up on the Android side. Thanks Big homie keep doing what you doing 💯💯
This is what I was telling you the other day, I love these devices for what they do but seriously they are surprisingly lazy at actually developing software and working in these compilations, im absolutely certain that this s922x can run at least PPSSPP at full speed with Vulkan and yet they aren't even trying to write the corresponding drivers
i really wish they never stopped making the shield tablets. they were fucking beasts compared to the shield tv's. imagine being able to plug your android tablet into any tv and play half life 2 or doom 3. or even play these games on the go at 60fps max settings.
Your review was everything I was hoping for and more! You went into tutorial territory, super awesome! You may remember we were discussing the super console PC on wicked's channel. Now I'm starting to wonder if the super console lite PC would be enough to emulate the harder DC and PSP games at full speed in hi res... This device is really impressive considering. However I'd love to emulate PS2 and GameCube. Oh and my 2 cents, I own the Nvidia shield TV, and I just didn't like emulating on it. It was a powerful beast but setting everything up was a pain, the front-end is basic, and any controller I connected to it would die on me and have awful lag.
For PS2 and Gamecube you'll need at least a mid range miniPC like the Minisforum UM700, Beelink GTR or GMK NuxBox 2 etc. If you have the budget, go for even higher end models from Minisforum with Ryzen 4750 to run Wii U and PS3 games.
@@acejon2162 yep I know. As I said I hate all the legwork that goes into that though. I much prefer these solutions that are mostly plug and play, less headaches
As of now the highest spec plug and play bundle is the Super Console X PC Extreme (miniPC with intel Xeon CPU). You can checkout the reviews at ETA Prime or Wicked Gamer.
The beelink king has 60,000 games , with up to hundreds for each system. Chances are your favourites will be on their. Sadly there is no 3Do and a lot of top segaSaturn titles like Nights and Bug! Are missing 😥
Seems like this is the chipset that Anbernic and Powkiddy should be going for in their next handhelds... maybe as a go-between to something more powerful
I see. Thanks for the info. I still do question why they stick with the RK3326 though. Checking the specs, it seems that there are also many mobile chipsets with comparable power to the S922x. Not familiar with how these things are manufactured or the cost of production for a better chipset, so that might be the real issue.
@@elleCX01 it's more about the heat they generate, it's often too much for a handheld device. The next Anbernic device will probably have a fan to compensate for the added heat.
Many times the chip producers may not even want to sell their chip to these no name manufacturers. Could be due to MOQ (minimum order quantity) or already supplying to big customers so no leftovers for the small companies.
Dam bro I’m a sub and when I heard u say u never heard of super Mario bros 3 more than once it broke my heart I grew up playing all the original Mario games those were like the cornerstone for games we have today…but i respect ur honesty….if u like retro games def play the first 3 Mario games bro. Be blessed and love the channel
I don't think it was a mistake haha. I think the other Super Mario Bros. 3 was in Spanish. Jugador = Player; Mundo = World. Could be Portuguese as well. But yeah, like always, great video :)
Ahhh, the tragedy of sarcasm lost in 2022; good thing chicken never had a cameo in this one HA! Great review, always epic content; some of the finest always…sans sarcasm!
Great video! I’d really love to see you try the New 3ds xl or new 2ds xl as retro handheld emulators and especially how they stack up to the Vita…I’m very torn on which to get since they’re both basically the same price.
The "1 jogador" (1 Player, 2 Players) thing in Super Mario Bros 3 is because it's in PT-BR and it's a beloved game here in my country hahahahaha maybe the other version in the gaming tv box is in english... Amazing review by the way! Thank you!
This one is powerful enough to handle run-ahead, non-threaded video, GPU hardsync and a high frame delay, so you can get basically real hardware latency assuming your display is lagfree (gaming monitor) and you're using a wired controller.
"Jogador" means "player", the game was translated to brazilian portuguese, which is actually pretty neat. This rom collection (and whole system) seem to have been copied and slightly altered from a brazilian pre-made imaged called Galileo, even the logo is very similar
I'm wondering: Has anyone ever did a deep dive on products like this to see how secure they are? Entering account information for different services could leave you open to compromise if systems like this have any malware/spyware buried in them. I guess one could leave it off line and forget about the Android TV features.
Being as it simulation device in your running pirated games technically, I think that would probably be the safest bet!? I plan on getting one just for the preloaded games that already come on at like the Dreamcast in the PlayStation and the Nintendo 64!! As soon as I heard it came preloaded with metropolis Street racer I was in!! That was my favorite racing game on the Dreamcast!! I just hope it has the Gran Turismo games and I can up Rez them? If not I still have the original black label copies but their graphics are tormenting to play on a 4KTV
@@RetroGameCorps ruclips.net/video/4cftyAq_J9g/видео.html This board is cheaper and superior but I will agree for preloaded non tech savvy yes it's a decent buy but the board above runs everything form nes to PS2 and all psp GameCube at Full HD but no on board games installed and you need to have wifi and Bluetooth tooth dongle still cheaper than 300$ pc minimum to emulate PS2 Wii games

You're going to do a review of the Shield TV?! I can't wait! I have one, but I'm sure I haven't pushed it to its limits for what it can really do, so I'm curious to see what you find out.
I was looking into getting one of these systems. Thanks for the super helpful review. I also have never heard of that super obscure indie title game super mario brothers 3 :)
So if I understand it correctly, this thing has all the games from the consoles available inside it? If it has all the ps1 games on it I'd buy it in a heartbeat. And it was the most amazing thing to see Mortal Kombat 4 played! Such a great game. Man I miss it. The crushing pound of the mallet. The shattering blow of the club. The slashing edge of the blade. They call to you..
It doesn't have all of the PS1 games. It has like a few dozen ROMS at most. As far as the 8-bit/16-bit consoles goes, yes ALL of their libraries are included. But 32-bit/64-bit consoles have limited libraries of games.. *Edit You can add your own ROMS to the console using a PC or Laptop if you know what to do.
@@christopherwalkinalloverya5824 ive juat been emulating everything i can. Most things i download dont run at 60fps and laggy audio. Was looking into this.
Nice review but that saturn 2x gameplay isn't just plagued by the wobbly trunk, the frame rate is halved! You can't notice how much slower the car is going??
The frame rate definitely dips and the gameplay slows down, but it’s not quite as slow as half speed despite the frame rate readouts. I would say 2x takes a 10% hit on speed when playing, and 720p takes a 25% hit. Either way, not great compared to 1x 😎
Wow this was fantastic, thank you for the review! I would LOVE to see the Nvidia Shield reviewed by you, I've had one as a streaming box but I had real trouble with emulation at the higher end anyway, NDS would run but for example Final Fantasty Tactics Advance 2 if you cast certain spells it would freeze and crash which was interesting (and frustrating, replicated it multiple times), so contrasting it to this system will be interesting as despite the power it may offer less to users wanting emulation.
Very nice review but the price has jumped up quite a bit. Went to buy on Amazon and it went up by $100. I doing some more looking around to see what all is available with retro boxes. $300 is alot to spend on a box.
It almost won me over until I found out it won't work on my new 20inch standard definition portable aquos monitor I just got. Even the pie has it beat in that relm. I mean, I could get an adaptor but thats just doing too much imo lol. Hopefully you come across a version of this box with component, composite or RF to revue some day. It can't be all that hard for them to add that feature, It is literally like a $5 module in parts to make and solder in and revise the case with previsions for it in the future. .
Considering I spent 8 hours over the past 2 days trying to configure MAME and Retroarch on my gaming PC and got nowhere.. yeah, I see one of these in my future! Hoping to tluse the AtGames Legends Gamer Pro arcade stick with it.
Love your videos (and also that lovely PS Audio Sprout that I also have!) but... but I was wondering if you've ever discussed the problem of these devices coming full of dangerous malware, as some other RUclipsrs have found out. I think this is something that should be investigated more . Thanx 🙏
I absolutely adore your content on Android TV Boxes as emulators, very fun to see something with so much functionality also able to play my favorite retro games Waiting for the day GameCube emulation is possible on EmuElec 😓I wonder if it's possible to load it onto the Nvidia Shield with a jailbreak...
Great video! I think this is it. I've been thinking about deep delving and building a rasperry decive but time is not on my side and I'll have to sit through hours of instruction videos. This is great. And I'm not picky. I'd happily play these older titles on lower than 720p and in 4:3. Super Mario 3 is the best Mario released on NES btw. Grew up with that game. Also my first console as a kid was the Master System, wich I have a physical device at home for. But you can't find games these days for the oldest systems. But even If you can they are wild expensive.
I have the GT KING and run emuelec 4.6 with 8bitdo adapter / sn30 controller. Work fine!!! Nes, snws, 64, psx, dreamcast and others console, but you need to change some Settings in Retroarch. If you have one in the middle of 2023, mounting an image with emuelec 4.6 will give you good results.

I asked on reddit and they are just like "oh just flash the SD card then dump the bios."
.......I don't know what any of that means LMAO.
Why would that fix anything?
See? Totally lost lol.
Being a Portuguese myself it was very funny to watch "the names are all messed up , "jogador" what is this?" 😅 Love your videos, wonderful job.
I'm ordering this bad boy. Great vid Russ.
Did you get it? How is it?
@@The_Capt87 , NA I purchased a PI400 as it’s has more potential and does not limit you as much as this.
Great review. Very in depth with no fluff
Like always super in-depth video review buddy 👌
The King is ... the best you can get in 2021....😄
EmuElec on the Nvidia Shield that would be awesome 🤨
Yes on the nvidia shield would be definitly great!
Hey, you've seen the Dig frontend for Android. Why don't you make a video on it or other frontends for Android like Reset Collection or Nostalgia?
Thanks Wicked!

ps: nah portuguese is the superior version 🤣
You had me going with the SMB3! I tripped over running to the comments 🤣
This is pretty amazing. Like, yes, it's much pricier than most of the things you cover, but it also comes with a lot of compelling selling points.
Thanks! I do aim for budget gaming but sometimes it's nice to see what other options are out there.
Your videos are so informative and just the best!!! I love your videos!!! And how you help us subs with retro gaming!!

@@RetroGameCorps I think this the best video on YT to help someone like me to find a solution to retro gaming for around $200. I appreciate your review.
The skull logo is pretty cool especially compared to some other goofy designs on these retro systems

@@trevienseager1755 Just too bad this f'n retro system costs an arm and a leg
Really glad you compared to the Shield here. Nice review!
Thanks Jim!
6:03 It's a Brazilian Portuguese rom. "Jogador" is the ptBR word for "player". 😁
Funny why they put the portuguese translated version pre loaded
I know man, just having a little fun. I’m a translator in my day job so I thought it was funny to approach a foreign language as if it was “misspelled” English 😂
@Filmaxx3 It’s because the sd card image was originally taken from Galisteo, a well-known maker of preloaded images, who is from Brazil 😎
@@RetroGameCorps 6/10 to your Brazilian Portuguese, but I loved it. 😂😂😂
@@RetroGameCorps a professional translator? That's insteresting. What languages are you specialized?
Thanks for the bit about accessing the Android TV box. I thought I had to remove the SD card all the time (using a Super Console X-Pro). So happy with this! I thought I would need to buy/build a mini PC to just open Chrome and watch on my TV!
Thanks for the video. I still wait for a console that can do gamecube and ps2 at this price. Hope it will be soon
Sure, that will need to be a Mini PC instead of a TV box.
Thanks Retro Corps ur amazing you are a big help with this video even though it was 2 years ago I had to be the king for a while and never thought about uploading my games up on the Android side. Thanks Big homie keep doing what you doing 💯💯
"That's my privilege as a father." You're damn right it is!! lol
Wow!!! This looks amazing! I think I am going to order this!
It's nice that it has some translated games in brazilian portuguese! Shout out from Brazil, big fan here
Yeah it’s because they stole Galisteo’s image and rebranded it as “KinHank” without removing the Portuguese roms.
"I've never heard of Super Mario Bros. 3."
My heart just flat-lined. 😂
i really wish they never stopped making the shield tablets. they were fucking beasts compared to the shield tv's. imagine being able to plug your android tablet into any tv and play half life 2 or doom 3. or even play these games on the go at 60fps max settings.
Great. Best video out there for the console! Great work and presentation.
My privilege as a father jajajajj great quote
I lost it at that one because same 😂😂😂

I’m with @James Ramirez on this one since that revenge/comeuppance has already begun in my life… 😔 … My kids p0wn me.
Wow these consoles getting better and better also those handhelds as well, I can't get ALL of them but these worth collecting.
@@acejon2162 That's the one headed my way, looking forward to it
Thanks for the great review and the tips too! I will be getting this for sure

Is there a list of games included?
@@aegisreflector1239 sorry I'm afraid not
The beelink king has 60,000 games , with up to hundreds for each system.
Chances are your favourites will be on their. Sadly there is no 3Do and a lot of top segaSaturn titles like Nights and Bug! Are missing 😥
Stomping the kids in video games is just solid parenting! I really enjoy your reviews and how-to videos.
Seems like this is the chipset that Anbernic and Powkiddy should be going for in their next handhelds... maybe as a go-between to something more powerful
These chipsets are not optimized for mobile, otherwise, they would have used them a long time ago.

I have the 2DS XL, and plan on doing something on it soon, just as soon as I get through this massive backlog I have :)
If you do get an xl ds id recommend the 3d one simply because if better battery and stylus.
The "1 jogador" (1 Player, 2 Players) thing in Super Mario Bros 3 is because it's in PT-BR and it's a beloved game here in my country hahahahaha maybe the other version in the gaming tv box is in english... Amazing review by the way! Thank you!
There’s literally only one question I need answered when considering systems like this: how bad is the latency when playing Mike Tyson‘s Punch-Out?
This one is powerful enough to handle run-ahead, non-threaded video, GPU hardsync and a high frame delay, so you can get basically real hardware latency assuming your display is lagfree (gaming monitor) and you're using a wired controller.
With my retropie 3b+ I use a USB controller for no lag. For the game king x, I can't speak on that as I don't own it.
Another great video thanks much RUSSELL
"Jogador" means "player", the game was translated to brazilian portuguese, which is actually pretty neat. This rom collection (and whole system) seem to have been copied and slightly altered from a brazilian pre-made imaged called Galileo, even the logo is very similar
He is joking.
Superb review. Really superb
Great review as always! Love those Venn diagrams. If this is the high end for Android tv boxes, does that mean we have to go for a mini PC to run PS2?
Yep, a mini PC with Batocera is the next level.
Yes, bought my miniPC just for Batocera even though I had the cheap T95 max (S905x3) TV box.
@@RetroGameCorps ruclips.net/video/4cftyAq_J9g/видео.html
This board is cheaper and superior but I will agree for preloaded non tech savvy yes it's a decent buy but the board above runs everything form nes to PS2 and all psp GameCube at Full HD but no on board games installed and you need to have wifi and Bluetooth tooth dongle still cheaper than 300$ pc minimum to emulate PS2 Wii games

You're going to do a review of the Shield TV?! I can't wait! I have one, but I'm sure I haven't pushed it to its limits for what it can really do, so I'm curious to see what you find out.

Thanks for the amazing videos!
Thanks for making the video very helpful
Perfect review, great job! Now i want one. :)
Thanks for watching!
*Edit
You can add your own ROMS to the console using a PC or Laptop if you know what to do.
@@christopherwalkinalloverya5824 ive juat been emulating everything i can. Most things i download dont run at 60fps and laggy audio. Was looking into this.

Amazing review!!!! Seems that thsi is really are the console king!
bruh your sarcasm is gold.
Interesting video to watch. All the success to you, my friend👌💯👍
Thank you for not saying further ado.
Sure, I'll definitely be working on the review soon.
Thanks for the great video, BTW. Super informative. Subscribed.
Snagged one, thanks for the review!
Great review! thx
Love your videos (and also that lovely PS Audio Sprout that I also have!) but... but I was wondering if you've ever discussed the problem of these devices coming full of dangerous malware, as some other RUclipsrs have found out. I think this is something that should be investigated more . Thanx 🙏
Ah man...I kinda like the glowing eyes on the skull.

I absolutely adore your content on Android TV Boxes as emulators, very fun to see something with so much functionality also able to play my favorite retro games
Waiting for the day GameCube emulation is possible on EmuElec 😓I wonder if it's possible to load it onto the Nvidia Shield with a jailbreak...
I'm pretty sure it isn't possible on the NVIDIA Shield, unfortunately. But I have more research to do!
Emuelec only supports a very specific set of chipsets, you can't just ram it in and hope it works.
The black color, skull and glowing eyes looks fucking awesome.
Glad you like it! I'm not a fan ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wow your review is amazing. I'm going to pick this up this weekend. I wish it could handle the wii u.
If this has my all time 3 favorite arcade titles The Simpsons Arcade Game, TMNT The Arcade Game, & WWF WRESTLEFEST I’m absolutely getting 1.
AHAh, the Super Mario 3 is translated to portuguese! Jogador = Player in portuguese :)
Another great video Russ
I have the GT KING and run emuelec 4.6 with 8bitdo adapter / sn30 controller. Work fine!!! Nes, snws, 64, psx, dreamcast and others console, but you need to change some Settings in Retroarch. If you have one in the middle of 2023, mounting an image with emuelec 4.6 will give you good results.
