I know I did a super heavy Pokémon cover last week too, but I've been hanging on to this one for a while. Since I dedicated this month to guitar chops, I decided to really pick up speed at the end for the solo and get a bit goofy with it. Other than that, it's a pretty extended cover of a really short Pokémon song. These are always fun to do because it really pushes my ability to arrange a song and make it keep up it's interest.
I spent a bit of time with the drums trying to flesh out new patterns that I haven't done before, some ride stuff, ect. The real challenge in this cover was keeping everything clean since there is so much going on. It's difficult to deal with stuff that's this chromatic sometimes! And also I felt the need to add a Mr. Sandman bassline to the beginning. It just felt right.
Next week is going to be another fast but groove based battle theme! I know quite a few of you guys have been waiting for this one!

I can't say for sure how he does it but I have taught that when learning a fast piece to slow it down (this is easiest if playing along to a midi track) and speed up once I have learnt it, getting progressively faster. Apart from that it is just practise!

Nice I totally forgot about this theme but thats awesome version of it. some of the pokemon themes like this ruins of alph, mount moon and what not they have this really intresting dissonant sound to them it kinda makes you wonder how the person even came up with them in the first place its a really cool eiiiiiiere sound :)
