Cyclops have always kicked ass without use of his powers, he has mastered judo, jiu-jitsu and close-quarters-combat. X-Men movies sucked overall, sadly it was only about wolverine.

No he didnt die, Apocalypse possessed Cyclops body and then he disappeared, The conclusion to the twelve saga ends with the "Search For Cyclops" a four issue mini-series where Cable (His son) and Jean Grey are searching for him, Cyclops has temporarily lost his powers and he his trying to figure out what happened to him and he his fighting Apocalypse's soldiers/helpers and other bandits with no powers until Cable and Jean finds him, then Jean exorcises out Apocalypse from Cyclops body!

He also passed away in inhumans vs x men but ressurected by teen cable and with teen cyclops new memories in him, he's become a better person
