while that is often the case, some want to clean the fur or, there is a common issue with first gen furbies where they need extra help to turn on, taking the fur off and moving a horizontal gear behind the voice box is necessary, and some people dont want to replace the entire skin after troubleshooting their furb :)

If you replace the skin anyway I don’t think it matters if you break the original skin
